Overall, I am very happy with this unit. I spent a lot of time searching for a small, wall-mounted fireplace, and this one was the best I came across for my needs (I wanted one with a wood frame). The two downsides to it are that it does stick out from the wall more than I would like and it has a visible electrical cord. To disguise the cord somewhat, I bought a piece of channel at the hardware store and put the cord in that. But on the plus side, it is a very nice looking unit and the fire looks reasonably authentic.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The flames are noisy and the heater is even noisier. Kinda ruins the ambiance. The website claims it's made of real wood. Well I guess if you consider particle board real wood! I guess you get what you pay for.

Small room
We were planning to put this on a small wall below our TV, which is also on the wall. First, it arrived damaged. And since the heat comes out the top, we could not put it below the TV. So it is going back.
