A LITTLE POT IS GOOD
We put this on the garage window between our house and the garage where our patio is and it really looks nice and adds color.

I have been pleased with other products in the past....but not this time. The hardware that accompanied this product was problematic. The screws did not fit the holes, the placement of the wing nuts was not condusive to wood railings on a deck. Aafter several trips to the hardware store to "make due"...the window box did not hang properly.Should have been a better way to attach this to a deck railing. When I called to point out the wrong hardware - I was sent one replacment pkg when my original order was for 3.

About Me Getting Started
Comments about Plowhearth Montebello Self-Watering Planters:
The metal holder is beautiful. I was terribly disappointed in flimsy plastic flower box. I thought it would be terra cotta or something nicer for the price!Leans forward on the railing so we have to find a way to prop it up.

I mounted this planter on a wooden railing near my kitchen door and planted it with herbs and one lettuce seedling. I can now step out the door and cut a few chives or snips of parsley to add to food as I prepare it. Talk about fresh! The lettuce is less successful, perhaps too crowded. One lesson learned: Be sure all your plants have the same water/sun requirements.

Don't waste your money on this planter!

I always had to siphon water off after a heavy rain; plants eventually died when I didn't always get the water out in time; this summer I will drill holes in the side above the bottom level in order to drain off the excess water. Too much money for something that doesn't do what it is supposed to. There are better products out there.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

very disappointing planters
planter floods with heavy rain-need to scoop water from planter
Less than enthusiastic
from new jersey
This came with minimal instructions, and so I put the few pieces together as they seemed to fit. However, I've tried a variety of plants, and none has survived in the planter. It seems either to over flow with water when it rains (no drainage system, or should I have opened spaces? better instructions would have detailed this) or the plants have simply dried out. The latter suggests that the watering system isn't functioning well either. Not enthusiastic about spending double the amount a similar style traditional watering system would have cost, for worse results.

It was frustrating as one of the viles was broken that measures the water level and one set of porch railing brackets were missing. So we have had to improvise.

Planter has no drainage holes. Had to drill holes in bottom for drainage, ruined several plants because of to much water from rain and no drainage. replanted new flowers after drilling holes.
I would buy this product again

LOVE the planters; flowers look so nice and several neighbors have asked where I found them.

We bought two of these planters last year and loved them. However the inside design has changed and we are very disappointed with the new version. We ordered one for my mother and have had nothing but trouble with it. It is waterlogged every time it rains and we have to go over there and empty it for her. She is 84 years old and it is impossible for her to lift it.

Easy to install, but brackets aren't designed properly because the flower box tilts forward. We bought the same product (but older version) from this catalog about 12 years ago and it was great. The olde version lasted a long time and we were very pleased. The new design sits lower and the brackets don't stay flush to the railing -- they tilt down and don't look as nice (it doesn't look like the picture shown.
I plan to order third planter next year!

Very easy to install over deck railing, and attractive metal frame and container.

I have this planter at my front window as you approach my front door. I love the design. I only have to add water about once a week and my flowers look beautiful.
I will probably buy another one next spr
