Comments about Product: These look great in my flower garden next to the porch. They are colorful, esp in seasons when there are not many flowers. The stainless balls are worry free re: breakage.
Comments about Product: I am very happy with my gazing ball and love the height of the stand. It is a perfect addition to my garden.
Very pretty & sturdy
Comments about Product: I bought this Iron Scroll Stand to hold the 10" Recycled Mouth- Blown Glass Gazing Ball and they are perfect together. This stand is heavy & attractive.
Comments about Product: I just received this so I don't know how weather resistant it is that's why the 4 stars. Otherwise, looks great with my black/gold gazing ball, lightweight but not flimsy and I'm using it on my front lawn. Price was right!!
I would purchase again.
Comments about Product: I purchased the Blue one as a gift for someone else. By the end of the summer one side was faded and the coating was coming off. Maybe they can be sprayed with "Clear Coat".

Just what I was looking for!!
Comments about Product: I have been looking for a blue gazing ball and was not able to find one in my local retail stores. It really looks nice on a stand in my flower garden.
Comments about Product: Love my gazing ball for durability; but the multi colors don't show up as much as I'd like. It just looks like plain silver most of the time.
Garden gazing ball
Comments about Product: Item was delivered in a timely fashion but the quality was not as expected. Not as shiny as magazine picture and had scratches. Not sure it is worth the money but don't feel like returning.

Gazing at the glazing
Comments about Product: I've had to replace too many glass balls. This one is virtually unbreakable. The color is striking, changing to reflect the surroundings. This is truly a "gazing ball"!

Just what I was looking for.
Comments about Product: Had this on my wish list for sometime. [...] Looks exactly as it does in the catalog. [...]
gazing ball and stand
Comments about Product: I like the look but am disappointed in how light weight it is. It knocks over very easily, wish the ball was heavier.
color fades even in shade
Comments about Product: Received the blue ball and stand as a gift. Placed it in the shade and was very happy. BUT within a year, the color came off in whole sections and the ball is so ugly I have taken it down. Very disappointed. I thought Plow and Hearth had good quality products.
Gazing Ball Quickly Fades
Comments about Product: I purchased this two years ago. The Gazing Ball quickly faded the first year from bright red to a dull red yellow. I contacted Plow and Hearth and received an automated reply that they would contact me. I never heard back. I have been a frequent customer and I buy gifts and items for myself several times a year. I am very disappointed in the lack of a reply.
The Column on the other hand is very nice.

Comments about Product: I bought the blue steel gazing ball and it faded to silver... it was always in the shade.. the red was out in the sun and it never faded...
Comments about Product: Have had my gazing ball 1 month, fading & peeling!! Looks terrible, will not buy from you anymore.
wont fool anyone, looks like resin
Comments about Product: sadly, even from a distance, the 12" stand looks fake. it would be too flimsy for our gulf breezes, but i will drill a hole to fill base with sand and hope for the best although i also have concerns re how it will hold up to full sun here in florida. the ball is nice quality but i will need to use clear silicone caulk to keep it in place, as there is no post. i would have gladly paid more for a stone composite base, rather than resin, in this style.
Red Gazing Ball - perfect!!
Comments about Product: I had seen a red gazing ball among red heirloom hollyhocks in Cabria, CA some years ago. I bought the hollyhock seeds and have lovely plants, but couldn't find the ball. I recently found a catalog from 2010, and there it was. Thank you so mluch.
Comments about Product: Used as an ornament for my perennial garden. Purchased in January '13. By April the coloring was coming off. Apparently they are coated with something like cellophane, a very thin film.
After contacting P&H they graciously offered not only to replace the item but took care of the shipping as well. In this case, pleased with the company, not with the product. I'll see how the next one holds up.
the blue is a beauty
Comments about Product: like the blue
Loved it!! Then Disappointed.
Comments about Product: I rec'd a red gazing ball as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. By mid summer the red was fading. Now there is very little color left. I loved having it in the midst of a flower bed. It is sturdy but that doesn't make up for it fading.
Gazing Ball Column Stand
Comments about Product: Beautiful, just what I needed for the gazing ball. Looks perfect.
By summertime sweetheart
Comments about Product: solid without being to heavy to handle.

Love, my new stainless steel gazing ball
Comments about Product: Looks great in my flower bed. I like that it is stainless steel and won't break if a limb falls or the wind blows it over. We also love the color which is called mystic. Delivery was very fast with no problems.
I wish it came in green!
Comments about Product: I had this gazing ball in blue for years and it stayed beautiful! Unfortunately, someone else thought so, too, because it was stolen out of my yard!
Love the height
Comments about Product: It was a great purchase, I don't buy a lot from the internet. I so prefer to go to the stores and pick up whatever I am looking for but the stores don't carry many or any gazing ball stands. Let alone the one I found on the Plow and Hearth.
Red Stainless Steel Gazing Ball
Comments about Product: I was quite surprised to see how the color faded from a brilliant red to a milky red. Should I have ordered another color?

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
