Perfect for large CD collections!
Screws are too small to hold the cabinet doors tightly, so the doors tend to droop and come apart.

I bought one of these cabinets about 3 or 4 years ago and was impressed with the craftsmanship. I ordered another one about 6 months ago -- supposedly the exact same cabinet -- and it is of a much lower quality than my original. It looks nice, and holds a lot of DVD's and doesn't take up much space, but the hinges on the new model are flimsy and do not support the weight of the doors. The screws holding the hinges in are too small and flimsy. As soon as you fill the doors about half full with DVD's, the hinges can no longer support the weight of the doors and the doors begin to sag and scrape the base of the cabinet everytime you open and close the doors. The hinges start pulling out of the wood. I replaced several of the hinge screws with large wood screws just so the doors wouldn't fall off. I would replace all the hinges but frankly I think the wood would split if I tried. Very disappointed at how the manufacture as cut corners with their latest cabinet models.

Comments about Plowhearth Media Cabinet:
We purchased this cabinet several years ago, and it has held up beautifully to heavy use. All of the hinges still work as though they're brand new. It's in our family room and the kids haven't been able to scratch the finish with their toys. I am extremely pleased with this product. It is attractive, functional, and built to last!

Our drawers were overflowing with CD's, DVD's. The Media Cabinet has enough room to place all of them on the shelves and still leave room for more.

About Me Homeowner, Professional
As in many of the customer reviews that I read prior to my purchasing this media cabinet, the seller failed again to get the manufacture to use better wood!!!!!! My cabinet received a crack along the base when I stood it up and 1 door knob was split in half. However, the shape and attractiveness of this cabinet was/is very nice! I use it to store approx. 500 CDs.

By not impressed
The back of the cabinet had a hole punched in it, I ended up putting duct tape on it because I did not feel it was worth the hassle to send it back. Honestly, I felt like I got ripped off, the item was not worth what we paid for it and next time I will shop elsewhere and probably locally, I am not impressed by the Chinese quality of this product. Sorry, but this was not a good experience.

Beautiful doors sag quickly
About Me Midrange Shopper
It's very attractive and holds items as advertised. I use it to store video tapes. I would have purchased a second one to store DVDs but the door sagged after only a few months' use. And those doors were rarely opened, and never left standing open. If they fixed that sag problem, I'd definitely recommend it.

This is a very nice cabinet that we use for media but also for storing other small objects. It came pretty much all assembled and was packed extremely well. The one fault was that the left side door drags on the top of the base whenever the door is opened and is leaving a scratch path across the base-we decided to live with it and just try not to use that side as often.
Outstanding piece of furniture
from Coarsegold, CA
I ordered one for the house and was so impressed I ordered another for my studio. There is ample space for my hundreds of CD's. They stack up and the title edges are easily read to retrieve. I love the look of fine furniture. These pieces are well made from fine wood, and have a wonderful finish.
It is so so product
I was very disappointed with this product. After I received it, I Filled all the shelves with all my cd's & dvd's. From the weight of the items the screws that held the hinges in place started to pop out and the door finaly ended up falling off. I was very disappointed and finaly had to return the item. I had them send me a total of 3 replacements each of them had the same issue before I gave up and finaly asked for my money back.

Media Cabinet-did I get an old one?
from Green Bay, WI
In the catalog picture it shows different hinges than what came on mine. The hinges I have are long hinges along the whole side, but they can't hold the weight of the doors when it has the DVDs in it. The doors are sagging. My husband is going to replace the hinges, but that is a disappointment. I love the way it looks, and I love the storage aspect.
A good buy
from Gurnee, IL
I had a huge DVD/VHS tape collection that I kept moving from closet to closet until I got this cabinet. It held the entire collection, with plenty of room to add more. The mission style design goes very well with my other furniture.
Poor construction - returned
from Topsfield, MA
The quality of this product was very disappointing. The main issue was the use of particle board covered with wood veneer for the doors. When the doors of the unit were loaded with CD's and videos, the screws could not support the weight of the door. The screws were way too small and their grip on the particle board was pathetic. After unpacking and loading up the unit, I was stunned that the doors were binding due to the screw issues. I returned the unit and purchased a SOLID WOOD unit from other company. No issues with the second unit. Plow and Heath – you can do better.

I can't believe P&H is still selling this item. I would give zero stars if I could. I received one, took it out of the box, started loading CDs, and noticed that the hinges were breaking. I returned it. They sent me a new one. I opened the box very slowly, and this time the doors fell off before I even took the item out of the box. Very poor design and cheap material. The doors are not made to bear any weight, and the hinges are attached to such a thin piece of fake wood, they do not hold up. The only positive is that they refunded every penny, including shipping.
