Comments about Product: I gave these (with stakes) to my parents, aunt & uncle and my sister. I also bought one for myself. The pre-planted bulbs grew quickly & bloomed beautifully. All recipients told me several times that they really enjoyed this gift. My parents' bloomed almost simultaneously and it was quite a show. Mine bloomed at different times, but they were still lovely.
Comments about Product: The bulbs survived, and the shoots are growing fast. The box iwas marked which side to keep up. Someone along the line did not read that. About a third of the soil was out of the pot and all loose in the box. The bulbs were almost bare. It would be better if there was some way to keep it all contained. Hopefully the three that I sent as gifts arrived all in one piece.
Comments about Product: The container and bulbs make an outstanding gift. This year's packages just arrived but was late delivering one last year and the hearty bulbs sent out blooms right through the box and gift bag, a little crooked due to growing at an angle but attests to the hardiness--blooming without light or water!
Comments about Product: With 75 other reviews in today mine no doubt will be lost. But ours were quite beautiful and bloomed quickly. Like a few others our white came up slightly higher than the reds and slightly behind them. But just wonderful blooms and the white is a full sized flower the reds were a bit smaller sized. With things of nature one does not expect exact performance as the picture shows but delighted us and is delighting us. We had to remove the mossy like material the pot came with and go to just soil because it attracted our 3 cats who refused to leave it alone. Even attempted to take a dome top we weighted down over it off. Once that was removed the cats could care less about the plants. Recommend but be realistic people flowers are nature and they have their own schedule no matter how much effort man kind puts into them or tries to control the out come. Go with the flow. Enjoy!!!
Comments about Product: These miniature amaryllis are not very small at all & grew beyond the capability of the container they came in to keep them upright, etc. further the two red ones though very beautiful, bloomed & spent their flowers before the white one even began to grow its stalks, Very beautiful though. Needs little care. Retains water, so I suggest giving the flowers & leaves a shower as opposed to watering the soil direct. Needs a sunny location.
Comments about Product: I ordered this in November as part of a Christmas shopping shipment. I wanted some garden color for my home besides the usual poinsettia. These flowers grew and bloomed very quickly, yet they also sent up flower stalks even after Christmas. I intend on ordering several more planters for the other months. They look beautiful in my family room window. The only con I would have is that they bloom so fast! I was hoping for most of the bloom right at Christmas but it turned out well as I did have some blooms for Christmas due to the reblooming. Six, very large flowers from the planter.
Comments about Product: Bulb was potted by me in a beautiful red pot that came with it. Placed in a sunny window , watered once/week and it really took off. I did not know that there were miniatures and much prefer them as you do not need to stake them and it seemed that the flowers lasted longer than the standard size versions.
Comments about Product: Gave two as gifts and one for myself. All three are doing well. Would like to know if I should cut off dead flowers, dead foliage, and can I plant the bulbs outside and when. I live in the Tampa Bay, FL area.
By Sorry I placed this gift giving order. FromIllinois
No common sense when filling orders
Comments about Product: I ordered 4 as gifts (direct ship to 4 people) along with the 3 "Plant support stakes" offered with the item at an additional $9.95. They shipped everyone the plant stakes separately, but first - with no mention on the paperwork that a plant was following etc (so everyone wondered why did I get these ???) and then about 5 days later the plant arrived.
Where is the thought process here? If they were going to ship items separately, then ship the plant to arrive FIRST!!!
Comments about Product: We are instructed to return products that are unsatisfactory but how do I return these blooming plants when two are nice and the third is dead? There should be an alternative (partial credit perhaps) to returning plants. It's not as if they would be shipped out to someone else.
Comments about Product: Since I ordered this for a gift for relatives about 900 miles away, I have not seen it. However, we have made this an annual gift for at least 5 years, each time with a different floral product. They always comment on how wonderful the plants are, how amazing the blooms/abundance/health, and they are most appreciative of this type of gift. A bit of color in the Maine winter gives hope for the spring! I anticipate the same rave reviews this year.
Thank you for continuing to offer these products with reasonable prices.
Comments about Product: Bought and sent four as gifts. All recipients enjoyed their amaryllis(es?), however one said her red flowers were more "orangey" than one would expect around Christmas. Another (in an assisted living home) was thrilled to receive "miniature" amaryllis(es) because her space is limited. She loved the flowers - they were beautiful - but like another reviewer noted - the center, white flower got huge - very tall - much higher than could be managed with the small stakes - and the red ones were also higher than pictured in the catalog. That's my only gripe. Size wasn't accurate and it mattered for one of my gift recipients. Recommended with reservations.
Comments about Product: I was ordering a 3-mo. bulb garden for my mother and decided on these for myself to fill out the order. Both products have been great. All three of my bulbs produced four flowers each with a long bloom time. If you need to fill a small space with some bright color, this arrangement can't be beat.
Comments about Product: the people who assume that the bulbs should all grow or that the colors should be as pictures. plants will do what they do, mutate or be a dud. can't blame a company because more people had good reviews, and the unlucky people think because they had a dud that p&h just have bad quality.

only two bulbs bloomed
Comments about Product: Since only two of the bulbs bloomed, I'm not sure I would purchase this product again. However, since my aunt still enjoyed the gift, I might sent her another amaryllis but order it from a different company.
Comments about Product: The two red amaryllis were exactly as expected. The center white bulb grew to over 30" tall with a one huge flower. While it was quite beautiful, it was completely out of proportion to the others and much too heavy for the pot, which I needed to support to keep it from tipping over. Not at all the attractive small display I was hoping for.
Comments about Product: for years I have sent amaryllis to friends as Christmas gifts. I usually keep some for myself. Of the 6 bulbs I kept for myself, I got 1 bloom. I am disapointed.Ordering was easy. the price was right. [...] The bulbs were duds. I wasted money.
Comments about Product: I ordered three of these planters, two as gifts and one for myself. Haven't heard about the bloom colors from my giftees, but mine had three bulbs of the red and white striped variety, rather than 2 solid red and one solid white as pictured and described. Pretty, but not what I'd ordered. But all three bulbs bloomed well over several weeks (a total of 21 blooms), and the copper planter is attractive and worth keeping. Without any provision for proper drainage, though, it's difficult to judge how much to water. Hence, the bulbs took longer to start growth, because I didn't given them enough water initially out of concern for possible bulb rot, and only one of the bulbs survived beyond the blooming period, since the planting medium was too wet during bloom, resulting in bulb rot.
Comments about Product: I have given these plants as gifts for the last 2 years. The beautiful blooms brighten the clowdy, gloomy days of late fall and early winter. Observing the quick blooming gives those who do not get out often something to look forward to when they awake.
Comments about Product: I placed the containers in a full sun window, watered and cared for them according to instructions and only 2 of the flowers bloomed in each container. The white tulips in either container never bloomed. On previous orders, that all grew fast and had long lasting blooms. This time I really was disappointed
Comments about Product: I bought the Amaryllis as gifts for Christmas. I found out that in some of the containers (3 bulbs in a each container)only one or two of the bulbs grew and bloomed. I really felt bad since they were gifts for my colleagues.
Comments about Product: I bought 2. One grew beautifully and made a great gift for my elderly aunt and uncle. The one I gave my Mom didn't do as well. One mini one bloomed with beautiful flowers and the one in the middle turned out to be a giant. The other mimi did not get any flowers at all.
Comments about Product: While all 3 plants grew and bloomed, these amaryllis plants were all at least 24" tall - not minis. I am exceedingly disappointed in this product and would not ever recommend it, or buy it again.
Comments about Product: Since I had sent three of these as gifts - no one wanted to be rude and tell me that none of them ever matured. The one that I personally saw two weeks after delivery had bulbs that were obviously rotten. I did NOT contact P&H and complain so I can't imply that they didn't fix the issue as I was too busy with the death in the family and simply couldn't deal with anymore issues!
Comments about Product: I sent several Amaryllis bulbs back east to give the folks some hope that spring will indeed come. In the meantime, while they waited from one storm into another, they have been delighted by seeing the daily growth of these gorgeous plants!I have taken some photos which I will turn into paintings or cards or both! The personal help with ordering was very courteous and helpful. I will be coming back to Plow & Hearth as a repeat customer! I just sent the jonquils bulbs to my friend back east for her birthday in February. She had five feet of snow on her roof at one point this winter. Now she's looking forward to watching these little beauties grow and bloom!
Comments about Product: I bought this as a gift for ourselves, I liked the look of the copper planter w/ the red & white blossoms. I've had amaryllis before, but never minis. These are almost as successful. I started them cool, w/ bright light,& little water. The middle is white, now a full beautiful blossom, 18 in. tall, with a 2nd bud at its base. On one side is a 20 in. red bud tightly closed, long & skinny flower. And the third one is still dormant, the growth is as shipped: about .25 inches tall, that's it! I rotated them religiously, and now I continue to care for it as when starting it up. The white blossom is truly beautiful, sorta makes up for its slow-poke pot siblings!
Comments about Product: I ordered this because it was "mini" and had bright red. So far, I have one white opening bud on a 26" shaft and another opening white bud on a 17 inch shaft. There are 3 smaller buds on about 3-6" shafts that haven't started opening yet.
What happened to "mini and red"? Last year, I ordered your Christmas tree with birds on it. When it came it had 4 birds and was shedding the needles. Will probably never order from Plow and Hearth again for plants/Christmas!!!
Comments about Product: This is the second year I've ordered these plants. they are very reasonable priced, come in an attractive container, bloom long and beautifully and they make fantastic gifts. A real winner
Comments about Product: Bought two...one for a gift and one for me. Thought it was great so I ordered another as a gift. Recipients are enjoying it immensely.
It will be a kitchen Christmas centerpiece.
Comments about Product: This plant had one dead bulb ,and 2 very inferior bulbs .One has bloomed and the other is just emerging.I love your store but this should have the money refunded,I might bring it back to the store ,very dissapointing
Comments about Product: I bought this to use as a Christmas display. It arrived in very good condition and I only had to give it water and light to get it going. It was so eager to bloom that it is starting to fade already. I should have waited a week or so longer to order it. I had assumed that it would take five weeks to be in bloom as other amaryllis I have grown did. Maybe it bloomed faster because they are miniatures? . All of the bulbs bloomed at the same time just as I hoped they would. The white is particularly pretty as it is a double, and the pot they are in is quite attractive. Both of the reds (a little on the orange side) have two stalks. The white has one, but did have a second stalk showing that did not come out. I like that it is not too tall. The plants themselves are about 18", overall just under 24"
Comments about Product: The plants are healthy and ready to bloom in only a few weeks. Very impressive! I love amaryllis and these miniatures will be a first in my collection of plants. In fact, I ordered some for a friend who also loves amaryllis - it is a Christmas surprise. (Mine were ordered just before Thanksgiving.)
