I used to dread splitting wood, but with this smart splitter it is so much easier, I can split wood that is too big for my wood stove, plus it has an extra blade to split wood for kindling. This splitter is best for smaller pieces. Over all i have fun splitting wood now.

I purchased this log splitter for my husband for Christmas and he finished splitting wood faster than I ever imagined. Not only was it fast, but it was easy. He said the set up was easy, the concept was great and the wood split with no problems - even wide, big logs. I would recommend this item for anyone who doesn't want to break their back or arms chopping wood with an ax. Great product!

Fairly easy to set up - just drill a hole with the bit that comes with the splitter. Good to have a good heavy log base to mount splitter to. This works best on dried logs about 16" long; and then the work goes really fast. As a girl, this is perfect for me. The 'axe' piece stays safely attached to a rod; no fear of swinging it someplace it shouldn't go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It is perfect for our needs. We order cords of wood for our wood burning stove and sometimes the pieces are top big for our stove, so we need to cut them. This is perfert for us.

REALLY DOES THE JOB. JUST WISH THEY SUPPLIED THE 12 INCH DIA. LOG I NEEDED FOR THE BASE TO SPLIT THE WOOD ON! I HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE FINDING ONE, BUT ONCE I HAD IT SET UP, IT WAS THE BOMB!

It works just like it is shown to in the video. I was surprized because so many things one orders now days does not work as advertized. This does. I've split 18" wlhite oak with it with no problem.

I love the safety and efficiency of this device (I am a female), but the plastic spacer betweent the weight and the maul-part is already cracked and chipped, which is too bad. This is the reason I only gave it 4 stars. Maybe they could supply a few spares of this part?

This is one of the best tools ever! I bought the splitter because I thought it would make splitting wood easier for my husband who has severe arthritis. I couldn't have been more right! I also can help with this chore now because it is so much easier. The quality is superb and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

The Smart Splitter turned out to be a great investment. It makes splitting wood so much easier - maybe even fun. We have split logs with it that we couldn't possibly split with a maul -huge logs, green, heavy, stringy. It does take some effort but nothing like swinging a maul. And you don't have to prop up the log you are aiming at - the splitter easily holds it in place. How nice is that!

The only problems we had were getting the hole drilled plumb and straight, and figuring out the proper height. Also the fixation bolt loosens after awhile and needs to be tightened. It's a little noisy but no complaints from the neighbors yet.

So there's a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. Splits kindling too - fast! We love this thing.

This is a great tool. It's amazing to watch the wood split with relatively little effort. Some logs require many strokes but it is so much easier, efficient and sure-fire than splitting with an ax or splitter.

This has been the best tool ever. My husband was in a serious accident last summer and is trying to regain the use of his arms. This tool lets him split wood easily and safely. It gives him a good feeling to know he can help keep us warm this winter.

This product is just as easy to use as the video makes it seem! Very sturdy, my husband says it should last years and years. I called my firewood provider to get the "foundation stump". He just included it in with our regular order of wood.

First let me say this wood splitter works great. I am a 69 year old female and this tool allows me to split wood 12 inches in diameter...even wider if needed. It is easy to use. It is important to use common sense when using this. Wear a sturdy shoe, use gloves and it is not a bad idea to use eye protection. I am glad to see Plow & Hearth carry this item. I brought mine about two years ago after a friend let me use his. Plow & Hearth also has a good price on the splitter.
