Plow and Hearth have wonderful products, and are fair and professional. This x-large table cover is a super addition to our storage needs for the winter in the Northwest. However we had several inches of snow this year, and the cover became brittle after the temperature dropped and subsequently the cover tore and the tent pole ruptured through.

Okay, the good news first: Since we installed this cover about a week ago, we have had heavy rains AND an accumulation of about 1/2" of snow. (Upstate New York in mid-November.) The cover is basically a "fitted tarp," and the heavy-gauge vinyl material seems to withstand the elements just fine. The bad news is that today the wind is up to 15-30 mph, and the tarp has basically blown loose from all its connections to the table and six chairs it was covering. This is because the eight spring-loaded clasps provided with the tie-down cords are so flimsily sprung as to be useless. This is not a hurricane here...we're talking 30 mph!So my wife and I will be out there tomorrow starting all over again, but this time with moorings of our own design...probably bungee cords, or perhaps 1/4" rope. The manufacturer of this product should be prevailed upon by the vendor to improve it so end-users don't have to cobble together their own fixes. Alternatively, the product listing on this website could warn potential customers that this large cover will behave like a mainsail -- no, come to think of it, it was more like a spinnaker -- in a stiff breeze, which by itself is no problem. The inability to moor the tarp properly with the fittings provided is the problem. In any event, that design flaw makes it tough for us to recommend this product without including such a warning. The sad part is that the cords/clasps amount to maybe 2% of the total $$ value of the product as sold.

Would definitely not recommend!

Comments about Plowhearth X-Large Rectangle Table & Chairs Outdoor Furniture Cover:
Definitely does not hold up under the weight of rain or the snow. The poles in the center rip through in heavy winds, which we have had a lot of in the past few years. The wind action also caused them to rip where the cover rested on the tops of the chairs. They do not prevent the mold & mildew from forming on the covered furniture. I have bought them twice thinking I just got a bad batch (I have 5 different sizes) and have now given up, especially since they are really not inexpensive. I will just power wash all the furniture in the spring.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Put the xlarge rectangular cover on our outdoor deck set in the Fall. After a long NY winter of snow and ice, took it off April 6 to my furniture looking the same as it did last year. I would recommend this cover to anyone who wants to keep their expensive outdoor furniture looking brand new.

Very low durability, would not recommend
By Unhappy Cover Owner

We bought the Extra Large Rectangular Table & Chairs Outdoor Furniture Cover for our back deck to replace an original cover that came with the furniture. The original cover was much lighter and definitely held up longer. This cover which seemed much more durable did not last but one season before it was faded and the support underneath poked through the fabric. Very disappointed in performance.

Since we have run out of room to store our deck furniture in our garage, this cover will protect our table and chairs through the winter months.

Great cover for the price! It held up during heavy rain and wind. I recommend this cover.

Seems as though it is made for oval and rectangular tables as it is not exactly rectangular and has circular corners. Nevertheless, it fits over the table and covers the entire area I was looking to cover (talbe and chairs). I liked that they included a lift for the middle of the table so that water does not sit on the table when it rains. The toggles on the bottom are not built in but come seperate and are a little too flimsy. Not a bad product for the price, but I can see it ripping easily.
Doesn't withstand weather
from Parma, Ohio
Fit table nicely, but after only one summer fade across the top badly. After just one winter in Ohio which wasn't bad it had ripped in about 3 places on the top where it had faded from the sun. Was very disappointed that it barely lasted 1 year and paid almost $70 for it. The one I bout from [@] lasted almost 10 years, this one barely 1. Wish I could get my money back for this.

Not UV resistant
bought this in April 2011 and used through out the seasons and a very mild winter with one snowstorm. The part that rests on the patio table is faded to very light green causing weakening in the plastic. the weakening caused 5 tears. I put duct tape on the tears, hoping to keep this water resistant. After yesterday's rain, i lifted it off the table and it was wet! I needed this product to protect from wetness. going to try another local retailer for a more durable cover. $$$ for poor quality
I would buy this product again.

I found the cords nearly impossible to insert into the cord locks. The cords need to have a aglet similar to a shoe lace.
Looks good but tears

Does the job & saves us time

Bought the covers for our Adirondack chairs first then the XL cover for our table & chair set. Very happy with the quality and the job they do, however they are starting to fade from UV sunlight. Hoping this does not effect their longevity and performance longterm.Overall, I'm happy with these products.

Could never find anything that would "actually" fit...this does!! Very easy to use. Would buy again.

Just purchased this cover for summer use. it gives complete &total coverage of 6 chairs and table. I also lay the umbrella on the table and the cover fits right over it to keep the umbrella dry. Some water will get onto the table it will seep thru if you dont dump off any accumulation.heavy and durable.Wish it had a tag to tell me which way it goes. i never get it correct the first time. but, love it!

holes appear in the fabric. Appear to be caused by freezing and unfreezing as fabric moves on furniturecenter rod needs to be taller to ensure water runs off table
Perfect outdoor covers for harsh weather
from Bondurant, WY
We live high in the mountains with sub-zero weather, 4 ft. of snow for months and heavy winds. This year I left my patio furniture outdoors all winter and covered them with these covers. It protects from wind, rain and snow. Since the patio is on the south side, there are many days when the sun is very warm (up to 70 or 80) even though the outdoor temperature is 20 or less, so we are able to eat or read outdoors sometimes thanks to the protection these covers offer!
Well pleased with product

We were well pleased with the table covers - large enough to cover the rectangular table and six chairs. We had more snow and colder temps than usual this winter and the cover held up really well. Only wish the pole in the center were a little taller to reduce the low spots (for water accumulation), but have plans to modify for next year.

well-constructed, appears very durableThe cords and tie downs could use some improvement in design - not terribly secure

So far so good!
By Busy Mom

After years of fighting with tarps and ropes to cover up our patio furniture for the winter (which always blew off anyway)I decided to invest in these covers for our table, loveseat, and chairs. They were true to size (make sure you measure your furniture...don't assume it will fit), and fairly easy to put on. The process to 'tie' down the covers is ok. I was not sure it was going to be enough to keep them from blowing off. But, I am happy to report that they stayed on all winter! Through one of our snowiest, coldest, winters here in NJ in a long time, they stayed on, and look as good as new. Not one rip or tear. I am confident I will be able to use them for several more winters and am glad I made the investment!
Did not last 3 months

XL table and chair cover
from Swansea, Illinois
I love that the XL table cover adequately covers our rectangle table and six chairs, but there are not enough tie downs to properly secure the cover. We finally resorted to wrapping a rope around the table and chairs to secure the cover to the dining set. Before using the rope, the cover would continually fill up with air like a ballon and try to fly away. Our deck is only 12 inches from the ground and the cover properly covers the dining set dropping within 3 inches of the deck. We also had to resort to using the cover prop upside down with the pointed end in the umbrella hole and the feet side pointing up. This seemed to work better and help the water to run off of the cover. When the pointed end was up the prop would travel all over the table in the wind.
Cover did not hold up with first snow.
from Pioneer, CA
I did call Plow and Hearth and they sent a new cover at no cost. I will cover the edges of chair backs with a foam cover to protect the cover from tearing.
Durable and looks great in the yard!
By Midwestern Shopping Mom
This outdoor lawn furniture cover is terrific- easy to put on; coming with its own storage bag will make it easy to use and reuse year after year. It's a great dark forest green color so it blends in and looks like it will hold up to harsh Midswestern winters!
Top Quality Product!

About Me Homeowner, Outdoor enthusiast, Professional
I bought a large teak outdoor dining set and didn't want it to be damaged by the harsh Connecticut winter or the sap from nearby pine trees. The cover fits very well over 8 bulky chairs and the table. It did not blow off during a heavy wind storm. The pole that sits under the cover to prevent the formation of puddles did fall over but only the one time. I'm very satisfied with this and my other purchase of a bench cover.

Needed a different way to anchor it.
from Rochester, IL
This is our first winter but it seems very durable. The way you have to anchor it is not that great. We figured out a different way and it seems fine. You need more of a winch like we use on our pool otherwise it would sag and the water would pool

Great cover for our table and chairs. Really easy to use and store.
