I haven't actually used this P&H product yet, but I've purchased many of these exact same items in the last 13 years. Every teen age driver in the extended family has received at least one of these for their 16th birthday (or Christmas). Mine has lasted about 10 years so far. My son seems to break his clip within about 3 years so he's had several. None of the light bulbs has ever quit working. They are pricey, but they live up to their claims.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

An Essential on your Keychain!

Compact and easy to use for those dark steps and poorly lighted parking spaces. Strong enough for an emergency beam, if you're not too isolated. Perhaps a bit pricey, but I love it!
