Have not had the issues of other reviewers. My trays where you put the soil were so tight I could not get them out.... I had thought to brace them since other posters said they sink. I drilled holes for drainage, but opted not to prefill the reservoir. I've just been watering the planters like all my others - even less. They are doing great. Plants are thriving.

Shelf falls down, taking plants with
By Garden Gal

I purchased two of these taller planters to flank the front porch and two large square to flank the garage door. I placed and filled as directed (drilled side drainage hole, placed tray, used light potting mix, etc). Mine are black, and I had noticed that the ones getting more direct sun bulged a bit during the day (both this and the square), which was not great but I had already planted them and didn't feel like disrupting all of my plants and sending back. Well, I just came home the other day to find my plants in this tall planter had sunk and the sides were really bluging out. Like other reviewers have stated, the tray in the center slipped down, taking the soil and plants with them. I dug them back out, but the soil that is now in the water below is preventing the draining from working properly. My plants are now in a separate basket that I have setting on top of this planter, completely eliminating the selfwatering that I was looking for. I am GREATLY disappointed, especially since I have four of these purchased at regular price which certainly was not cheap!

Bought this planter as a gift for my Mother, and at first we were very pleased. Today I was visiting and saw that the plants were "sinking". As two others have stated, the soil tray collapsed into the water, and sides are a bit bowed out in the lower water resevoir portion. May also fill with packing peanuts and just water as usual. Not the quality product I expect from P&H.

Beautiful, but not functional
By Unhappy Consumer

The containers were placed on my front porch flanking the front door. They look great and match the style of my home. Was not happy to repot the plants several times in the one container. The shelf liner that was supposed to stay in the middle of the container dropped to the bottom and took the plants with it. I repotted a couple of times and the last time just filled the bottom with packing peanuts so that the liner could no longer drop. The peanuts are probably eliminating the self watering capability of the pot which was one of the reasons I purchased the container. The other works fine. Not happy with my purchase, but I made it work.

I bought 2 and filled with water as suggested. The bottom of planters bulged. One of the trays fell through into water and left a real mess of the front porch.

Good looking product.

Bought 2 tall planters to fill a bare corner in the yard. Made a platform so one is taller than the other. Will make a nice display for annuals and trailing vines or for slow-growning Alberta spruce shrubs. So far no complaints and they are made in the USA.

Great Product and Great Service
Love the planters. They look exactly as they are pictured. They seem to be of great quality. I have yet to plant in them since it's early, but I think they will work perfectly. Would highly recommend.
