Comments about Product: I added this to my seasonal wreath and made a more attractive decoration for my front door. Can and will leave up all winter. Different look noticed by others as I have received several compliments. I saw this advertised many times and made this my present to myself this year!
Comments about Product: I love the ice skate door decoration. I was very disappointed when it arrived broken. It was just placed between two pieces of bubblewrap without any protection around the blade. The blade is broken in 2 places. I don't have time to rturn and have redelivery before Christmas. I will try and glue it myself but I am very disappointed.
Comments about Product: I've been wanting this decorative skate for a while now and decided this year I was going to get it. Was very glad I did. Thought it would be heavier than it was but actually it worked out perfectly for where I wanted to hang it. I love it.
Comments about Product: I have the ice skate decoration on my front door for Christmas but plan to keep it up all winter. I did put felt pads on the back of the skate so it would not rub when the door opened and closed. It looks great on the black door.
Comments about Product: This decoration is very nice. I hung it on the wall in my dinning room. It's heavy so the hook has to be be able to hold the weight. It looks beautiful and very charming. Not dissapointed at all.
Comments about Product: I love the way this looks., I ordered it for our daughter-in-law, but, she is very skilled in crafts, and, I'm afraid this wouldn't measure up for her., however, I will still use it as a gift, it would have been nice if they had used a real ice skate, instead of a prefab deal, I did add some red berry picks, as other reviewers had suggested, also, a more substantial bow in a better color would have added a lot.
however, it was a very good buy, so, one can afford to massage it a bit.
Comments about Product: I have received the best customer service from Plow & Hearth. It is as if I am talking to someone from my small town! I have ordered several items & I have been very happy with everything I have ordered! Thank you very much!
Comments about Product: I ordered this gift for my sister that used to ice skate in her youth. The skate came out of the box with scuff marks that I had clean off with an eraser and then scratch marks on the black section that I had to take a magic marker to. Then I covered it all in clear glitter to hide the "fixing" of the gift. A couple of the berries were also broken so I had to fix that as well. The concept was very cute, but the quality was lacking.
Comments about Product: I wanted to give this as a winter door decoration however I was disappointed when I took it out of the box. The bow was very small and looked like an afterthought. The snow glitter on the skate was poorly done. The shoelaces were painted gold and looked cheap. There were three baby pinecones tucked behind the bow and the berries were stuck together in one bunch, It was not as full as the picture showed and I was very disappointed because the total of the product and the tax and shipping came to almost $50.
Comments about Product: This was a surprise gift and I was delighted to see how similar to a real skating boot it was! Luckily it does not have the weight of a real boot and hangs nicely. Being a skater it was the perfect gift and represents the season beautifully.
Comments about Product: I ordered this skate for a friend as a gift, and when it came, I loved it! I liked it so much that I ordered a second one for myself! It is on my red front door and is just right for the holidays as well as the rest of the winter.
Comments about Product: I loved the look of this on-line. I was expecting an actual skate but the material is more like a plaster of paris-type consistency. This is cute but could be so much cuter. It's a bit plain...the laces are string with this plaster of paris material covering it. I've seen some of these on [@] and find them to be a bit more decorative...plaid shoelaces, red-fur trim around the top. I'm happy with the one purchase but wouldn't buy more.
Comments about Product: We have a green front door; most holiday season decorations are green also, blend in and get lost in the background. The white ice skate stands out and the greenery with snow sprayed on it looks very nice, as does the plaid ribbon. I added a strand of red berries, which helps show off the decoration even more. A photo of the green door with the ice skate will be our holiday card next year. Love the decoration! I only hope Plow & Hearth can find more of these lovely ice skates as I would like to give one or two as gifts.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
