This is an attractive birdhouse, and the house itself is well-built. The pedestal stand is very poorly designed. It looked good and performed well for 3 months. A slight wind broke the pedestal, and the part that screwed into the ground was compromised by rain. The wood rotted and the paint flaked off. I had to buy another pedestal for $40. In 3 months? That's not good.

I purchased the birdhouse post. The base of the post cracked when we tried to install it. The post consists of 2 parts that you join together to install. The joint where the post are attached is unstable, so the post did not stand erect. When we tightened it, the hardware broke.

Started falling apart in less than a month outside. They gave me a replacement but I put it on a shelf inside. Pole blistered and peeled too.

I recieved this as a gift two Christmas' ago. I love it & it is quite attractive. I used Spar Eurtheane, as suggested by manafacturer, to coat the bird house (x2!) & allowed it to dry for 72 hrs. before placing out in my gardens. It fell apart in the weather. The paint began to peel & crack & now, it is falling apart. (I take in my outdoor things for Winter storage!) This is definately not for outdoor use but rather, indoor, decorative use only.

I am a weather observer who lives in a community where association rules do not permit the installation of a conventional thermometer shelter. I solved that by customizing this Cape Cod style birdhouse for use as a temperature sensor shelter/shield sited away from houses and man-made heat sources. Its white walls and pale roof reflect solar radiation well. The dual compartments provide additional shielding. I drilled a few extra holes, mostly on the bottom, to improve ventilation. The result has been nearly accurate temperature readings. The downside is that within a year, the paint peeled and the wood began to rot in my humid climate. It lasted little more than two years. I am about to buy another expecting two to three years of use as the price was reasonable even for its rather short life span.

Birds have already moved in! I positioned the birdhouse where a pine tree once lived. It was easy to assemble & there are now beautiful deep pink geraniums surrounding it. It is a focal point in my front yard.

While the house looks good from a distance a closer examination shows that much of the paint is missing or beginning to peel. Although sold as a set, the pole and house did not align so I had to drill holes and secure the house to the post. The rather small base makes the assembly unstable, especially if used in the yard. All in all, I would say that it was a somewhat pricey mistake.

I purchased this birdhouse for the summer of 2010 to be used outside in the Northeast. Because I liked the general appearance so much, I also purchased another one of different style elsewhere but by the same manufacturer. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BIRDHOUSE. Escpecially for the price. The Northeast, 2010 had no rain for months...literally. This birdhouse started falling apart within the first month. Shutters started falling to the ground. Then the bannister started giving way. It was advertised in the catalog on a post outdoors. Assumed would be safe outside. Especially since we had no inclement weather. Cannot even pick up the pieces and repair. Also, the other one I purchased.......FELL APART too. Very disappointed in this product. Still Love Plow and Hearth, but they should rethink this item.

I had purchased a previous bird house similar to this one. My disappointment was all the glue sticking out of it. Like it was rushed to be put together.

This product is charming, easy to assemble and is attractive in our yard! I assembled it by sheer Intuition until I got to attaching the house to the stand. Love the Anchor which adds stability and the price was very reasonable! Two thumbs up!

The location of this birdhouse is in the middle of an oval flower bed. Birds have visited it as the house is full of twigs and grass. I have seen birds around it but none inside. I know the house and pedestal were expensive but you don't see it in everyones yard - I feel it is unique. I have had many nice comments about it from the neighbors.

I bought this for my husband for a surprise addition to his birdhouses, for his birthday, but its too pretty to go out- so its part of our we miss New England decor. Our house is old and shingled and it fits right in.

We gave this birdhouse an extra coat of seal as directed by enclosed materials. Despite this, the paint lifted in a sheet, starting at a corner, and from where the house attached to the base. It looked lovely when new but is falling apart as I write this.
