Comments about Product: I frequently add black pepper to my food at the table and enjoy the flavor it can impart. But at least the can of P&H salt and pepper peanuts I had was WAY overdone with the pepper. There was so much pepper I couldn't taste the peanuts. Expensive as they were, I could not eat them, so I threw them in the woods by our house for the squirrels to eat. They haven't touched them yet; maybe after the rain and snow wash the pepper off.
Comments about Product: Ordered the peanuts in response to a promotion I received on my iPad. Peanuts can was a small gift of appreciation for my employees to share. Then I was informed it was not available until after Christmas. Suggestion: Don't send out a promotion on a product that is limited in supply to create disappointment and unsatisfied customer. There are too many other shopping choices which I could choose in the future.
Comments about Product: This is the 3rd year we have given these as Christmas gifts. The recipients told us in November please don't forget to order our nuts!!! The nuts a large, not pieces, and the best tasting we have ever had. Get them before they are gone. Thank you for making them reasonable. Best gift for anyone.
Comments about Product: I purchase Virginia peanuts only so I was thrilled to find these in your Pittsburgh store at a really great price. And although they taste fine, they are the smallest peanuts I have ever bought. Not like the Virginia peanuts I know and love. Bought two cans but will not buy again. Disappointed. Not as advertised.
Comments about Product: They aren't jumbo in size but they are jumbo in flavor!! Just stick with the basic salted nut and keep them in the freezer til you're ready to eat some...they are delish right out of the freezer, cold and crispy...learned that from a Virginian!
Comments about Product: Have ordered the salted peanuts numerous times. They have always been fabulous. This time, though, the first can I opened was really oily. Have to use a paper towel to try and remove excess. Also, causing way to much salt to stick to the peanuts.
Comments about Product: I had thought about ordering these for my husband for a while; I went ahead this time, while I was placing an order for outside rocker cushions. My husband LOVED the way they tasted, and I also thought they tasted good. These will be a re-order.
Comments about Product: For a has Alzheimer's Disease but still likes these VA peanuts. It'll be a most appreciated gift. Thanks for the speedy delivery.I wasn't sure I'd have them in time but they arrived very fast so we can give them to him for Father's Day. Thanks!! Plow and Hearth comes through again!!
Comments about Product: Fresh nuts and nice size. Great flavor and plenty in can. Just a good gift regardless of the occassion. Something everyone would enjoy.
Also gift most people would not buy for themselves but should !
Comments about Product: I purchased the unsalted peanuts as a gift for a friend. She raves about them! This was the third time purchase. We have also purchased the salted peanuts for ourselves. Extremely fresh! Very good.
Comments about Product: This has to be the ultimate in peanuts. The crunch and flavor is terrific. Everyone loves the peanuts. The problem is that I do not have a store nearby so I have to order them and because of the shipping cost I only get them at Christmas when you offer the free shipping; otherwise I would eat them year round.
Comments about Product: The only drawback to these peanuts is that they are regular sized peanuts and not large as advertised. Size isn't everything in this case as they taste really good and you get a full can. We enjoyed them and thought the price was reasonable. I would order them again. We had honey roasted and the unsalted peanuts. Peanuts are good for you and make a healthy snack.
Comments about Product: The sea salt and pepper nuts were disappointing. They were more oily than the other types and there was hardly any pepper taste at all. Because of the oiliness, the crunch just wasn't there. I would not buy them again.
Comments about Product: I buy for gifts for the mailman, and men on our lists. I buy extra cans for those last minute gifts. These are the best peanuts and cheaper than other gourmet peanuts. Always fresh, and the box the tin comes in makes them easy to wrap!
Comments about Product: I've been ordering these peanuts from Plow & Hearth for many years. In the past, they were Jumbo sized and Extra Crunchy. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the peanuts in my last order. The peanuts were small with average quality and texture. The tins now come with a plastic lid. This new lid does not keep the peanuts as fresh as the old style metal lid. Sadly, these peanuts are no longer a premium product.
Comments about Product: These peanuts are the best. Other companies call theirs "jumbo and salty" and that their from Virginia. But NO! No others taste like these. Trust me, I know.
HOWEVER.... Your company messes up my orders EVERYTIME .. I used to order from you but no more. Way tool many mistakes with every order. But this peanut order was NOT messed up, came on time, etc. So hats off to you for getting this one right. Sincerely, P
Comments about Product: I have been buying these peanuts for over ten years and there was a significant decline in quality of both the peanuts and the packaging in this past year. The new plastic lid (used to be a snap in metal lid) does not keep the peanuts nearly as fresh and the peanuts were smaller and not as high quality. The peanut quality may have just been due to a bad season but the packaging change makes a big difference in long term quality. In the past I would highly recommend these to everyone but no more.
Comments about Product: I always bought the P&H peanuts because of the taste and they were nice and large. I was quite disappointed to open the container to find normal sized peanuts. The size and taste made the extra cost worth it, but at this size I might as well but the less pricey peanuts at the grocery store.
Comments about Product: I have ordered and eaten the unsalted P&H peanuts for many years. This year the peanuts were of lower quality, size and do not taste as good. Maybe my tastebuds are changing, but I still think the peanuts are no longer of the same high quality.
Comments about Product: I love the unsalted peanuts. I keep them in the nut dispenser I purchased from you folks. When I get a few hunger pangs, the small amount of peanuts dispensed carries me over. If I were to reach inside a bowl or bag of peanuts I would take way too much, a normal thing.
The flavor of the peanuts is par excellence.
Comments about Product: I have ordered this product for years. This year the peanuts are greasy and my husband who loves these peanuts complained. The lid is plastic now instead of metal. Don't know what the problem is.
Comments about Product: [...] the product was exemplary. Would highly recommend Plow & Hearth, AND the peanuts, to all my friends. They may be a littley pricey, but you get what you pay for. Thanks, Plow & Hearth!
Comments about Product: I give this product as a gift and enjoy eating the no salt peanuts, as well. The packaging ensures freshness.I have sent these products to military overseas and they arrived in good shape.
Comments about Product: These are the best peanuts we have ever eaten. Great purchase! My husband liked peanuts but now he loves them. I bought 2 cans and was going to give one as a gift. My husband said no you're not...we're keeping these for ourselves! We agree these taste amazing...fresh and crunchy! Wonderful!

The Nut behind the Nut! "In a Nutshell"
Comments about Product: Your tastebuds will begin to dance & start jumpin up & down for these nuts. I don't know how they do it, but whatever it is, a simple (large to jumbo) peanut has never tasted so Goooood! These nuts have a crunch in every bite with flavor unsurpassed by none other. Did I mention they are salted to perfection? Not too salty, they're just right! The bottom line is, when you need to get a nut, pick up the Plow & Hearth ones. They will put a smile on everyone's face!
Comments about Product: Anyone who likes peanuts, and even some who don't, will like THESE peanuts. They are jumbo, lightly salted, quality peanuts, an excellent snack anytime. And they are not oily/greasy like some name brand peanuts. We have bought these peanuts on numerous, previous occasions and have never been disappointed. Neither will you.
Comments about Product: Tried these for the first time a few years ago and was buying a can a week. They're delicious. Then the local Plow and Hearth store closed and the next one was over an hour away. I recently took advantage of your [$] special and ordered two cans. Keep running those kind of specials and I'll keep buying.
Comments about Product: These peanuts are the BEST I've ever tasted....I almost hate to share them!!!...my only wish is that you would put them in smaller packages for gifts...last Xmas I split a big can with my 2 sons in law...they, too, love them....please don't ever stop carrying them...
Comments about Product: I bought these for my dad to go with the dispenser that I got from Plow and Hearth for Father's Day. Virginia peanuts are his favorite so I bought the honey roasted for something different. They were delicious peanuts but sometimes too big to dispense well since they weren't a consistent shape or size. Although they seemed a little pricey, I found out that the taste and crunchy texture did set them apart from the usual peanuts so probably worth the money. My dad loved them and thought the whole idea was fun and unique. It's what I'm noted for in my family so I'm glad I have places like Plow and Hearth to offer creative ideas that are good quality.
Comments about Product: These peanuts are delicious, the best I've ever had. They are fresh, flavorful, and have just the right amount of salt on them. The price is right too. They also make great gifts and great party snacks.
Comments about Product: These beat the daylights out of supermarket peanuts. They have the size and the crisp crunchiness that peanuts should have. As long as I have teeth, I will purchase these nuts regularly.
Comments about Product: We keep a bowl of these delicious peanuts on our kitchen counter all the time and they are always out when we entertain. We have sent them to family and friends as gifts and everyone raves! They are always big, fresh, crunchy and delicious.
Comments about Product: These are fabulous!!! been getting them for years thru Plow & Hearth - always very fresh & like they say Jumbo... since i can't be in Virginia these are next best thing. WE love them & have them around as a good snack & to share with family and friends.
Comments about Product: I've checked out several brands that sell this variety of nut and these are the best I've found. The size is consistently large, they arrive crunchy, and they're well salted. They're not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We always have several cans in the pantry. Enjoy!

This product is definitely "the nuts".
Comments about Product: My husband and I keep a dish of these peanuts on the kitchen counter for those "anytime" snacks. I have been looking for years for peanuts that resemble the great blanched peanuts I ate and loved during my childhood years in the 50's. These match that "old time" flavor and cruch perfectly!
Comments about Product: These peanuts have become a Christmas tradition, (and soon to become a more frequent one). I give them to my husband and son-in-law every year. But, this year they are going to more addresses. My husband keeps a stash in the desk in his study.
They are just the best!
Comments about Product: Have ordered this product for a number of years and everytime if is always fresh tasting and what I consider to be an excellent value for the money. The peanuts are wonderful, not to salty and I have never found a bad nut in the bunch
Comments about Product: I have ordered these peanuts for ourselves and for holiday gifts for years now. Everyone loves them and looks forward to the fresh, wonderful peanuts. I made peanut brittle in December using them, talk about delicious. We personally love the salt free the best, but all are wonderful.
Comments about Product: We entertain alot during the summer and all holidays. These peanuts are always a hit with our guests. Everyone wants to know where they can get them. They are a healthy snack and very tasty.
Comments about Product: Peanuts are a good source of protein. I eat meat very rarely, so I find these Jumbo Virginia Peanuts a good addition to my diet. We keep a small scoop inside which makes it very easy to enjoy a handfull which only leads to another handfull because they are so yummy.
I especially enjoy them chopped over egg salad!
Comments about Product: Have given this as a gift for 4 or more years at Christmas time. The recipient has come to expect it and has been so thrilled with it that I continue to send it to them. Once they thought I wouldn't be sending it and they almost went into mourning. Needless to say, I highly recommend this product. Even got to taste it for the first time last year my self and now I know why they love it so.
Comments about Product: I didn't expect such large and delicious peanuts when I ordered them. They seem to be the largest that I have ever seen. I eat a handful every day and they are still as fresh as the day they were opened. These are great for guests, but so good that I want to eat them all myself.
Comments about Product: We received the Plow and Hearth Jumbo Virginia Peanuts as a gift at Christmas. We finished them off before the New Year. They were so good that we ordered another can just after New Year's, and they're gone. Now we're about to order our third can. We justify eating all these peanuts because we believe they are nutricious and good for you--plus they are great tasting!
Comments about Product: There is no peanut better than a Virginia style peanut. The crispiness cannot be duplicated. I always buy them when I visit Virginia-but with Plow and Hearth, I don't have to wait to have them. I buy them for gifts and always include the most important recipient-me!
Comments about Product: These are the best peanuts. I bought some peanuts in a store that claimed to be Virginia peanuts that were very poor quality. These peanuts are addictive. They make a very nice gift also. Delicious!!!
Comments about Product: Great looking peanuts, larger than peanuts bought in the grocery. I purchased them to have at a family gathering but everyone, including my salt loving husband said they were too salty. I tried to shake some of the salt off but not enough came off. We resorted to wiping salt off individual peanuts as we ate them. I would not recommend them, nor would I buy them again.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
