Solid Eucalyptus Outdoor Storage Box

I was concerned by some bad reviews which, after setting up the chest, I don't understand. It has hydraulic hinges which keep the top lid from accidently falling on your hands. Easy to assemble. In winter I will cover this as outdoor items don't survive Chicago winters without protection. It is very handy to keep all my furniture covers in as well as miscellaneous items

The product looked great at first but after a year the wood has split and the box is coming apart

We are very pleased with this item!

The package arrived with the styrofoam packaging in pieces, which went everywhere as we unpackaged. But what was really terrible was that styrofoam had melted to every piece of the unit. I tried to clean it, but the wood is jagged and it was impossible to clean without getting splinters. Since the styrofoam isn't visible and we'd waited 10 days for this (which was purchased after searching for some time) we decided to keep it. Assembly is fast, except the hinges for the lid, which don't line up property. Not sure if it's because the hinges aren't on, but the lid doesn't shut securely. And we didn't realize the bottom wasn't solid, so I'm not clear how this is intended for outdoor use. A much cheaper product than it looks, but it fills a need.

I use this on a second story deck for storing cushions and other items during high winds and rain. I really appreciate that it is so well ventilated. However, it's just as pictured in the catalogue. The lid doesn't close all the way. The enclosed directions show the lid closed when completed, but it doesn't. So to use it for our purposes, we simply removed the "safety" hinges.

Just one negative, and that was part of the assembly instructions. It isn't clear how the arms that hold up the lid should be attached. The rest of the instructions were excellent.
