I always have trouble with fruit flies in the summer. Since I put this apple out with cider vinegar and a little soap I no longer have fruit flies. I use to keep a small dish on my counter with vinegar and dish soap and it worked but it evaporated pretty fast and was easy to spill. The apple seems to have solved both those issues for me plus it is just too pretty for words.

This is such an attractive, pretty piece that it can be used anywhere in your house. I haven't had to use the bait yet because it's winter and we don't have a fruit fly problem during this season but it looks so nice that I set it out in my kitchen anyway. It's compact and easily moves to any room you might have a problem in. I can't wait for those little pesks this summer...they are in for a deceptive surprise!

Ordered two of same color....huge differences in color when they arrived. One arrived with a large crack ( other than the cracks intended). I will keep it...too much hassle to return.

Cat broke it the second day I had it.

        Best Uses

        • Put up HIGH

I put the apple in the window nearest my table where the bugs seemed to gather. The feet broke off when the cat played with it but the apple itself just shed "layers" of glass so it seems fairly hardy if not dropped on a tile floor!

        Cons

          Best Uses

          • Fruit Fly Lure

I like the crackled glass. Very nice looking. Doesn't look like a bug trap. Since I have it sitting out on the counter - that's a good thing.

I haven't seen any fruit flies around yet, so can't say if it works (too early in the season). I'm sure it does.

The unit itself is very nice and not badly priced especially when on sale, but seems a bit expense after you purchase the lure part.

I only ordered the red apple.
