I am so HAPPY with my curtain!
Comments about Product:
The curtain is used in my kitchen at the patio door that leads to an unheated, enclosed sunroom that is all glass. It definetly keeps the cold out with it's double insulation. I was thrilled with the quality/cost and it matched my kitchen colors perfectly. I have told family and friends about it. I thought I would have to get one professionaly made. Thank you so much!

Disappointing re-order
Comments about Product:
I ordered 6 panels about a year ago and have been pleased with them. Recently I realized I needed 2 more to give the window the proper treatment. I ordered 2 more and they were not the same length as each other, let alone as the previous 6. I returned them for 2 more and they are not the same length as each other nor as the original 6, again, they are too short by 1" and 2".

Don't bother
Comments about Product:
Disappointing quality. Seams are very uneven. Length of panels vary significantly. Should have trusted the other reviewers comments.

Very disappointed
Comments about Product:
The backing was pulled so tight it led to the side stiching being uneven. The difference in the two panels lengths was so great that we had to re sew them. I would have returned them but was expecting guests and did not have time to replace them. Very disappointing. Have purchased from Plow and Hearth before but this was unsatisfactory.

Be Careful with Machine Wash
Comments about Product:
Bought this curtain in two different colors for two rooms. Thought they were more bulky than needed with their 3 differing layers. As they were machine washable, we followed the instructions on the tag and washed them. Parts of the curtain shrunk, causing it to hang short and be really distorted. As this was the only checkered blue curtain available, we reordered them for our daughter as the only curtains we have liked have come from Plow and Hearth. We will only be dry cleaning this time however.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
