I bought my double iron 4 years ago and over time, it has gotten better with age. I normally just brush a bit of EVOO on the bread slices, add the filling and wait for the juicy goodness to erupt when I open the iron. This tool will last forever. It is currently "on loan" and I may just have to buy another if I hope to ever get it back. I have owned an aluminum pie iron in the past and was never as pleased as I was with this one.

I purchased the pie iron to replace an aluminum one that melted in our campfire. We have not had the chance to use it, but the quaility is much superior to the old one. My husband was impressed. Our grandchildren will be very pleased with a double iron! They are hungry waiting for mountain pies to eat.

We had fun using premade piecrust and fresh apples and found MANY other ideas on the internet for the pie iron. May have to get another one for next winter!

I bought the double one for my brother in law for CChristmas. He got the single one a couple years ago and they use it all the time. Now the family can make more than one at a time and eat together.

I've had this pie iron for several years and it is a staple on camping trips. I got one as a gift for my sister, who has had some experience with flimsy aluminum ones, and she says they can't hold a candle to this one. I'm thinking about getting some more as gifts for friends who raved about it on our last camping trip.

We use our pie irons camping, and also in the winters by the fire. The kids enjoy making their own toasted cheese sandwiches and toasted peanut butter and jelly. We have friends who have six kids, and they always take their pie irons camping as well. That way mom can take a little break from cooking.
