          Comments about Plowhearth Rotary Composter:

Great product that works fast. Users will have to get a good routine of adding dry mulch or spraying a bit of water as needed for their area. In Georgia mine tended to dry out fast. Now living in Northern Virginia I have the opposite problem. But I just add more shredded paper if no mulched leaves are ready. We keep two mulch containers next to ours as mulch is usually ready in a few weeks during the warmer months. Next to worm composters, there is not much better than this.

I just got this last night and am shocked at how easy it was to put together. I researched so many composters and am very happy I bought this one. Love the double sides, door closes well and is easy to spin.

PURCHASED A COMPOSTER WITH ONE COMPARTMENT FROM A LOCAL HARDWARE.THEN CAME THE CATALOG FROM P&H WITH THE NEW COMPOSTER. I RETURNED THE FIRST ONE AND PURCHASED THE ONE FROM P&H. ITS THE ONLY WAY TO GO.IF YOU CONTINUALLY FEED YOUR COMPOSTER WITH KITCHEN SCRAPS,ETC, YOU MUST HAVE A TWO COMPARTMENT COMPOSTER TO DO THE JOB. FEEDING ONE SIDE, WHILE THE OTHER SIDE IS "WORKING".. EXCELLENT DESIGN.

                Comments about Plowhearth Rotary Composter:

When I read prior reviews I was daunted in regards to assembling the composter. If the assembly instructions had been better articulated then it would have been easier. However, it was not that difficult, and with patience and common sense assembly took at most 40 minutes. It is well designed; there is an ease of use with no need to bend down to access - nor difficulty in opening - the sliding panel/door. It is easy to rotate even with one hand. Instructions to cut up kitchen scraps, and to mix them with leaves is a great tip. I'm pleased with the product!

don't get me wrong so far i love my new composter, but read the directions several times and make sure you look at the pictures to start out right or it will only lead to complications. as far as am concerned that is the only thing wrong with the composter is putting it together. after i took it apart and re-read the directions i had it together in about 45 minutes.

                  Comments about Plowhearth Rotary Composter:

Although there were about a million screws, the composter went together easily and pretty quickly in one morning. I am using it in a roof top garden setting and find it great for my needs. I need quick breakdown of large quantities of stuff and need it to be contained and smell free. I do find that I do better if I cut all the ingredients to a uniform size of about 4-6 inches and liberally mix in old potting soil that needs to be regenerated. Several of my neighbors are getting them for next year.

I'm over 65 and had your composter assembled in about 1 - 1/2 hours. started composting right away. time will tell how well the composting goes.. so far so good. I think my husband is a convert... no smell, no critters invading.
I was a little intimidated when I read the reviews on assembly... it really wasn't bad..and I did it by myself!

Nice composter allows you to use the compost from one side while the other side continues to cook. Very easy to spin.
The only drawback is the assembly; it will take you a good amount of time. But it's only nuts and bolts, almost anybody can do it...

We bought this small composter with separate compartments so we can introduce our kids to composting; we figured they can see the process faster in small batches. Putting it together would have been easier with better instructions, but I was able to do it by myself in a relatively short time. It is sturdy, rotates easily for mixing compost, and does not take up much space. We have not harvested our first batch yet, but are adding material to it pretty regularly.

                        Comments about Plowhearth Rotary Composter:

It's a solid product, working well. Mostly I use it for eggshells and raw vegetable odds and ends with a few garden clippings to balance the green and brown waste and create better compost. It's been a month (I used the Plow and Hearth compost starter) and the compost is coming along well. In two months, it will be perfect. On the negative side, I'm still not over the 60 or so screws (plus nuts) it took to put the bin together (it took over 2 hours). Plus I didn't catch the small diagram in the less than adequate instructions that showed that one should screw the panels around the center post, and I had to refinish my dining table top. [...] Still, it's a well-made (and thanks to me, well-screwed) item and it makes composting easier.

Seems to be a great product...have only used for about three weeks so don't have the final goods yet...but it's looking good!!! Much better than trying to do just a pile...didn't work for me. I'm excited and hopeful about this product.

Bought one of these because I've wanted a compost tumbler for years, but have always heard that you have to stop adding to it for awhile to let it "cook". The two-compartment design eliminates the need to buy two separate tumblers. It wasn't difficult to assemble, though there were a lot of pieces, and the finished product is easy to move around, sturdy, and a snap to use. Haven't actually finished a batch yet as we're only a two-person household and have only had it for a couple of months, but so far, so good. I haven't seen anything to make me think that there will be any problems.

I looked for a long time for the right compost bin. This seems to do the job well, and conveniently. It is easy to turn by just spinning the drum.
