I liked the Super Fat Wood because it WAS 12 inches long. When I reordered, I received 8 inch fat wood. The picture online and in the catalog both still show the 12 inch long fat wood and there is NO mention of the reduction in size to 8 inches in the product description. I will now look for another vendor who still sells 12 inch fat wood.

I read the comments and tried these to see if they were that much better than the regular...and I couldn't tell the difference. At twice the price I wouldn't buy them again.

We have used your fatwood for a number of years in our soapstone woodstove and 1830s fireplace.

The larger style is definitely worth the extra price. The sticks "stay in place" to ignite more of the fuel, rapidly.

It's a good product.

I purchased the "Super" fatwood and the regular fatwood at the same time just to test them side by side. They performed exactly the same in 3 separate tests. They both lit in about 10 seconds with a lighter and burned out at almost exactly the same time 8 minutes later. It is not a bad product at all. But the regular fatwood is cheaper and works just as well. At least for the batch that I got. It just wasn`t all that "Super"

Live up near Yosemite, use fireplace daily, go through approx 2 35lb boxes per year. Starts fires quickly and easily everytime. Have given to friends and family as christmas presents. They all have loved the product.

I usually buy the regular fatwood, and I will go back to the smaller, regular size...but then, our fireplace is not a huge one, it's more like a medium sized one. I found that after using the super fatwood, it did not work any better. It is thicker and seemed to take longer to ignite. It is still a decemt product; I just prefer the smaller size, even if I use a few more.

We have a place in Mammoth where we use our fireplace all year long. We were fans of Fatwood until we decided t order Super Fatwood last time. Super Fatwood is much larger than the other product and is so saturated that it lights easily every time we use it. Because it's longer, it can really reach into the wood stack to get a strong fire going faster[...]Ordering Super Fatwood online from Plow and Hearth was a positive experience and we will certainly order again.

We live in the great state of WV. One week before Christmas we had a major power outage and boy did this come in handy. Our only source of heat for 7 days was our fireplace and when you have to keep one going 24/7 you need something reliable that will start quickly without tending to the fire time and time again. We plan on getting it again for the 2010 season. Thanks for having great products.

We are very disappointed with the product. They are very hard to light and to stay lit. I felt like we were wasting them as it took several to get a fire going. We wish we would have tried a smaller amount first. We won't be buying them again.
