OUTSTANDING!
Comments about Product:
I ordered all three cottages. They made up a beautiful fairy garden in an areas I didn't know what to do with. They are substantial in size and like another individual stated I would like them in even a larger size as well. I can't say enough nice things about these cottages. Worth every penny. Don't hesitate to buy.

These are perfect for my little girls..we made the most perfect fairy garden with them. I'm not sure how small the previous reviewer wanted them..but I would like them even bigger!! We use them outside and we really want everyone to be able to see them!! Awesome!!!

Disappointed
Comments about Product:
I ordered both the Gray Cottage and the Thatched Cottage and was indeed very disappointed when the arrived. The colors arevdifferent from the pictures --they are darker and drab --especially the Thatched Cottage. The flowers dont show up at all. And most importantly, they are huge --evidently made for some very large fairies! I am just so disappointed because I loved them in the pictures. Am considering returning them, but will cost me for postage to return and the shipping I've already paid. Too bad, but the risk you take when ordering sight unseen.

Comments about Product:
I can't wait to put my three new cottages in my fairy garden this spring. They will make a very nice addition to my current fairy garden. I have all of the Plow and Hearth fairy garden houses in my fairy garden. I have always been pleased with the quality. I even ordered three Taverns and repainted them and used them in the fairy garden as row houses. I painted the sign and put 1,2,3 on them. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. The personnel that I have talked to on the phone are very polite and helpful with any questions I have asked.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
