This product is a high quality piece. Some have stated that attaching the retaining springs to the light can was difficult. I found that by using a long sharpened pencil inserted in the spring eyelet made navigating the spring onto the tab in the can through the trim opening easy. Product arrived in a few days after ordering.

About Me Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
I installed 10 of these in my newly renovated house. The installation was tricky at first, but if you follow the instructions, and lower the can and light, you will have them installed in no time. I have had many compliments on how they look.
What a difference!
from Chicopee, MA
I purchased the bronze trim rings for the recessed lighting in my kitchen. What a difference they made! My recessed lighting went from boring and harsh to a really polished look. The lighting is softened just enough. I'll admit I was nervous to order them reading the reviews stating they were difficult to install, but was delighted at how easy they actually were to install - the key is using the recommended pencil to hook them on. These are definitely a must-have!
from Detroit MI
Looks much nicer than the trim rings that came with my recessed lights. Price is good, compared to other catalog sources. Tough to install; I finally cut a notch in the end of a long 1/4 inch dowel and used it to poke the end of the spring up into the light canister. Perhaps such a gizmo could be supplied along with the trim ring???

ring incompatible with recessed light
By Al Homeowner
from Nags Head, NC
Springs used to hold ring in place are designed to hook into holes in the side of recessed light. Our light has no holes - therefore could not install. This needs to be pointed out in catalogue write-up. Had to return items for a refund.

I ordered five of these in the bronze for my kitchen. They went up easily after I played around with the first one. ( use a pen or pencil as recommended in the instructions!! ) They are well made and just beautiful... I love subtle, classy impact in my kitchen. I also installed two of the screw -in linen glass shade pendant lights near the sink... they look great together!!!
Not bad to install
from Weld, Maine
Found using a small phillips screw driver makes the install so much easier than a pencil. Looks great after they are in. Ordered 8 of them

Loved the look and quality of this product but disappointed that the rings were too large to fit the existing size of the spot light fixtures in my house. I would suggest the minimum size opening be included in the product description.
dont judge book by cover
Advertised as 'snap-on' - requires removal of ring and attachment to can - not compatible with type of can in ceiling - unable to use.
Great product once you figure it out
Turn off electric to lights before starting. I had to push up the bulb socket inside a little to reveal slots to attach the springs. After attaching the springs, I had to pull the sockets back down as far down to their original position. I needed to use a socket extender and a four inch bulb. You cannot have large hands and do this!!! Even with the hassle this is a better option for us than replacing the lights. These rings fit our 6" (25 yrs old) can lights well but it took a while to figure out where to put the springs!! Hope I did it right!!

Classy Trim Ring

Dresses up a dull light. As long as you use a pencil to help you install it will go fine.
Easy Lighting Upgrade
from Burlington, VT
Quick and easy upgrade to dated recessed lights. Use the pencil in the spring loop and these rings snap right into place quickly. The quality is good and they look great.

Description needs much more detail. Can't use in new type all enclosed cans. Color looks more like copper, the underside of ring is the correct color of bronze. Therefore, does not match the pendant lights we bought from P&H.Have to use smaller diameter bulbs.
Wish I had purchased more

After reading the reviews, it was a matter of realizing after all these years that the inside of the flood light casings were adjustable. Our lights were always at different depths depending on brand. 123, we lowered them from the inside, installed the new rings which are gorgeous. Wish I'd had the confidence to order for the bathroom to get the lower price.

Though attractive, these trim rings do not fit the insulated cans (Juno Brand in particular).

We Love the Trim Rings
By Phil the Walker
from Orange County CA
We purchased 7 of the bronze rings for kitchen. The catalog doesn't provide enough detail about size and installation. These are made for cans which hold 7" bulbs. That's important because the new ring is for 4" bulbs. There is an included adapter can that fits inside the larger can. Hardest part of installation is attaching springs inside can. I tried both a ball pen and a long needle-nose. Both worked pretty well, and speed improved as I went along. It's also hard to install the light bulb because of tight space. I found a small suction cup at hardware and it worked well. Complete installation instructions are included. The rings are attractive and good quality. Worth the cost.
Look great, tricky to install
from Glenside, PA
These are of exceptional quality and design. The flaw that I found is not unique to this product, but common to all rings of this type. The spring based attachment is just tedious to install.

Beautiful finishing touch to a light

I put these in my newly remodeled kitchen - they look beautiful. Really put the finishing touch on the lighting for that room. I had my electrician install them because the cans we had needed to be replaced so that these rings fit.
By Maggie's Mom
This truly lends an air of elegance to inset lighting. Our only complaint is that installation was not easy. It did not go in the way the ones you buy at [...] and my husband had a hell of a time getting it to hook on properly.

This product was exactly what I was looking for & unable to find out there anywhere else. Found other bronze rings but not in a simple classic design. Looks very rich. Love them, there were not a disappointment!

I previously bought some recessed light trim rings from Plow and Hearth that looked nice. These are obviously inferior,
