Great Product!
Comments about Product:
We bought ours several years ago and they are great! We keep a pair at the front door and the back door! A friend stopped by and used them and ordered them as well! They fit over our shoes without a problem.

disappointeed
Comments about Product:
We really needed the product as the steel toed shoes by my husband and the guys wear make it hard and time consuming to take their shoes off and on. Unfortunately, they were too small for their very average size shoes and just as hard to put on as it would have been to remove their shoes. What a disappointment. They don't even use them now. The price was high especially since they aren't convienently sized to make use of.

Huge Disappointment!
Comments about Product:
I got these for my husband for Christmas. He wears workboots and I thought these would be perfect for those times he needs to quickly get something from the house. He has smaller-than-average feet, and these just barely fit over hit boots. They stay flat (nothing to hold them open), so it takes some time to actually get them on your feet. They also didn't stay on well; as he walked, they kept slipping off his boots. He wore them once, nearly tripped himself, and ended up getting dirty snow all over the floor anyway. What a waste of money! I love Plow & Hearth, but these were definitely a huge disappointment.

I really wanted these to work out for me. They are kind of hard to keep on my feet when walking.

Love these!!!
Comments about Product:
My guys love these! They easily slip on over my husband's bulky boots and my son's athletic shoes. I am happy to see that they are back in the catalog and am going to order some extra sets.

They should stand open
Comments about Product:
To be able to sip them on and off easily without bending down, a simple plastic or wire edge could hold them open.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
