Comments about Product: This turtle is great. Was so cute when it had a little ding on it I didn't send it back because I didn't want to wait to get another. My neighbors keep threatening to take it. Really cute
Comments about Product: I love it but was disappointed that there was a defect in the back of the top shell. The seam is not soldered. It was too much for me to return and decided to keep it but i want you to know about the issue. That being said, I do love it and it looks great on my new enclosed deck.
Comments about Product: the paint is pealing off and it is rusting in spots, thought this was in or outside furniture not it was not paint started pealing right away
and we have had very good weather. very disapointed for the price.
Comments about Product: The turtle we originally ordered was damaged in shipping. I called Plow and Hearth and a new one was immediately sent to us. The turtle is lovely but I would not call it a bench. I don't think it is sturdy enough for anyone but a very small child to sit on as the edges of the shell can easily be dented or bent. Ours looks gorgeous as an accent piece in the yard and it can easily be moved into the pool area if we need another side table to place drinks on. I took the advice of some other reviewers and sprayed it with a clear coat protectant before putting it outside. It has been outside a month now and looks like new. We have gotten many compliments; it is truly an eye catching whimsical piece. We love it.
Comments about Product: Purchased the umbrella holder version of this product. The turtle is perfect looking however, all of this line which are made of iron with a copper finish need to be sprayed with a waterproof top coat before being placed outside. The turtle rusted all over but Plow and Hearth quickly refunded my money. I love this line so much I've ordered additional animals but will definitly follow my own advise before putting them outside! Enjoy them!
Comments about Product: I put this on my back deck and I love it. I get many comments on how different it is. In my view it could be a little bit taller - maybe a couple of inches. Other than that I LOVE it
Comments about Product: I use this whimsical turtle as gardent art as well as a place to put objects I use for the outside. He sits next to my grill and attractively holds my beverage of choice as I grill.
By Likes a pretty yard with unusual things. FromOklahoma
Not exactly what I had in mind
Comments about Product: The turtle bench looks good. It is not as tall as I had imagined. The edges of the turtle shell have already been bent by my grandchildren while getting on and off. Attractive addition to my patio.
Comments about Product: The color is very beautiful-- like burnished, weathered copper. Not too shiny, not too dull. He is still living in the house, as we hate to put him out in the Northwest weather. A covered area would be best for such a nice "stool."
It arrived undamaged, but just barely. The huge box was starting to fall apart, and his tail was sticking out. We lucked out there.
Comments about Product: After two years this turtle is nothing but a piece of rusted metal, We have cleaned and waxed this product from day one to protect and it has still rusted. Product came with no warning and no care instructions. Called last year to customer service and was told there were no complaints. DO NOT BUY if the intent is to use outside in the elements. Would give this product no Stars buts system would not let me
Comments about Product: As I like a variety of garden sculptures around our home,I placed this turtle under an evergreen tree (lower branches removed) in our extensive landscaping (approx. 6000 sq.ft.; no grass, as we live in the middle of ten acres of woods). The bronze color is another hue to add along with our concrete figures and rust colored garden sculptures.
Because we have an average of 56" of snow (last year brought 86+" of snow) in the winter, decided I would put it in the garage until spring.
Comments about Product: Have our buddy in front of the waterfall in our front yard. Very cute. We sealed him before putting him out on the advice of other customers notes. So far so good, he is in the sun and water everyday.
Comments about Product: I fell in love with this turtle in your catelog. It is perfect on my porch. Since it was going to be out in the elements I sprayed it with a clear protective seal just in case. I also bought the bear which is kept inside. A perfect addition to my decor!
Comments about Product: The turtle was to go on the deck. However after a month or so rain water got under the turtle's body. Whatever is inside the turtle rusts. I had rusty water stains on my deck. I didn't want to return it because it is really a cute addition to my back yard. He now sits in a mulched area on the side of a paver patio that sits around the deck.
Comments about Product: He looks great on my patio, however, he fills with rain water down the back of his neck. We may have to drill a hole in his underbelly to let the water out. When we turn him on his nose to let the water drain, it is rusty. Otherwise, he is perfect!
Comments about Product: I sent this to my sister for her 50th wedding celebration. I live in Arkansas and when I moved here she took over caring for my two turtles who I had for 30 years and she loves them. They are the hit of the neighborhood so this piece was perfect. She put it outside for the celebration as we had a hawaiian theme but plans to put it in her livingroom from now on as she says it is too beautiful to be outside and she wants to look at it every day.
Comments about Product: Everyone compliments my turtle. I have it outside my back slider door on a covered bluestone terrace. Kids sit on it. I use it to place my morning coffee mug on it when I actually do relax. it's really cute and strong too. Not heavy so it's easy to move around. I'm very pleased w it. Worth the money too.
Comments about Product: It's not often that I spluge on frivolous items, however, I am so glad I bought this turtle. He puts a smile on your face, and is the perfect little table on our dock. I just love him...sometimes we all need to treat ourselves.
Comments about Product: I have it in my patio. I didn't put it in the sun due to the reviews, but all my friends are threatening to steal it. My husband thinks he can coat it so protect it from the elements. I just love it!!!!
Comments about Product: I love the turtle. It has it's own personality. I use it as a foot rest/end table poolside. Due to a knick on the turtle, during shipping, I have to protect it from the rain so that it doesn't rust. My turtle is a great conversation piece and children want to ride it.
Comments about Product: [...]We intended to use him on our patio as a table/footrest, but he ended up in our front garden/porch area. Everyone who visits asks about the turtle, pets it, and wants to know where we got it. It is the kids favorite thing to sit on and they all wave good-bye to it as they leave. We love our turtle -- he has become our favorite garden accent!
Comments about Product: I love my turtle. He has a place of honor right next to my front door. It is just a wonderful piece of whimsy. He brings a smile to my face every time I walk up to my front door.
Comments about Product: The turtle bench sits on the front porch beside the entry door to our guest house. We encourage visitors to slow down, disconnect, and enjoy life. The turtle establishes the tone for weekend life; a respite from the relentless workweek.
Comments about Product: I was so looking forward to adding this piece to my garden. He is so good looking and gets lots of attention but after 2 months, almost all of the paint is gone off of his back. Returning it for a refund - not worth the $$.
Comments about Product: We purchased the turtle for our home in Palm Springs, and it adds a delightful touch of whimsy to our yard. We expect that it will hold up to high winds as it sits low to the ground.
Comments about Product: great for added seating and added interest to the yard/horse pasture. Strong enough to sit on as well as using to train horse to use as a pedastal.
Just got them (ordered 2) and not sure how they will weather and wonder if I should spray them with a clear lacquer to protect finish and color.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
