Great Quality
Comments about Product:
easy to use - to put on and take off. fabric very flexible. I keep the umbrella covered when not in use. The umbrella must stay outside all year as I do not have a garage. This one looks like it will last, unlike others I have used.

Another outstanding cover by P&H!
Comments about Product:
Like the stackable chair covers, this umbrella cover is sturdy and durable. I'm a short person, so it was a bit difficult to get the cover on and off the umbrella since I would cover it to keep the umbrella from fading in the sun when it was closed up. But that was mostly because of the height of the umbrella itself while assembled in the stand. The cover is much longer than the umbrella top itself, it covers down to the table with a little bit of the top still flopping over. I have a regular garden style, 7 1/2 foot umbrella, but this is definitely tall enough to cover a larger umbrella, such as the 9 ft. market umbrellas. Like the chair cover, it may fade a little if it stays in the sun all winter, but that won't affect it's quality and no mold accumulation on the chair covers after a full winter's snow, ice, melting. These are, hands down, well made. They stand up to New England winters... what more would you want?

misleading dimensions
Comments about Product:
The magazine gave the diameter size, which should have fit my umbrella perfectly. However, the diameter was only for the bottom of the cover. It narrowed dramatically towards the top and therefore wouldn't fit my umbrella. It's not worth returning because of the shipping charges, so it turned out to be a waste of money.

Patio Umbrella
Comments about Product:
These covers look good but only last about 4 or 5 years. They aren't very UV resistant and start to fall apart after about 5 yrs. We live in Colorado.

nice design, too small
Comments about Product:
Umbrella looks great and seems heavy duty however it didn't come close to fitting our patio table umbrella. Not sure how this can be as we only have a 9' umbrella. So, returned it.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
