Comments about Product: We are delighted with our wool hearth rug. The pattern is somewhat more muted than in the photograph and for us this is a good thing...it blends so well with everything in our living room.
Comments about Product: A nice heavy weave, this rug is obviously a quality step above what many offer as a hearth rug. It would be even nicer in an over-sized piece, but it serves the purpose adequately, cleans easily, and lays flat after the first day or so of "break in." The wife loves it and that is the important thing.
Comments about Product: I bought this hearth rug after an extensive Internet search. Glad I did my homework as it is a really good quality rug. Bought it in the sage to match my new sofa and it blends well. Nice and thick and the shape is an interesting bonus.
Comments about Product: This was my first order ever with you. I received e-mails daily about specials but never any communication about the fact my rug was on back order. It took me having to call to find out that is was going to take a month and a half to get.
Comments about Product: The rug came within 5 days of order, is the exact color as in the catalog, and one of my cats seems to like it a lot... he sleeps on it often. I haven't used it with a fire in the fireplace yet, but hope it protects my hardwood floor well.
Comments about Product: It's being used in front of our fire place, over wall to wall carpeting. It is high quality wool, the ivory sage colored rug is muted in tone(s)and does match the picture both on-line and in catalogue. I searched locally and found NOTHING nearly as nice nor in the price range. This rates high praises from me for this item and, in fact, all my purchases from P&H!
Comments about Product: It is a nice rug, not a great rug.The quality is good. But I should have read the reviews before I bought it. It definitely is a moss green instead of sage and the ivory is definitely not ivory , it is a grey taupe color. The colors look nothing like the picture. It is not bright it is kind of dingy.I think the person I gave it to just was being nice and kept it. They really need to change the picture and the color they have listed.
Comments about Product: I have been looking for a pretty hearth rug for years, and I tried a couple, but they never felt right. I LOVE this one. The colors are so beautiful and rich (I ordered the black with red), and the scallop border finishes the look so prefectly. I actually don't have a real fireplace, but one that has the gel cans, but it definitely needs a hearth rug to complete the look, and this was it. I didn't even mind paying this price because I knew how nice it would look.
Comments about Product: great looking hearth rug. we needed a small but generous size hearth rug to protect our carpet from wood dirt etc. we had a hard time finding this size. this is about 1 foot larger then most which would be too small. we have a stone hearth for the stove but the carpet gets dirty in front so a semi fireproof rug keeps the carpet clean. this is scalloped so it looks different and it is very thick and durable. love it.
Comments about Product: Plow and Hearth has ALWAYS had the best service and high quality items! The fireplace rug is gorgeous and the perfect size.....super high quality....super thick......breathtaking in the room! LOOOVE the service! You can't go wrong with Plow and Hearth. This is not our first purchase, so you can believe me!
Comments about Product: High quality rug - thick with tight, heavy pile. Wish it was just a little wider, but serves the purpose. However, the ivory/sage is not true to color. Looks like ivory and soft sage in picture - actual rug is olive green and ivory is almost a gray taupe. Not completely happy with color, but returning is expensive so decided to keep. So quality is 5 stars, but size and especially color lower rating. Recommend with caution on color.
Comments about Product: I purchased the wool scalloped hearth rug a few weeks ago. It looks so nice in front of my coal stove. Well made, soft and the colors are beautiful. My cats love laying in front of the fire.
Comments about Product: service and delivery were great, as always. ive ordered rugs from u before and was always completely satisfied. but this rug does not match the colors in the catalog or on line. still debating on keeping it or not.
Comments about Product: We love this hearth rug.The only thing is that the red color is more of an orangey hue, but it will still blend with our new carpeting. We have yet to see if it is really flame retardant as advertised which is the main reason for purchase.
Comments about Product: This is a great hearth rug. I prefer wool since it doesn't melt like synthetics and is fire-resistant like fiberglass, but is certainly softer and cozier. The design is very nice, too. Not over-the-top fancy. My one complaint is the color was listed as ivory. The picture showed ivory with small areas of green. And the label on the rug says ivory for the color. However, it is most definitely NOT ivory. The predominant color is green. The fault is not Plow and Hearth's. It is the manufacturer's. It is not an unpleasant color, but is a disappointment, since this was chosen as a gift and the actual color may not go with the recipient's decor. Otherwise, it's not only a sturdy, useful rug, it is beautiful.
Comments about Product: This rug is a beautiful addition to show-off your wood stove or fireplace. It adds such warmth, color, and softness to the hearth! We have a tile hearth and this quality wool rug has added beauty and warmth--feels so good on your bare feet! Our pets love it too and it does not seem to collect a lot of pet hair. The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
