Comments about Product: The glider itself is attractive and of good quality, but the assembly instructions are lacking. Specifically, I ended up with 8 washers that probably have gone somewhere, and one extra bolt, but the instructions had no breakouts to say exactly where they went. When I called Plow & Hearth, no one could offer any help whatsoever. They said I would be contacted by a customer care representative over this, but no one ever called (does that mean they don't care??). A website with some explanatory notes would have done the trick.
Beautiful and functional
Comments about Product: Really nice addition to our front porch. We have been looking for a reasonably-priced, good-quality glider for some time, and this one fits the bill.
The diagram-style directions are fine so long as you have assembled kit furniture before; take some time to ensure you are installing pieces correctly before tightening everything up. We did replace 2 screws that were not grabbing well enough, but that was a simple fix.
Comments about Product: Bought this glider for my front porch. Really great purchase. Glides easily and it looks good. My only comment would be that the assembly directions could be beefed up abit. Took some deciphering to figure out the illustrations. But once complete,(2 people required), really love it!

Needs sanding and a coat of varnish
Comments about Product: I was disappointed with the finish on the woo. although it was stained it looked unfinished and had splinters coming off. On the plus side, it looks really nice and is very comfortable to sit in.
We love it!
Comments about Product: I am so happy with this bench! It looks great on our front porch with the side table we ordered too. The wood is very nice looking and it seems like a very sturdy bench. My only trouble was figuring out how some of the screws fit in with a different type of nut. My husband figured that part out eventually and it was a pretty quick build after that.

Nice bench but...
Comments about Product: Instructions are horrible. Poor graphics and no wording, just poor quality diagrams. Once built it is nice but do not over tighten glide bolts or it won't glide smoothly.
pros and cons
Comments about Product: I was so excited when this went on sale so I could by it to go with the eucalyptus chaise I bought which is very comfortable. The glider looks attractive. I can't comment on durability, how strong the construction is, or how easy it is to clean yet as I just set it up which took a friend and myself almost 3 hours. The directions are not spelled out clearly, and there are cylindrical fittings that go into a hole and need to be lined up with a screw. You can not see where the hole is to line up the screw and this made it very difficult. There were also some screws left over that we have no idea where they belong. Other reviews said it was easy to assemble, but I would have to disagree. Nevertheless, it looks very attractive. If it is like the chaise, the screws will loosen up with use and can be easily tightened periodically. Seats two people comfortably. The glide is a little stiff, so the tightness of the glide bars probably just need to be adjusted to get it right, but I am waiting first to see if it loosens up a bit with use. So far it appears to be a good value for the price, and dealing with the staff at Plow and Hearth has always been a pleasant and accommodating experience.
Not Quite as Durable as Described
Comments about Product: Based on other mostly positive product reviews, I was pretty confident that this glider would be a great addition to our front porch. Boy, was I disappointed! The product arrived in packaging that was heavily damaged, but the glider pieces were intact, other than a large gouge in one of the arms. However, some of the screws provided were not long enough to assemble it properly. We had to purchase new screws that were long enough to hold the gliding sections together. The first time my husband sat on the glider, one of the seat slats broke, and he is NOT a heavy person. We had to replace the slat with a heavier-duty wood (oak). We were able to cover the mismatched wood with a bench cushion, so it isn't noticeable. The gliding mechanism is not smooth, and the back slats of the glider are very uncomfortable--throw pillows are a necessity! The glider is on our covered front porch and looks good from a distance, but it falls short on quality, durability and functionality. If return shipping costs were less and we could have used the original packaging to return it, it would have gone back.
Great little glider for conversation are
Comments about Product: Once the proper placement of the metal connector was determined, the gliders (I bought two) were easy to assemble. Smooth gliding motion.

Just what I was looking for
Comments about Product: Makes a perfect corner set for enjoying our screened porch alone or with company. We combined it with a loveseat & table for morning coffee or evening wine!
Comments about Product: Use it on covered front porch. WIth pillows, very comfortable and stylish.
Great looking...Easy to put together
Comments about Product: Everything I wanted it to be...Love it
Comments about Product: Product was easily assembled and looks great. The only drawback to me is the choppy glider action, it does not operate smoothly and I believe that this is a design issue.
Very well made, love it
Comments about Product: I bought this to replace a very beaten up and weathered bench (which wasn't painted to be outdoors) I had for 7 years. I put it together by myself in less than an hour (50 yr old female) and it's beautiful. I have it on our front porch and it definitely improves the whole appearance. I bought a cushion and 1 pillow too. I plan on painting clear varnish on it to keep the color. The instructions said I could use tung or teak oil too.
The only minor gotchas I'd say on the instructions in that it's not 100% clear which way to install the black metal swing arms. I figured out I had them backwards when they wouldn't swung over the railing. They are curved so that when installed on the bottom swing portion, they clear the frame. This is obvious but the drawing for that part of the assembly is so small so it wasn't immediately obvious until I bolted two of them on.

Schoolhouse Creek Inn at home.
Comments about Product: We had a glider on the deck at our rented cottage at Schoolhouse Creek Inn near Mendocino, My spouse loved sitting on the glider, so when we renovated our decks last year it was time to replace the old furniture on the front deck with a new glider and side tables. They are perfect for the space.

Comments about Product: The side table assembled very easily though I was a bit disappointed that the wood was not the same color as the chairs, even though it was purchased from the same line of eucalyptus furniture.

Comments about Product: Purchased this pillow with the chair cushion to use in my bedroom. The fabric is of exceptional quality. There were so many colors to choose from, I had a hard time deciding.
Comments about Product: Bought to go with my garden swing pad (purchased from Plow & Hearth) and it makes the time relaxing on the now padded swing even more comfortable.
Nice plump pillow
Comments about Product: I've been eying these pillows for awhile and when they came on sale, I snagged a few. I was impressed how plump they are and how durable and bright the fabric is, especially compared to my "cheaper" brand. I think they will withstand the Florida sun and salt air perfectly for a long time. I would highly recommend these pillows.
Using these pillows & Cushions for an Indoor Window Seat
Comments about Product: These cushions and pillows are perfect for our window seat area in our family room. The fabric is sturdy and easy to clean if spills should occur. They are well made and I love that they were made in the USA! I try to look for that as much as possible while making a purchase.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
