I love my dragon!
This is a heavy, well-made cast iron dragon. The workmanship is very high quality and yes, it does steam through his snout!

Enjoyed the dragon and steam feature. I burn the woodstove daily in the winter months and the dragon only lasted 2 seasons. I recently had to throw it away because it looked awful and didn't look like a fairly new piece anymore. The inside was coroded, rusted and stained as well as the rim of the dragon and bottom piece. Shame that for the price, it didn't last very long in my opinion. Going to back to something very basic and less expensive.

Comments about Plowhearth Dragon Woodstove Steamer:
This was gift for my husband, who is a dragon fanatic. Our steam kettle that we had sprung a leak. So when I saw this product, it was the perfect birthday gift and something we both needed. The only con is I found small chip on the enamel, but it is in a spot that is not noticeable. And yes, the steam really does rise out of the dragon's nostrils. If your looking for something whimisical with moderate functionality than this is your product.

use it on top of my vermont castings wood stove and it looks great. It takes a fairly hot fire @ 400 deg. F to get it to steam, but it looks good and we enjoy it.
A must have for a wood burning stove!

The dragon was much bigger than anticipated - which is good! We need moisture in the air from burning wood and had been using a kitchen pot. We love watching the smoke roll out of the dragon. This is a fun and practical product for us. To add aroma we use cinnamon sticks. We debated between the dragon or the train and are very happy with our choice.

We purchased this product to add moisture inside our home. We heat mainly by wood, the air inside becomes very dry . This product has helped.

For the price its a good bargin. The only draw back is it doesn't hold a lot of water so you haveto fill it at least twice a day if you heat with wood. My stove gets to almost 700 degrees so the dragon really steams. I love it!
Our own dragon!
Just like it was pictured! Packed smart so it didn't get damaged in transit.

We love this steamer! Good conversation piece and really looks cool when the steam comes out his nostrils. The only drawback I see is he doesn't hold alot of water. This is not a problem for us as our stove is small and we don't burn it through the night. But if you use your stove constantly it may be an issue.Would definitely recommend this steamer.
More artistic than a tea Kettle

I had watched this item for awhile and finally bought it when it went on sale. Couldn't ask for better. Good capacity, goes 24hrs before I have to refill. As mentioned it does not "gush" steam, but sends a lovely trickle upward. It is perfect for our kitchen stove which runs usually @1500 deg, which is when "smokey" steams. If you run your stove cooler you might be disappointed.

I have a very small house, so have a small gas space heater. It's a cast iron, Franklin "wannebe". Simply put, moisture is needed in the house, and this dragon really fills the bill. What a delightful solution for a mundane problem!

I used this on my wood burning stove all winter long and loved it. The steaming nostrils were very cool and it kept moisture in the air. Completely durable and awesome to look at! Highly recommend.

The dragon steamer is a fun design. We like seeing the steam come out of the dragons nose. We've had the steamer about a month and use our fireplace a lot. I've noticed small rust stains in it. Be careful to only fill it about 3/4 because the bubbling and overflow can cause white stains that can be hard to remove.

Purchased to replace an old pot we put on the stove in the winter as a humidifier. Notice in the picture the steam is photographed against a black background...pretty precise placement.Steam does come out of the nose, but nothing like a tea pot and my stove cranks to an internal temp of 1,700 degrees (i.e., the top get hot).
Excellent piece, lowest price around

Love this steamer. We heat our home with mainly wood and it gets dry from the heat. The steamer gives out enough moisture in the air and I am very happy with the product.

Super Cool Dragon!
Does the dragon puff?
from Steamboat Springs, CO
Our little wood burning stove has a baffle around it so the top does not get super hot consequently the water does not heat enough to steam, however, if you put boiling water in it the steam does come out the dragon's nose (very cute). The water does evaporate and since its real purpose is to humidify it works. I do like it and am glad I purchased it.

quite cute but not practical
By dry air
Doesn't visibly steam out nostrils at practical level fires. It holds only 2.2 qts. (not advertised 3) so with lid sideways for moisture it is dry by morning unless I add water during the night. Also started rusting within first week of use. BUT it is so cute I kept it and deal with refilling constantly.

Highly Efficient, Charming and Popular

Bought and given as a gift. It's sort of cute and very effective; the kids are still intrigued by the clearly visible steam and the painfull dryness of skin and nasal passages has completely cleared up.
