Comments about Product: I bought this bench for my daughter who is into butterflies. We put it together in about 20 minutes. It was easy and everything you need is included even the wrench to tighten the bolts.
Comments about Product: This butterfly bench is a summery, lovely complement to any yard, deck, patio, sun porch or indoor sun room. It's very sturdy and well-made yet light enough to move easily, easy to assemble and surprisingly comfortable, even without a seat cushion. It provides extra seating for two and would also make a very pretty plant stand.
Comments about Product: I finally had to move this bench to my covered porch. The rust kept bleeding through. Come spring I will sand it down and repaint... but that is something that I should not have had to do with an item that cost this must. It has nice design and really looked good out in the yard until you got close to it. All the parts were included in mine except for one screw and I had one of those.
Comments about Product: This is so whimsical and pretty I really wanted it to work. Unfortunately, I replaced the first delivery as it was obviously a return from someone else. The instructions were missing, the parts bag had been cut open and only contained the wrench and one screw. Very dented. Customer service was great in promptly sending a replacement, but the replacement was in terrible condition. Am awaiting a UPS pick up and will not try again.
Comments about Product: When I first saw this bench I wanted it, but after reading reviews I had second thoughts. I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and I ordered it and I am so pleased. I have a rectangled all glass dining table with four ghost chairs and on the long side in front of a mirrored wall I placed my butterfly bench at my table! Stunning!!! Everyone says I'm quirky, thanks to Plow and Hearth it's confirmed! ShopnSheba:)))))
Comments about Product: Having read some of the negative reviews, I was totally unprepared for the sturdiness of this bench. I have ordered other outdoor metal pieces and have seen the quality--or lack thereof--in many of them. Not so this bench. It is sturdy enough and large enough to seat two, possibly three people. The beautiful design makes quite a statement in the garden. My purchase was inspired by another butterfly bench I had found for sale...with a $1200.00 price tag!! This one makes me just as happy for a lot less money!!
Comments about Product: Love this product. It sits in my butterfly garden in the front corner of my house. I live on the corner and it can be seen one block as you enter the Development. Neighbors adore it and I love it. It is perfect for my garden. Just what I was looking for. It is a bit light weight, but sturdy.
Comments about Product: I purchased this to fill in an area where small trees used to be. I wanted some interest and this bench with a pillow or cushion is just the touch. I may paint is next year to add drama when I place it in the yard.
Comments about Product: This would have been real nice if it did not have the rusty screws. Some of them had already bled onto the white parts of the bench. I was able to clean the rust off of the white but expect after a shower or rain it will appear again.
Comments about Product: front patio with a butterfly table. really pretty. I put a cushion on mine. Packaging needs improvement. Box torn and several holes in it. Product ok. Delivered to front door sooner than expected.
Comments about Product: It is really so darling. Very easy to put together.
Plow & Hearth seems to be a really good & caring company. I would have given it 5 stars because I really like it. However, it does have rust spots on it and I feel I must spray it with Rustoleum before putting it out.
Comments about Product: We recently returned from a cruise. Our first stop was Key West, where we visited Butterfly Conservatory. Loved their Butterfly bench, but cost about $500.00. I ordered this Butterfly bench and LOVE it. Well made, and easy to put together. It is just too cute. Will seat two people. Worth every penny.
Comments about Product: This is a patio bench. It will be outside all the time...that is why I repainting it so it will take rain falling on it. I purchased a seat cushion that I will store when not in use.
Comments about Product: Proudly sits in my front yard, front & center underneath my Japanese cherry blossom tree; all eyes are immediately drawn to it not only for its dazzling bright heavenly white color but also the french type design! Not to mention the daffodils, roses, and tulips that surround it, as well as my black wrought iron fence with three muses fountain in the background. :)
Comments about Product: Ordered the Butterfly Bench for my mom for Christmas, we knew it was not going to be shipped until March, but that was ok, we printed a picture of it for her. The Butterfly Bench has already arrived and it is beautiful. I thought it would sit at least 2, but it will sit 3, even better. It is very sterdy and will last many, many years for my mom to enjoy. Thank you Plow & Hearth for such a great product and a great price.
Comments about Product: What a disappointment! I have a rainbow garden. For several years, I have been searching for the perfect bench for the garden. Then I found it - the butterfly bench was perfect. When the package arrived, I was so excited. Then, I wondered why the package was so light. I took the package out to the rainbow garden, so I could assemble it close to its spot. When I unwrapped the parts, screws started flying all over the place. The screws needed for the assembly weren't even packaged. The assembly directions were not worth the paper they were printed on. Perserverance got the puzzle put together. It is very flemsey. I dared to sit on it, but very gingerly. There are rust spots. If it weren't so perfect for the spot, it would certainly be returned, but returning is more trouble. I will enjoy it as long as it lasts. But the poor quality makes me resistant to ordering from Plow & Hearth again. Too bad, because my next big project is a garden room and there are so many wonderful looking items for my plan, but I dare not take a chance on poor quality.
Comments about Product: It looks beautiful..but the metal is very fragile. I am afraid it will rust easily. My other concern is the frame, I don't think it can withstand too much weight. Careful when you sit! I like it and I am glad I bought it even if it last only one season :)

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
