I first bought these curtains to cover the sliding glass doors in my kitchen because a lot of cold air was getting in during the winter. With vaulted ceilings, my heating bill could get quite high. With the obvious reduction to my heating bill last winter from just the set in the kitchen, I opted to order more curtains for every room in the house. This summer the house has stayed cooler and I am excited to see how all the curtains will help the heating bill this winter! Great product for the purpose and adds beauty to boot!

These curtains hung easily and did block out light. However the first time we washed them (and yes we did follow the directions) they shrank several inches and the fabric started to pill and fray. Don't hang these where they may get dirty and need a wash. They no longer fit the windows in my kitchen.

BIG problem with these window panels!

Comments about Plowhearth Tab Top Insulated Curtains:
These panels are great except for one huge problem--they arrive very wrinkled and the wrinkles are impossible to get out. I even took them to my dry cleaners and had them professionally pressed which added to the price but even they couldn't do anything with them. I also tried one reviewer's suggestion about putting them in the dryer with a couple of damp towels and that didn't help at all. I'd like to know what kind of dryer that person has! Also the backing has holes in it here and there all over the panels. P&H certainly needs to do a better job in the quality control department because many reviewers complained about this flaw. Yet they keep these panels in their catalogue and keep sending them out. I am very disappointed and probably won't be ordering anything else.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought 84 inch drapes thinking they would be 84 inches. When I got them and hung them and noticed they didn't reach the floor, I measured. They were only 82 1/2 inches. I figured I could live with it, so I took them back down to wash them to get the stiffness out of them. BIG mistake! Even following the washing instructions - Wash in COLD and DRIP DRY.... They shrunk 1 1/2 inches!! So now I only have 81 inch drapes and they look really stupid hanging in front of the sliding glass door!! I would not recommend these to anyone unless the length isn't that important to you.

The design and color of the curtains are great. One panel arrived with a large circle of pinholes through the material as if it had been stapled in a pattern. This sort of defeats the purpose of curtains to diminish the light. This panel was replaced in a timely manner. At the same time, I also ordered a rug. I heard nothing; it was not on back order. Six weeks later when I still hadn't heard anything, I cancelled the order. Not impressed.
The Good and the Not So Good

The curtains seem well-made, block out light, but are just a shade too narrow for a standard window, requiring 3 panels to block light from the sides. The panels are very creased from the packaging. The instructions say little ironing advised on one side and none on the other. Ironing did not take out the creases. Hope they hang out eventually.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
They helped me save $$

I saved $50.00 on my electric bill after installing these curtains and using the Pavenex Fireplace Blanket. The only problem I had was the color seemed off a bit from the internet picture. Otherwise they are a quality constructed product that I would recommend.

So, so hard to iron
By the ironer
from jaffrey, nh
Love the look once hung. Ironed with steam didn't work, dampened didn't work, put in washing machine on rinse ironed damp didn't work. Hung and let dry all night and in the morning used spray starch and now they look great. Had these curtains before loved them but seems to be cheaper material.
Horrible to iron
By Gin the ironer
Love the look but horrible to iron. Tried to steam, then dampened, then put into washer on rinse still no luck spent 3 hours working on them. Next morning I used spray starch and they did look much better. Bought a pair 9 years ago and they were great and the fabric used then ironed great. Would not buy them again unless the older fabric is used.
Really like these curtains!

I'm so glad I didn't let all of the negative comments about wrinkles discourage me from ordering these curtains. I'm so happy with them! Ordered natural color but it wasn't really an off white so I exchanged for white. Yes, they were wrinkled but 10 mins in the dryer with a damp towel and then a hot steam iron took the wrinkles out with no problem. Ordered 5 pairs for 2 bedrooms and will be ordering more for the other bedrooms!

Ordered these curtains 3 times. The first 2 times I had to return because of red, blue or black streaks on the white curtains. The 3rd set that came in were pure white but when I went to hang them none of the lengths were the same. They were off anywhere from 1"-4". This 3rd set is going back and I will buy another brand elsewhere. Big waste of time and shipping charges. I have been purchasing product from Plow and Hearth for years and have never seen such low quality in any of their product.

The quality of the drapes are good. They are heavy with a nice insulated backing. However, there is no way in the world to get the wrinkles out of the drapes. I have spent hours ironing them to no avail. Also there are blue markings and what appears to be dirt on several places on the drapes. I would not recommend them unless you don't mind wrinkled messes hanging at your windows.

These are a replacement for a 10 year old set the is wearing out. Good wear considering the initial cost and the constant abuse with the sliding doors.

I washed the tab-top drapes before hanging them. They came out of the washer very wrinkled, and it is not recommended that you dry them, so I hang-dried them. Then, they were extremely wrinkled, but it is not recommended that they be ironed! Because of the backing, ironing on a hot setting will melt the bonding/backing agent, but a low setting will not get rid of the wrinkles. I also purchased three valances which are not a uniform length, and do not appear to be a continuous valance as a result. I am very disappointed overall in these drapes, and would not recommend them.
Great. Really don't need ironing.

not what I expected

I bought a window pair and a pair for a patio door. I purchased the same curtains a few years back in another color and wanted a change. I was looking forward to the new fabric but was very disappointed. It is very difficult to get wrinkles out and the the fabric itself isn't as nice or as heavy as the older version. The patio door pair have 3 large spots on them. It appears they are inside the curtains- almost in between the fabric and the insulation. I didn't notice them until I hung them and the spots became evident when the light shone through them. Unfortunately I waited too long to hang them and now it's too late to return them. They block some light but they are not for total light block out. I have them in my family room so it isn't an issue for me. I do love the sage green however. It is very soothing on the eyes and a very attractive color.

Had been looking for specific curtains for the kitchen. Found these on website.....at first was unsure of the material and sage color. But tried it. I am thrilled with the color, quality, style, and material(not shiny, satiny). we are now looking into placing them in our family room as well. Thank you plow and Hearth for coming through!!

Quality Control Problems
By Mountain Gal
from Chattanooga, TN
The curtains (needed white) I ordered arrived with dark stains. I had to send back. Second set was not stained. Supplier needs to have better quality control. I can't believe that someone packaged the first set of curtain panels with large stains down the front.

after following laundering directions on tag, my curtain's backing stuck to itself and after smoothing out wrinkles on clothes line backing pulled off of curtain and left areas of damage (light shown through). I was denied a replacement or refund. too bad, I liked how they looked.

purchased double panels and single and the lengths are not the same, so do no hang properly - trying to figure out how to fix the problem.
Pleased with purchase, especially price.

I have cellular shades for my bay window but the white drapes just dress up the room.
serve the purpose

Good servicable item for blockage of light and air. Used for sun blockage in bedroom french doors to patio. Can push aside completely on the rod for full view. Did not press, husband hung on the rod immediately after putting up rod. After 3 or more weeks they are still full of the exact original deep creases of packing. I will steam press and hope they look better eventually.
Tab Top Insluted Drapes ok but wrinkled
from Minneapolis, MN
the quality of these drapes were as advertised and they do a nice job of blocking out the light. The rods were easy to hang as were the tab drapes. However they are very wrinkled out of the box and need to be professionally laundered and pressed unless you have hours of time.

I bought these curtains to block the morning light in a room that is occasionally used as a guest room. They are great for room darkening. And unlike other room darkening curtains, the fabric is attractive, quiet, and has a nice drape to it.
