    Attractive for kitchen counter

    Cons

    • Not Compost Functional

    Best Uses

    • Just Food Scrap Container

I received as a family gift, but the composting bags are useless. We just use regular 1 gal.size twist tie plastic bags with a rubber band around the bag on outside lip of crock and use it strictly as a food scrap container. We do not compost. We cannot pack too much food scraps before removing bag or their is a problem getting the full bag out past the smaller lip of the crock (design flaw). Crock is on the pricy side

Pretty enough you don't have to hide it.

    Pros

    • Great looking

    Cons

    • Size At Times

    Best Uses

This looks far better in the kitchen than a platic bin and works great. No odors at all to date. We don't always get everything dumped out into our large bin because of an internal lip and we worry a little about long-term smells since the inside is rough unfinished pottery, so occasionally things stick. Washes out very easily and weight is substantial enough to leave it on the counter without worry about is sliding off. The size is limiting if you cook a lot (i.e. those holiday meals) but only then.

Good idea, not so great function

      By Recycler and mom

      from Richmond, VA

      Pros

      • Attractive

      Cons

      • Narrow opening
      • Non-glazed interior

      Best Uses

I received this as a gift for Christmas. I wanted to love it as daily I accumulate scraps to take out to the compost bin. After a few uses though, I find it is more a hassle to use this crock than to just take my scraps out when I generate them. The narrow opening of the crock makes it difficult to remove the composting bags. If you fill the bag up, you can't get it out of the crock without it tearing. And using it without the bags makes the inside get disgusting because it is not glazed inside. The design is attractive, but this product is just not useful enough to justify the counter space it takes up.

        I like this container but...

        Pros

        • Easy to use
        • Very convenient

        Cons

        • Not a good design

        Best Uses

The lip on the container causes the bags to tear when removing them unless you don't put much in the bags. The container would work much better if it didn't have the lip.
This is a great concept, I would just choose another design the next time.
