Comments about Product: I ordered this wall accent piece to go over our fireplace. It is perfect! The size, dimensions, and construction look like it was made specifically for our space. Gorgeous. We paired it with the small fireplace screen from Plow and Hearth and they complement each other well. A great investment .
Comments about Product: This was a PERFECT purchase. I wanted something that would go over our master bedroom bed and have birds and trees as a focal point. I received the item well-packaged and perfect. It was obviously hand-made and well made. It was super easy to install with two small mounting brackets that were attached. Would I recommend it... why of course... it was from Plow and Hearth, my new favorite online store!
Comments about Product: I felt compelled to write this review in response to the only other one because my experience is much more positive. There are two strategically placed and subtle brackets for hanging, and it was easy to hang and very secure once hung. The piece is a very nice weight...not too heavy like ironwork, but not flimsy either. I hung this above two windows in a cathedral ceiling TV room on a wall that is 10 1/2 feet both tall and wide). It looks great, is a nice break from the color I have elsewhere, and also echoes a few other black metal pieces in the room (lamp, quilt rack, etc). I couldn't be happier with this purchase, which also arrived in a timely manner and was appropriately packaged.
Comments about Product: This is gigantic and very heavy in person -- much larger than it appears in the photo, although the dimensions are as represented in the description. It would completely dominate my space, so I'm sending it back and ordering one of P&H's smaller metal wall sculptures. Also, I can't figure out how I would hang it, since there are no brackets.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
