I bought this to hold kindle in our master bedroom. We were using a cardboard box. It was a little smaller than I had expected, but holds plenty of kindle. I LOVE the flatwood that came with it and am planning on keeping it stocked. This really classed up our fireplace and is very functional. Highly recommend it. I'm thinking about getting the matching larger bin for the wood. Really nice looking.
