Comments about Product:
I really like this very large butterfly! It appears to be well made, I did spray it with exterior polyurethane to keep the finish nice, so I hope this will add to the life of the product. Great purchase!!

Comments about Product:
These are beautiful art décor. I love to birdwatch and when they perch on these (I have 5), I can easily see them above the azaleas and flowers. They don't fall over like some of the ornaments that I have purchased elsewhere. This was my second time buying and with them on sale, wow what a deal!

Nice but not sturdy
Comments about Product:
I put it outside and it looks good. One of the prongs that keep it into the ground broke right off when I pushed it into the ground. It still stays up with one prong.

going to place near bird bath for birds to use as a resting place to sun themselves. Also going to spray paint the butterfly to add more color in yard.

Butterfly Stake
Comments about Product:
This was damaged in shipment (one of the threaded male ends had been crushed and could not be threaded into the female end of the center section). I was able to repair it, so I did not need to send it back. It is made in China and not packaged particularly well, so this could happen again.

Pleasant look behind short bush against a blank wall of house. Dresses up the area without looking heavy.

I bought this butterfly stake for my tall 7 foot indoor rubber plant. It looks absolutely fantastic and makes my plant look even more beautiful than before.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
