Three-Tier Varnished Wood Plant Stand

I just spent 2 hours trying to put this together and couldn't get past the first step. I'm so glad I looked online and saw all the problems others had - I was starting to think I was losing my mind! I am also disappointed to see people say it won't stand up to the weather without being sealed.

Quality is really OK, particularly for the price, but everyone is right about the instructions. I'm pretty good at figuring things out, but only after realizing that the picture instructions were completely wrong, was I able to put it together.

Unless P&H corrects it, take the instructions, and where it says G, cross it out and replace it with E. (the picture does show part G connecting with H, but that is impossible, one must connect E with H instead.) Likewise replace E with G on the instruction sheet. (see photo of revised instructions below)

If you start out by attaching D and C to H, you will better be able to visualize how it will go together. I found it easiest to not fully attach the screws til the very end. Use the large screws at the top of the four V's created by the attaching [1] D & H and [2] C& H. Don't put on the bolt, as the screw will have to pass through each of the shelves later on. Use the small screws everywhere else.

I didn't attached part 'I' until the end. I needed the ability to jiggle the connections to get the holes for the shelves to match up. Also, there were no holes on the back of E where it crosses with I. And there were no screws for same. I recommend a 1 inch skinny screw. I tried shorter ones and they came apart.

One of the commenters at P&H said it won't last long. There is a clear coating of something on the wood. But I will also be putting a second coating on.

After trying to follow directions as shown, calling seller for additional directions and stomping around - got it put together. Sealed the finish before putting on porch. Looks pretty and holds a lot of plants!!

The instructions were photographs, no written instructions. The wood pieces would not match up. Could not assemble. Returning it.

I'm using it to dispay my orchids, i bought two , really nice stand for my plants, my husband assembly it without the instructions provided because impossible to do it the way they recommended

The shelf unit is nice once put together. It supports our plants and has a good look. We added a waterproof oil to keep them nice in the weather.The biggest drawback is the instructions! I think plow and hearth should be laughed at sending them.After trying to figure out the dumb pictures and wordless instructions we finally realized the screws and boards were mismarked. Go to the purchase picture and build the shelves without the instructions!

I sure wish I had read the reviews sooner. We spent 5 hours trying to put this together and finally just boxed it up and sent it back. The directions are horrible and wrong!!! Return went well and I was given a credit. Bought a hardwood stand instead. Beware of the directions!!

The directions are wrong for this product. #1 says put H with G. Part G should be part E. other than that, I really like the product. It is much better than I expected. It works well as a night stand/plant rack. I think it is too nice and maybe too light to put outside. We live on a hill and I am worried the wind might blow it over.

I bought this for my daughter for her herbs. It looks good and is pretty sturdy. However, this item will not hold up to the elements more than a year if left outside. The worst part of putting it together was that either some parts were mis-labeled or the instructions were wrong. The instructions were terrible. It probably took an hour to put it together and should have been no more than 30 minutes. I really have to say that I wouldn't recommend this item to anyone unless they are using it indoors...then it would be great !!!

The shelves are great once you are able to put them together. The directions and labeling of parts are mostly incorrect making what should be a simple job three times longer and very frustrating. I have seen similar reviews and therefore cannot figure out why this problem has not already been addressed.

It took me 4 hours to put this together !!! Not because it is difficult but because the directions are wrong. It begins step 1 by saying to attach B to G, it is infact supposed to be attach B to H. After I finally figured that out it went together in 20 minutes.

My husband and I spent over 5 hours trying to put this together!! Didn't get even the first pieces put together. It is like doing a puzzle. There are only hard to see pictures to look at to put this together. We finally gave up and sent it back. My husband and I both have Masters Degrees bt putting this together was beyond what we were able to do. Perhaps ours was defective but I don't think so. Good luck if you buy this trying to put it together.

The assembly instructions ( poor quality and small pictures ), are not easy to follow. After spending too much time trying to follow the directions and assemble the stand, I gave up and started to repack to return it when I tried again and found that either the instructions were wrong, or pieces H and G were mismarked. Once I realized this the assembly went fairly quickly. If you are having an awful time trying to get the assembly right, try reversing pieces G & H.

This plant stand will be great for my plants. They will get good air circulation and plenty of space to spread out.

It would have been nicer if the wood had less knots and was clearer, however, it still looks sturdy. The directions were wrong..pieces were marked wrong. Fortunately I had the help of an expert and he threw away the instructions and had them together in no time.

I told my husband I needed a plant stand and he went to our basement and came back with cement blocks and spare wood. Great - looked terrible. I happened to be looking through Plow & Hearth's catalog and found just what I wanted with this product. I highly recommend this product. It looks great on our back porch and holds all but the 2 large plants we placed on either side of it. Great look.

I think it is a good value and aside from my initial difficulty in putting it together [the pictures that come with it are not too clear]. After buying one, I have bought two more I like them so much!

I bought 2. 1 for a display at an upcoming garden show and 1 for my patio. I was sure I could put it together on my own. I couldn't get past the first instruction. Either the instructions were incorrect or the parts were labeled incorrectly. After my husband and I spent almost 2 hours we finally got them figured out and put together. Once together they were nice.
