Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

I like the light weight of the crock but after only a few weeks it started leaking. The plastic bags that they recommend take away from the looks of the crock.

Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

Crock looks great and has a charcoal filter in the lid so it doesn't smell as it gets filled up. We use the composting bags in it and I can see where others say the bag is hard to get out. However, it really isn't a problem. We tie off the top of the bag and them turn the pot upside down and are able to get it out just fine. This pot fit our needs perfectly. Its functional, looks great, fits under the sink when we want to put it out of the way and holds about a weeks worth of compost scraps for a family of 4!

Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

My husband & I purchased this item as our 7th anniversary gift (copper) to ourselves. We needed a compost pail for our kitchen counter that looked nice. Not only does it looks great but works very well, too. I understand what others have said about the liners being difficult to remove BUT there is a simple solution . . . don't use the liners; they are not neccesary. Just carry the pail to your compost bin and rinse it out after emptying it. Also we empty our pail at least once a day; there is no need for the filter either.

Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

The biggest issue I have is that when it's ready to be emptied into the outdoor compost, you can't get it out of the container because the mouth is smaller than the bag when it's full. So then, you have to take the bag out when it's still pretty empty, and that's a waste that we should be trying to avoid.

Based on description, I expected crock to be actual copper, not copper colored. The shape, although pretty makes it difficult to remove bags if they are too full.

Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

It was larger than expected, but that's never bad. I would have preferred that the joints holding the bottom of the jar to the sides be better welded. Sometimes it can snag a rag or paper towel when wiping off. Was happy to find an attractive jar that really blends in with the kitchen.

Comments about Plowhearth Copper-Plated Compost Crocks:

I keep this near my sink and add kitchen waste throughout the day, before carrying it all to my bin outside. I love the look of this item, and am especially pleased that I no longer have to worry about breakage when I handle the lid with wet hands, as I did with my ceramic jar. Another plus is that this container will not crack as moisture accumulates, as my previous jar did. On the downside, I have not been able to find replacement filters locally.
