We had one very similiar in design but with 1/2 inch steel from china. It had signs of wear the 1st week. The grate on that one wore out quick and the steel went right after.

We have had this one a few weeks, daily fires with no sign of wear at all. Sits a little taller then the last one we tried which seems to help the burn/airflow. Wood burns completely. I would recommend this one.

We've been using this grate for a decade and it has held up very well to some real abuse. It holds hot coals directly under the wood so the fire burns longer, hotter and cleaner. And there's almost nothing else like this made in the good ol' U.S.A. anymore!

Best grate we have had. We burn 3 cords a season and after the first week of use we have noticed better burn, better fire, smaller ash and this grate was $100 less than what I saw at my local fireplace dealer. They had the same grate on clearance for [$]. All I can say is, Great grate! Thanks Plow and Hearth.

We shopped all around for a new fireplace grate when our old one broke. Most of the ones we found were small and normal size logs hung off both sides. They didn't have any mesh on them to keep the coals going. The one we bought from Plow and Hearth is fabulous. The logs fit just fine and the mesh is a great idea. It keeps the fire going longer. It was money well worth spending. Thank you. Best of all - it's made in the U.S.A.!!!
