We really like this spinner. It literally turns almost all of the time. Everyone notices it right away and thinks it's cool. I was surprised at how well it is made. Great quality! I do wish that it was taller. It has been outside for 4 months now and there's no sign of rust. Depending on the wind direction, the pole can unscrew itself where the lower poles connect to each other. No problem with that though- my husband just used some lok-tight on the joint and it has been absolutely fine. I would reccomend this spinner to anyone.

I initially wrote and submitted a review for this product 2 weeks ago and it never was published in the review section. At that time I awarded the product 4 stars. This review only gets 3 stars and I will explain further the reason below. We purchased this wind spinner as a gift for my father. He had seen similar ones a couple of years ago in Kennebunkport, ME. The ones he saw in Maine were priced anywhere from $350-$1500 so when I saw this one online for the price I was eager to purchase it.Prior to ordering I read all the reviews for this product and noted the problems some of the buyers experienced. Before the item arrived we bought the suggested items to add stability for the product and were ready to retrofit the item. Rebar was suggested to be added down the shaft of the pole for added stability and we did that. It was also recommended that joint compound to tighten the part together be used. We did that as well. Checking the welds to be sure they were secure was next on the list. The welds on the spinner arms appeared secure. Lock washers to be added to the spinner arms recommended and we did that. By taking every ones' recommendations we thought we had our bases covered. Upon helping my Dad finish the assembly and place in his lawn we enjoyed watching the spinner. It looked beautiful and the finish reflected the sunshine. So our review was 4 stars.Less than 5 days later I received a call from my parents to inform me that during a windy morning (according to the weather service winds were 10-12 miles per hour) 2 of the arms on the spinner had broken off! Now we were all upset as we knew their area sometimes received winds greater than what had been that morning and the spinner was now broken. That is why this review will only get 3 stars. There are obvious manufacturing problems! Before I had a chance to locate my paper work from the purchase and call my parents with further instructions my Dad had taken the spinner arms to a machine shop to be rewelded. Plow and Hearth does have a year warranty on the product but now it had been welded back together and had cost an additional $27. I called customer support to report the problem and try to receive some sort of compensation due to the added expense and the fact that we were not where the item was and to get it sent back was now going to be a major problem. I was informed that all agents who handles these type of problems were in meetings that day and she took my name, number, complaint and email address and assured me that my call would be returned within a couple of days. No problem, I replied. One week later, still no call or contact, so I returned the call and went through the scenario again, to be told they would have to check to see how to handle the problem since the item had been repaired. I either wanted a new spinner head assembly or a refund for the out of pocket amount that had been spent to have the spinner repaired. Not to mention any of the cost that I had gone above with to give the product added stability per the previous reviews. After being put on hold a couple of times to I assume discuss the issue with a supervisor I was informed that a new spinner head assembly would be shipped to me. I am thankful that Plow and Hearth agreed to do that rather than demand the original product be returned as we would have still been out of pocket the repair fee. I also suggested the reviews be read and possibly the manufacturing process for this item be revised to include the revisions for added stability.I do recommend this product but please be cautious of using in high wind areas and please follow the other recommendations to add to the stability of the product.

Just what we were looking for!
By Twins and a yard
from Tewksbury, MA
This was a gift for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day. She lives with us and is very passionate about the yard. When she opened this spinner, she gasped! She loved it, and even though it was raining, insisted that we try to put it up right away. The spinner is large, but the paddles turn quite easily. What we did not expect was that in addition to the "wheels" on the spinner turning like a clock, the entire top of the spinner unit (both wheels at the same time) can spin as well. This means that you cannot have the spinner facing a single direction. For example, if you wanted the "faces" of the spinner to face the road, the wind may turn it so that it is not perpendicular to the road. This is not a problem, it was just unexpected.

Perfect for light breezes or heavy winds
from Vista, CA
THis is an awesome spinner. Each set of spoons rotate in a different direction. It is in constant motion, either a slow lazy spin, with soft summer breezes off the canyon, or fast and furious with strong canyon gusts. fascinating to watch. High quality materials. I have had this for 6 months and it has worked perfectly from day one.

We like the appearance of the unit and it was easy to set up, but some of the welds on the stems are of poor quality and they will snap off if the two wheels become tangled, as ours did when a bearing came loose. Plow & Hearth replaced the defective unit and the new one is spinning merrily away in our yard.
Doesn't spin in opposite directions!

I really wanted one that spins in opposite direction to create the mesmerizing effect I was hoping for.

Gave to my husband for our 20th anniversary. We have several acres and it adds some motion and movement to the yard. We are moving it around to find the best place for it.

Beautiful- even better than expected!
from Boulder, CO
Put it together immediately and stuck it outside the minute the snow melted enough to see the ground. I am 6' tall, and it is about 6 inches shorter than me when in the ground. It spins almost constantly in seemingly random ways. It looks beautiful even when it isn't spinning. Even at full price, I am thinking of buying another one for my brother. It is the prettiest thing outside now!

what a perfect addition to my yard art! it spins effortlessly and works just as advertised. i couldn't figure out why it looked crooked one morning - turns out the constant spinning had "unscrewed" the center joint! LOL! everyone who sees it asks where i got it. THANK YOU P&H for glamorizing the back of my yard - it's the first thing i look at every morning when i look out my bedroom window!
Would buy again
I can tell if the wind is blowing without going out.

Works great, packaged poorly
from New Jersey
I have had this for a week and it is working just fine. It is mesmerizing to watch. The only complaint that I have is that it was packed poorly and had no instructions, whatsoever, on how to assemble it. I was surprised that all the small parts were just rolling around in the bottom of the box, and if I had not looked for them, or if the box had been damaged, they may have been lost. I imagine most people would have difficulty installing the rings that snap in to hold the bearings. I used a 45-degree needle-nosed pliers. I don't know how else they could have been installed. When I opened the box, Styrofoam dust went everywhere! I would suggest they come up with a better way to pack it, put the small parts in a sealed bag and include assembly instructions.Other than that, after assembled and set in the yard, it works just fine. No complaints! Very pleased!

looks great by my little lake. The neighbors like it and its very attractive to looks at and watch spin.
Short and Sweet
from Lone Star State
While my husband and I were fairly impressed with the overall appearance, one of the blade wheels spins freely in the wind, while the other merely "rocks back and forth". Only in cases of extremely strong wind gusts does that rocking wheel actually spin---and then only briefly. It appears to us that it is not properly balanced, as the same leaf-shaped blade is on the bottom (6 o'clock position) at all times. Also, as someone else mentioned, this is considerably smaller in person than the photos make it appear. However that smaller size is not a problem, as it is truly charming. We have reported the faulty wheel to customer service, and a new and hopefully perfect one is on the way. Were it not for these two problems, I would give it a strong 4 or possibly a 5. As to recommending, I can only say "Yes" and "No", depending on one's expectations and level of perfectionism.
Have one myself..this one gift

I have a 6 ft wooden fence..found wind didn't get to it as well as I liked so I bought a section of copper & inserted it in the bottom..added top section...& now it works great!!! I've had mine since last summer...this one is gift!

I purchased this spinner as a gift for my father after he saw similar/extremely expensive ones in Kennebunkport, ME. It is easy to assemble and the finish is very nice. We took the recommendations from previous reviewers to make it sturdier against high winds. We added a piece of rebar to the core of the pole for added weight and stability. We also added pieces of PVC pipe in the ground where the stakes would go into the ground to further stabilize the pole from wearing out the holes in the ground during high winds and wet ground. We thought we had all of the bases covered and it looked beautiful. Unfortunately, today, 2 weeks after beginning to use in his yard 2 of the propellers broke off in the wind. He has now taken it to have those rewelded on the piece. We are very surprised the welds weakened in the wind and broke as when checked all seemed secure.I plan to contact customer support regarding the issue and see what they recommend or plan to do for compensation for the welding.

Love this spinner !!!!
Nice show piece in the gardenEasy AssemblyLooks better than pictureBirthday gift for my husband and he loved it
from Garner, NC
So excited to have found this is a local store. My husband loved it and I was so happy when we put it outside and it started spinning beautifully. Unfortunately 3 weeks after one of the spinners started coming loose. This causes the two spinners to spin into one another. He's had to take it down several times when the wind is really going which kind of defeats the purpose of having! Will be taking it back sadly.
Fun to watch!

Love it. Just wish it had 4 ground stakes instead of 2 for more stability since it tends to be very windy where I live.

Both were purchased as gifts and recipiants LOVE the large spinner! They rotate beautifully and large enough to enjoy from their homes when placed in large yards. Doesn't take much of a breeze to enjoy the facinating spinning.Waiting to see if they go on special so I can afford to purchase one for myself!
broke within 2 days
Delivery was great,Garden sculpture,Needs sturdier parts, the two rotating parts did not stay in place, rendering it unusableReturned to local store; am waiting for new one, should be delivered within next weekHave also given one as a gift; hopefully no problems with second one

This is just the best one I own.I even gave one as a gift to someone who lives on a Bay and they are wild about it also. Only dissapointment is the pole is in 2 sections and wabbles. Fixed that problem and now it works intensley well! Love it!

Should the wheels be balanced?
from Kansas City, MO
I bought this as a gift, but couldn't resist clamping it to a bike repair stand indoors and using a fan. This one works a lot like the video; one wheel turns easily while the other rocks back and forth until the wind gets strong enough to turn it. I noticed the wheel that turns easily is well balanced while the other one is not. The heavy side stays down until the wind is much stronger. I used a couple of magnets to balance it better and I think it works much better. I imagine when it is outside the pole will shake much less this way in stronger winds. No one else has mentioned this.

Our windmill may be facing the wrong direction because when one set of blades turn, the other turns in the same direction, rather than opposite.Or one side may have to be loosened so it can flow in opposite direction. Can you recommend any adjustments to have this beautiful piece work perfectly?
