Protect vital pollinators with this Farmhouse Bee and Butterfly Habitat.

Habitat creation for pollination purposes is a key theme in conservation gardening. The habitat provides a perfect place for bees to reproduce and for butterflies to roost with narrow openings to keep out predators, wind and water.

Native bees can pollinate several thousand blooms per day. Because their sole focus is pollination, they do not produce honey or beeswax – and native bees make friendly neighbors, as they are not aggressive!

About 140 species of native bees make their homes in preexisting insect holes and woodpecker drillings, so they're naturally drawn to the bamboo tubes in this bee house.

This habitat is also outfitted with narrow openings for the butterflies so they can nest safely inside, away from predators.

Securely place the house on the south side of a building, tree or fence. Back keyhole mount. Painted wood exterior with bamboo tubes.

Care & Cleaning
After new bees hatch, clean out tubes to prepare for the next season’s offspring. It’s important to keep the bee house clean to prevent mites and other pests. Make sure all bees have been removed from the habitat before cleaning.
Use a pipe cleaner or bottle brush to remove mud and debris from the tubes. Rinse the tubes with running water (do not use a jet sprayer). Once rinsed, let the habitat air dry completely.
