Typically raised beds are made by nailing four 2 inch by 6 inch boards together to form a square. They are not meant to be dissassembled so can not be moved. Based on the results of the first year's planting you may want to move the bed to another location with more favorable lighting or drainage. Because the plastic raised bed kit is pinned together, it can easily be disassembled and moved to another location which gives the gardener more options. Additionally, it is green which is more attractive than unpainted wood. The plastic will never rot like wood. The 4 foot by 4 foot size makes weeding easier because you are never more than 2 feet away from a weed and it is easy to bend over 2 feet.

Not up to P&H standard
For herbs, lettuce, spinach great. For anything taller, out of the question. Needs better designed canopy.

These beds have allowed me to have a vegetable garden this year and they are amazing! My husband was alittle skeptical about them being sturdy enough, but they have dont great and I have no complaints!

Easy to put together, and feels and looks excellent. The balance of deeper and shallower beds will allow for a good variety of produce. Several gardening savy friends have commented on it, and asked where we got them.Also.. the size is very useful... 24 cubic feet is just about 1 yard of fresh dirt, so easy to order good soil for filling it.

Easy to assemble

We assembled the frame in about 20 minutes. The green resin/plastic frame looks good and holds up well to the weed trimmer when we mow. We are starting to harvest some lovely veggies now, and we look forward to using the frame for years to come.

This is my first raised bed. My plants are doing great. The only trouble I had was getting the corner stakes to go into the frame. I'm ordering another one of these today.

Quality is impressive for the price
from Eastern Shore Md.
I purchased two of the 4X4 model two seasons ago. They have held up well they do not bow from the pressure of the soil. I have neighbors with more expensive brands/models and they aren't in as good condition. I plan on purchasing at least two more for this season. Thanks Plow and Hearth! The only complaint I have is the stakes that hold the sides in place have little plastic caps that do not stay in place. It has no negative effect on the performance so far. I don't think you can go wrong with them. These are my first raised bed gardens and its really a great way to grow veggies.

Needed a flower bed above ground due to lead paint contamination. Product was easy to assemble and looks wonderful with lavendar and salvia. Great for difficult spots or patio and deck spaces.

I gave this as a house warming gift to a 1st time home owner and first time gardner. It looks great and was so simple to set up. She has 4 little boys and they each had a tool to use when planting which made a great education/play time. The only disappointment I have is that I could not buy it without the "row cover". Just don't need it and could have used the savings. Your ad does show one without but when I went to buy it I had to take the more expensive model.

the only thing I think could be done to make this product perfect is to lower the price.

Portability a plus!
By FMH, the secret gardener
from Daphne, AL
It is difficult to be a gardener in a Covenant-restricted development. We have used containers for last 10 years but really want to get back down at ground level. Since this is portable, we can use and move it as needed - or if caught! So when eventually cited for having a vegetable garden, we'll change it to a raised bed flower display with pine straw hiding the sides. Actually probably won't get caught unless the errant POA Board member golfer strays into our back yard hunting for his golf ball. Then we can show it is not a permanent fixture but portable!

My granddaughter's first garden
from South Dartmouth, MA
I ordered this raised bed for my daughter and new granddaughter to start gardening at their new house. All reports are that it was assembled, filled with soil and planted with seeds within the first weekof arrival. They are beginning to harvest their first plantings.
