Comments about Product: Last year we ordered battery operated candles for our windows. This year we wanted to add more to our display. The first CSR told us that these items were discontinued. We were apalled to think that we had spent a fair amount of money on items that we could no longer purchase only a year later!
The second CSR told us that the product was NOT discontinued and that we certainly could order more candles. When the order arrived only the replacement bulbs were shipped. The invoice indicated the candles were backordered. And the color of the base of the replacement bulbs was wrong.
It seemed that what was listed in the printed catalogue differed from what the CSR could see.
We love the candles we have but have had frustration trying to get more.
Comments about Product: We use these candles in the front windows of our home. They add great beauty and are quite easy to maintain. I have never enjoyed Christmas decorations as much as I enjoy these.
Comments about Product: Love these candles. I wasn't sure about ordering them for fear that they would be cheaply made. They are not. The base has a good weight to it. Mine have been knocked out of the windows many times by my cats and have survived. I just wish I could buy more. Be very careful about ordering!!. I had them in my basket as well as several replacement bulbs. The offer was for free shipping. The candles were actually out of stock but the bulbs were shipped anyway and I was charged for shipping which they will not refund. Why would I want replacement bulbs when I can't get the candles??? Hello!!!!
Comments about Product: I love the convenience of these candles, but I cannot stand having orange (yellow flame) or that cold LED blueish white (white flame) colored bulbs to choose from. I have both and neither is pleasing or natural. Could you please manufacture a bulb for these in a natural warm white color? Five stars then if you do.
Comments about Product: I put these in the upstairs windows as decoration for the Christmas holiday. The timer on them works great. The quality of the product was poor. Very cheap plastic througout and I question how long they will be viable.
Comments about Product: I fondly remember electric candles in my mother's windows at Christmas -- but they had cords and were ugly. These are easy to use, attractive bases, the timer really works, and usage could not be simpler. When guests come to my house in the winter, they see the welcoming light of candles -- and the candles are safe.
Comments about Product: My candles were made in Taiwan and were great I ordered more and now they are made in China. They are not as nice as my first ones. i dropped one and the light bulb broke, Plow and hearth tried to get a replacement but were unable to so now I am sending them back for a full refund. They were helpful and i am happy for the refund, you can't have 3 candles and 4 windows.
Comments about Product: It is so nice to come home on a cold evening and see these candles in our windows. I do wish the light was white, otherwise they are perfect. No longer have to fear for hot bulbs.
Comments about Product: Love these window candles. So much easier then dealing with wires. But I do wish the candles had a white candle vs orange. That said, they still look warm and inviting from the cold outside!
Comments about Product: These candles are beautiful and unique - I searched the internet and saw nothing else out there. I wanted to get rid of all the electric cords. I have installed candles on my sunporch and use them year round. I was looking for a less expensive solution for the rest of the house. The timer is a must! My problem is I am having trouble getting used to the yellow-orange LED light. I am thinking it is tacky. The most helpful review was the one from the bed and breakfast. I tell myself if it is good enough for a Victorian, it is good enough for my 1920 Dutch Colonial. What do you think about the LED?
Comments about Product: This is a great single candle to put in windows around the hotel. We are on a bluff above the beach and the lights can be seen out in the ocean. It is an victorian hotel with 4 levels.
Comments about Product: I needed a candle light to put in an area that had a stained glass, but did not have an outlet. This fit the bill perfectly and provides a nice nightlight at the top of the stairs of our old house! The on/off feature works well and would buy more of these.
Comments about Product: I bought four candlesticks in brass and they look very elegant on our windowsills. When you want the candle to turn on, you twist the bulb on and then it automatically shuts off in 8 hours, remains off for 16, and comes back on for the next cycle. It's great not having to shut them off every night and not having cords to worry about. I wanted extra bulbs and thought the LED's would be great, so I bought the "White" LED bulbs (recommended for the brass candlesticks). We didn't like the blue cast from the white LED bulbs, so after trying them only one night, everyone urged me to go back to the more warm and realistic bulbs that came with the candles. I hope replacement bulbs will be easy to find when they finally burn out.
Comments about Product: Put these candles out this afternoon and then by pure coincidence, our town had a power failure which lasted about 2.5 hours. The candles were already activated and were the only light source for the whole street. We each took a candle and used them to walk around the house. They gave a nice amount of light and look quite pretty. The LED bulbs stayed cool so even the kids could carry them around. Very happy with this product and will probably keep them handy year-round in case of fluke power outages! The only con I had was screwing in the bulbs. I had to try a few times in order to have them screw in properly.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
