Comments about Product: I put two strings of these solar lights on my rear patio cover months ago. They pop on at night, as soon as it is dark enough and are still on when I go to bed. I LOVE them. They put off a nice soft glow. Guests compliment me on them every time. They have worked consistently and perfectly. When I was installing them, the stars came off some of the lights. But after I replaced them upon stringing, not one of them has come off. I love them and will buy more for the other half of my patio!
Comments about Product: We us these lights when boon docking in our travel trailer. They add atmosphere to the camping spot in the evening. The wire and stars tangle easily, so you need to wrap the wire around a piece of cardboard and always check to see if you lost any stars.
Comments about Product: I thought the product was easy to assemble and set up. I've draped them around the barbecue pavilion and they give off a bit of light, not a lot but then I was just looking for some illumination so people could see where they are and what's around them.
Comments about Product: The lights sit on the bow of our boat with the solar collector outside. They worked well for two years. We just had to replace them now since the solar charger no longer works. But we loved them enough to replace them.
Comments about Product: I used these under my trumpet vine on an arbor and in the backyard on a trellis. They light up every night, even in bad weather. One night our electricity went out from a bad storm, and my neighbors called to see if we had power when they did not because of the lights. The star shapes are also perfect for an American summer. My husband wants to use them year round!
Comments about Product: Read all the reviews and almost did not order.
Took a chance and have been very happy.
The lights came with all stars already capping the LEDs. I just took a minute to confirm they were firmly on, followed the directions to let them charge before trying to us, and sat back a day later to nice mood lighting. I decorated my Victorian porch with 6 strands of these and patriotic bundting. Everyone loves the look. I am sure I will use for Christmas too.
Comments about Product: I ordered two strings of these lights and hung them from my patio cover about three months ago. I quite simply LOVE them. The come on every night at dusk and stay on until who knows when (because I am in bed!). It is a stary, stary night every night on my patio and I love to look at them from both inside and outside. I hope they last a long time, being up all the time. I am thinking I may need to order more, I love them so much! Yes, while hanging, the starts popped off, but once I had them in place, not one has fallen off!
Comments about Product: I wanted to light up my backyard deck for the holidays and was rather disappointed by the lack of performance of the lights. The directions did not agree with the product as there was no on/off switch nor an explanation of the switch with a 1 and 2. The other products I have purchased at Plow and Hearth have always performed as advertised.
Comments about Product: these pretty lights actually do light up a space! make sure they are on tight & check after high winds...BEFORE your gardener uses the blower! they are now including some extra stars? that was our suggestion from the start.
i have sent them as gifts twice now. and a neighbor ordered some too.
Comments about Product: Extremely pleased with our first two sets of the Solar Star Lights. Stars are small, delicate and gives off a soft twinkly light. We just ordered two more sets. Would highly recommend this product.
Comments about Product: These give just the right amount of light. A nice icy blue look just like real stars. Solar lights are never really bright. I don't know why people think they are. If you want lights that illuminate brightly don't buy string lights! Lol
Comments about Product: Really a great item for where we needed it the most. I intertwined the star lights throughout a trellised ivy pyramid piece (8' tall). Its a perfect piece as it allows evening glow in a area that is much needed. While installing, the stars did fall off at first, but easy to reattach and placed a little supper-glue to each one. We have had more compliments about this piece, area walkers that we don't even know have came to the door to enquire about the lights, they are amazed to learn that they are too solar powered. If you have direct sun, thses little lights are perfect and are on for many hours throughout the night.
Comments about Product: I have wrapped a small magnolia in the center of my very dark back yard with three strands. On the nights following sunny days the lights are still on until dawn; they are a beautiful focal point during the long dark nights of winter. I will leave them on all summer too. Everyone comments how cheering they are.
Comments about Product: I read the reviews saying "stars fall off too easily"... As I strung these up they snagged on posts, outdoor curtains and NEVER PULLED OFF. They are pleasantly brighter than I expected... no, you can't read by them, but they light up enough to walk around things. Very satisfied.
Comments about Product: We used these light around our pool and they give off nice decorative lighting. Should not be used for visibility. When placing the solar panel place where weedwhacker and lawnmower will not interfere as with our experience. My husband was aware of the middle strand placement but the solar panel easily shatters with lawncare. We are overall very happy with these and have ordered replacements.
Comments about Product: I have had no problems with this product. Nothing has fallen off so far, and the switch has buttons for on/off, steady/flash - can't get any more straightforward than that. The stars are a good size and quality and look beautiful during the day as well as the evening. They add to the patriotic holiday theme on my porch but I might leave them up into the winter!
Comments about Product: These stars are perfectly lovely! They're much larger than I expected and the light string is very long. I have them suspended out on my deck, but they would be really beautiful on a tree or somewhere out in a yard. Other purchasers have mentioned that the stars fall apart and that did happen with about 3 or 4 of them, but it was easy enough to snap them back together. I have made it a point to purchase many different types of solar lights for our deck and these were a wonderful addition. At night, it looks like a fairy land out there! They are unique to my solar light collection.
Comments about Product: as other reviewers have noted, lights arrived with stars unattached to lights. After putting the stars back on the lights, they fell off frequently while hanging the string. Lights don't hold a charge more than 1 or 2 days at most and user must remember to turn the lights OFF during the day to recharge. This is very annoying. Definitely not worth the money and I would not recommend to a friend. [...] in replacing the first set that quit working after two charges, but it's a terrible product.
Comments about Product: So far it is jworking fine and just what I wanted. I'm guessing the stars were not made for these LCD lights and they do not attach securely. I was able to get back on the ones that fell off and so far they look great. I don't think any of it is terribly secure or take much moving around.
Comments about Product: I had to return this item after just a few weeks as they stopped working on the stay on setting. I have not put the replacement lights up yet, but am hoping for a better results.
Comments about Product: The lights are very dim so aren't bright enough to be useful for anything but just decoration. But they are attractive strung on our open patio cover. The solar feature is great so we didn't have electrical cords hanging.
Comments about Product: Purchased this for DAD to decorate our new deck. Stars fell off as soon as it was removed from the box. My husband said that he hoped we hadn't spent much money because it was pretty cheap. He said it was difficult to decipher the off/on switch. Also, 1/4 of the string has no lights so it doesn't cover as much of the deck rail as I was hoping.
Comments about Product: I use these for highlights to my garden edging. The stars fell off immediately (some were off when I received them) and are difficult to replace because of sharpness and continue to fall. Thought I was getting the same star lights I received about five years ago. Am VERY disappointed.
Comments about Product: Having the on/off switch is very annoying. You have to leave it off for 2 days to charge it. But the switch is difficult to read & move. Couldn't figure it out until I cut the "Protective coating " off.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
