Comments about Product: I love this frog! Every time I look at him/her it makes me smile. Just be aware that once put outside, I'm sure his colors will start to fade.Maybe a yearly coating of a clear sealant would do the trick.
Comments about Product: My husband and I are coffee drinkers, so when I saw this adorable and colorful guy I couldn't resist him. Boy, am I glad that I didn't because he's fabulous! Much larger than I thought he'd be and twice as cute! We love this guy! We also bought his cousin, the adorable frog with all of the accessories, and we couldn't be happier with the both of them!
Comments about Product: This frog is, without a doubt, one of the finest purchases I've ever made. My husband has been searching the earth for a frog sculpture that 1) has its legs crossed AT THE KNEE (he is very particular about this), 2) doing an activity of some sort (fishing, drinking coffee, etc), and 3) has a serene expression on its face. You'd be surprised how few ornaments meet all of these requirements. Thank you, Plow and Hearth, for catering to our obscure bid for happiness.
Comments about Product: Yes, Franklin (that's what I've named him)is a little rusty and yes, his paint is a little chipped and scratched but, all of that adds to his charm. I expected it and the photo plainly shows this and he was exactly as depicted and described. "Colorful, eye-catching and delightful!" I just love him!
Comments about Product: Read the reviews and took a chance. There were paint scratches all over the metal. The piece is cute as can be and is made from heavy metal. When ordering remember the piece will not look perfect.
Comments about Product: I bought this frog for my daughter for a birthday gift and am very disappointed to hear that the paint on it is chipping after only 3 months in the garden. I expected better quality for the price and from Plow and Hearth. He is cute but wouldn't recommend.
Comments about Product: I have coffee with this little guy many mornings while I sit on my bench by my pond! He sits on a rock quietly and we both ponder our day!! I am a bit worried that even though I live in SCal and we don't get much rain he might rust out too fast!
I am getting him a friend today - the bunny with the laptop to sit on the other side of the pond.
Comments about Product: I like the frog; however, the frog that arrived did not have all the brown spots on the right arm and leg as it appears on line. At a distance, it's harder to tell what it is so it looks much better closer to the house.
Comments about Product: I bought 2 of these; one to keep and one as a gift. Both arrived with paint already all scratched up. I was so disappointed and called customer service to ask if they thought replacements would be the same. They told me they shouldn't be, as the one in their office looked like the picture with nice paint job. I returned them and received 2 more. They too had very scraped up paint. I returned them & gave up. Wish I had read reviews before ordering and I would have seen others experienced same thing. Picture in catalogue doesn't represent what they actually look like.
Comments about Product: I put "Norman", the coffee frog, in the lanai, on the second tier of a white iron plant stand, among the flower pots. He makes you smile. Don't know why, but he does. All comments to me have been the same - he makes you smile!
Comments about Product: Add great color & art form to our garden .We looked forward to it. We did not know Plow & Hearth sold used goods. It arrived bent, scratched up and the insides full of dirt. It had already started to rust. There was NO Quality control before this product was shipped out? I hope P&H will ship a NEW one & I will return the second hand one ??
Comments about Product: Beware, this is not nearly as colorful as pictured. The paint is dull, scratched and chipped. It should be advertised as looking distressed. Rust was falling off it in the box. I may keep it and do my own re-painting. This will rust away in one season if you put it outside.
Comments about Product: Coloring on frog not as colorful as shown in catalog, and not sure if it was the packaging or what, but some of the paint had been scratched off. Still liked the little fella, and did not want to go through the hassle to return for an exchange.
Comments about Product: I thought this recycled metal frog would look good with my rustic wood furniture. He is now sitting in my family room waiting the arrival of nicer weather to go outside.
I am so glad I purchased this frog, his personality is almost real. He just puts a smile on your face.
Comments about Product: Although this is a cute piece, it is slightly overpriced. Was upset to see after receiving it, it was on sale for 33 percent off:( all in all a cute item, he does make me smile.
Comments about Product: This was the best gift of all this Christmas: it always makes me smile when I see it.
It'll sit with us on the patio as we sip our coffee on warm summer mornings, then we'll bring it inside to commune with the other frogs in the house.
Comments about Product: Will be perfect in my garden in Maine nestled on one of the rocks. He'll always make us smile as he'll be seen from the deck and the kitchen windows. He's slanted to the back, so if you're planning on sitting him on a flat surface he has a tendency to fall forward, but other than that, he's wonderful!
Comments about Product: I have the frog sitting on a rock in my garden. It looks great. I was looking for an inside spot for the winter as I don't want it to rust but the bottom edges are sharp, So I'll have to be careful about where I set it. We really enjoy sharing a cup of coffee with it!
Comments about Product: This was a surprise Mother's Day gift intended for my mom's garden. I thought she would find the perfect spot for this little guy and I knew he would put a smile on anyone's face that saw him! Mission accomplished. I still haven't had a chance to see him, but I can't wait to see how he looks outside. I think this piece of art is absolutely brilliant. Thank you for including the artist in your magazine!
Comments about Product: This item was on back order for several months, and it finally came. We have our coffee together. The only con I have it looks a little battered, but I guess to be expected with metal. I ordered 2 and will keep one as a back up. It is whimsical and an interesting addition to my patio.
Comments about Product: I placed this frog in the crook of my birch tree in a berm. He faces a garden bench and is very social with his coffee cup as I sit there reading a book. Does he take one fly or two, in his coffee?
Comments about Product: The centerpice of my tin art collection. He's adorable and makes you smile. Solidly made but he's too cute to leave outside. He'll be hanging out on the screen porch with me, enjoying our morning coffee together.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
