Wide foot
Comments about Product:
These arrived today. I can wear a shoe 7.5 or an 8. I read a recent review & thought I should go with an 8. Easy to pull on , but the foot is so wide. Fearful of going down to a 7 & having it too small in the calf. Wish it wasn't so wide. I imagine they will be great outside & around town, but I would look foolish wearing these into work.

Great boots, great service
Comments about Product:
I ordered these for my sister for Christmas, she's a college freshman, so they're not in her budget, but she's been wanting them for months. If I didn't already have rain boots, I'd get a pair for myself, but I tend to be practical that way! She's practical, too, she's at community college for 2 years, so still helping out on my Mom and Dad's small farm, and she enjoys hunting, so out in the mud and muck often. It's great that these boots are insulated as many aren't. I did have one issue, and I don't know if it was bad weather affecting my wireless or the website at the time, but my confirmation number page disappeared before I got the number down and I didn't get a confirmation email until the next morning, so I reordered the same order. When I called in the morning after I saw the email, the orders had already shipped, but they told me to just refuse one order, and they'd take the amount off my credit card. Customer service was competent and friendliness not a problem there at all. Also, I was not waiting for more than a minute or two before speaking to a person on the phone, all in all a pleasant experience.

Bad sizing
Comments about Product:
The box said size 9, the boots said size 9 - but they were NOT size 9. I COULD N-O-T get my foot into the boot. A couple of weeks ago, I bought shoes and sneakers that were size 9, so I know the size I ordered was correct. Too bad, because they looked nice and were just what I need/wanted for walking the dog in the rain.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
