Comments about Plowhearth Oak Electric Wall Fireplace And Heater:

Bought this fireplace for an addition dining room that is mostly windows and glass doors. The room is connected to our open kitchen floor plan so the concept was to have this as additional heat source. Although it looks very nice, the actual heat we get from it is probably lost due to the open nature of the floor plan. If you are looking for ambiance or heating of a small area, I think it would be great.

Comments about Plowhearth Oak Electric Wall Fireplace And Heater:

This product does put out a nice source of heat for a spare bedroom. We wanted something that didn't have to be placed on the floor near pets and throw rugs. However, it has a very large black electrical cord that comes out from the side - the photo's don't show this cord. It looks pretty bad when installed with the 6 foot cord hanging out. So, we are keeping it - but will be buying paintable conduit to try to hide the hideous cord. It really isn't suitable to hang in a living room or area where looks matter. Also - it is large - it sticks out from the wall 4 or 5 inches. So if you have it hung where a side view matters, again, it looks bulky and unattractive with it's large black heater box. It pretty much is just a large black heater box hung on the wall with a frame around the face of it. The entire unit should have been framed to match the front if you want a nice looking unit. The flame is nice for an electric unit - it won't fool anyone into believing it is fire - but it does add nice effect.

Comments about Plowhearth Oak Electric Wall Fireplace And Heater:

I was looking for a "space saver" electric fireplace/heater, but nothing caught my eye until I saw this. I wasn't sure what to expect, but for the price it sounded too good to pass up.

It looks nice. Even though I don't think the "oak" is real oak. It mounted nicely, although you can see the cord. I will be putting an AC outlet up next to the fireplace so you don't see the cord. I didn't want to do that until we tested it out for a while. It has to bolted to the wall, not hung, which makes sense as far as safety goes. The bolt holes are on the top, so if it's not high off the ground you can see them, but I just used black bolts so they didn't stand out like a shinny metallic one.

My wife was a bit skeptical at first, but now she loves it. The flame looks pretty real, and it puts off a nice amount of heat when you need it. It has 3 selectable thermostat temperatures, which are selected by pressing the heater button on the remote. I like the fact that you can turn the flame up/down/off as well as the embers (coals). The flame setting must just be some type of motorized reflecting device, and is a bit noisy. However the embers are just lights. So if you don't want to hear the motor running just turn off the flames.

I read one review that complained of it turning on and off by itself, which I am assuming is because of where they have the thermostat set.
It is a bit tricky to figure out where you are at, but once you do it a couple times you can tell you are either at the low, medium or high setting. When it's heating, it's always max heat, so it will only shut the heater off when the room temp is above your selected thermostat level. The thermostat settings are 64, 75, and 86. Which are odd to me, but they are what they are. So when you first press the HEATER button, it may not do anything because your room temp is above 64 degrees. By pressing it a second time it will run until the room reaches 75 degrees. Press it a third time, it will run until the room gets to 86 degrees. Press it a fourth time and it will shut off the heater.

Bottom line is that it's a nice looking electric wall heater that does what it is supposed to do, and for a reasonable price. I guess I'll see how long it last, but for the money I think it's a great buy.

I love my firseplace and use it at night while laying in bed reading or watching TV.
My only worry is that it comes on by it's self..
I have to keep it unpluged when not in the room.
      Is this a defect?

Comments about Plowhearth Oak Electric Wall Fireplace And Heater:

Mom wanted a fireplace in her condo but didn't have a lot of room. This one fits the bill. It hangs on the wall so doesn't take up floor space. It doesn't require venting or wood or expensive gas piping. Just plug and play. Mom really likes it. It looks cheery and cozy, and it does give off heat. The wooden frame is classy and the fake flame part doesn't look too cheesy. The only drawback is that she can't tell when the heat option is on or off. We are thinking about getting one for our house too, maybe the bedroom, why not! No messy ashes to clean up later.
