Comments about Product: Unit came fast, easy to assemble. The tires are solid slightly smaller than the replacment. It only holds 30 split quarters compaired to my old one that held 45 on average. It maneuvers well, I think the wheels are a little too light. A nice finishing touch would be end caps for the tubing. All in all a good buy.
Comments about Product: We use this to bring wood to our porch for our wood stove. It is great bringing it up the stairs to stack it on our porch. You can stack a lot of wood on it which is less trips.
It could be a little sturdier and sometime the wood does slide side to side hitting the tires, hopefully they will make some changes but overall we like it :)
By Love a wood fire!
Is 2nd one a mistake? Hope Not!
Comments about Product: Just ordered my second one. Why? A wheel on the first one is warped and bent after the cart was overloaded and used over some very rough terrain by the grandsons.
After my second back surgery I had to find much easier ways to do the things I'm used to doing. Hauling large loads of firewood in a canvas carrier by one hand was no longer an option. This P&H Wood Cart does the job! Easy to load and unload, easy to steer through the house and very easy on a bad back!
Suggestions: Do not overload! Do not use on very rough terrain. Tighten spokes before use.
Comments about Product: The product is well designed and functions well.
With one big drawback, the tires. They are flimsy and quickly become bent when using the cart at all.
Plow and Hearth has been great about replacing them, however they just need to upgrade the wheels. I am going to order a pair of better wheels and replace the ones I have.

Great sturdy product! Impressed!
Comments about Product: The large wheels and sturdy design are great! The wood cart is perfect size & it's great for bringing cut wood to the house. I'm very impressed with the sturdy design and large, smooth rolling wheels to transport wood up the hills on the property.

wood caddy wheels
Comments about Product: when we got our wood caddy we went to get our firewood and only loaded it half full by the time we got it back to our house the tires was wobblying an the wheels was bent, we took the wheels of and took them to a bike shop and they strightend and tighten the spokes up, they told us that they had to take the spokes out and re-spoke the wheels because the spokes was not tighten from the factory it cost us 50 dollers to have it done its holding up now but we should not had to do that at all the wheels could have been better quality,
Comments about Product: On the first try, the log cart was loaded with wood and the handle snapped right off from the frame. There are only two small welds attaching the handle to the body frame. My handy husband welded his own brackets securing the handle to the frame. Otherwise we would have sent this item back and not re-ordered.
Best thing is the solid tires
Comments about Product: The low loading area really makes it hard to get the thing kicked back to pull into the house. The solid tires are why we bought it, but it came with a bent frame and a torn form pad covering, so I am fighting a few hurdles in giving a glowing review. It is functional, but not ergonomically pleasing.
By More wood?!
COuld use stronger wheel rims
Comments about Product: I bought this since I need to make many trips to stock wood inside. I bought this large wheeled version since I have MANY steps to cover during my trips.
This works great on "regular" stairs (verus rustic or rock stairs). While the rims did bend out of alignment when a rock or something was encountered, while loaded down with wood, I was able to 'bang it' back.
One change I would make is stronger rims!!!
I still love it though, and my back feels MUCH better and my legs are less tired from the many trips up and down all those stairs.....
Been using it for 10 years!
Comments about Product: Works great up stair cases. Carries a lot of wood.
Amazing wood hauler...
Comments about Product: I had one exactly designed like this for 22 years and the quality of this one is much better, the solid rubber tires are great and the larger wheels get through the rough terrain that I have, very pleased with it and am sure I will haul many loads of wood with it.
I would buy this product again.
Comments about Product: Makes it so much easier to transport firewood from the shed to the house for the fireplace.
Great time and back saver!
Comments about Product: I burn a lot of wood in our standard fireplace. I have to carry it in from outside and armful at a time. This cart has made it so I can haul a days worth of wood into the house in one trip. The reason I chose this one over others was because of the large bicycle tires, which makes it much easier for pulling up the three steps on the front deck. Smaller wheels would have made it much more difficult to heft that kind of weight up those steps. My only complaint is that the fit of the wheel bearings over the axle is quite sloppy and I expect that I will end up having to replace them after a few years of steady use. Closer tolerances would make it last much longer, but overall this cart is a great value and I am very happy with it. I recommend it highly.
By Donna Do-It-Myself
Comments about Product: This saves a lot of time and effort. It used to take me 5 trips to bring in this much wood and the caddy can carry more wood than I can pull uphill. The tall wheels go up my stone steps and across uneven ground easily. It was easy to assemble. My only suggestion for improvement would be a telescoping handle; it's a bit short so it's a little awkward to pull.
Not as great as some say
Comments about Product: There are two primary drawbacks from my perspective. First, it is fairly flimsy and doesn't do well with 3/4 load, let alone a full load. Second, the position of the wheels restricts the width of the log that can be hauled. I don't expect this to last me too long.
Perfect for wood gathering!
Comments about Product: My husband takes care of all our fireplace needs and he absolutely loves the wood caddy. The large wheels on it certainly help getting the wood up the steps onto the deck.
THIS CART IS WONDERFUL
Comments about Product: we use this cart everyday it is a real benifit. It was getting difficult to get the wood in.It does the job in one trip instead of 4.
Thanks very much
Love , works wonderfully !!!!!
Comments about Product: We love that we can fill a full days worth of wood in one load !!!! it is so easy to handle over rough terrain, up steps around furniture. thank you for making my life easier !!! quality product with great results!
Comments about Product: I have had this for four years and it still works great and has held up very well. It has been outdoors year round the entire time. The only thing I did was add some grip wrap to the handle. The only other thing I would change would be to add a handle on the opposite end so two people could move it up steps a little more easily. I have also used this to haul camping gear in high weeds and woods! This tool makes my old body happy!
A Great Back Saver!!
Comments about Product: This wood caddy is great. I bought this after 2 years of using my arms and back. It is a back saver!! Instead of making 11 trips to fill my wood stack inside my home, this caddy takes 2 trips to do the job. You'll love it.

Heavey duty wood caddy
Comments about Product: When transporting wood from the wood pile to the home this cart need a tarp to catch the dirt or wood chip that fall on to the carpet or floor.

Great concept - Poor construction
Comments about Product: The design concept is quite good. As a professional engineer, I was concern about the strength of the wire wheels. I was correct. The wire whells have failed on my unit.
A good concept but a worthless purchase. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
150 pounds no way!!!!!!!
Comments about Product: I followed directions. Set up was easy, but they don't tell you the spokes on the wheels come in the package with no tension on them. I didn't pay much attention either, just anxious to get to hauling wood. After a couple trips in, the wheels were bent beyond use. I took them to a bike shop to get fixed and they said its too late. They are impossible to straighten out at this point. The spokes should have been tightened before it was ever used. It would've been nice to know that beforehand. Oh, and don't just think, "no problem, I can do it myself" because it's certainly not that easy! If you buy one and the spokes are loose, send it back!!

WOOD CADDY is Great!
Comments about Product: The cart is great for those who cannot carry heavy loads of wood. If the wheels were two inches wider it would go over anything and be more like a wagon in moveablity. I bought one for my dad then bought one for me. It works great on a smooth surphase.
Comments about Product: Nobody complains now when they have to go out and move wood from the wood pile to the wood racks! This mover definitely has reduced the trips out back. My sons have even pulled it through the house and sit it next to the fireplace. The design makes it obscure and I have several days worth of wood sitting right there. We have put the canvas carrier away! I agree that the wheels seem a bit wobbly but so far we haven't had any trouble with them; they glide easily over the terrain. I also bought 2 of the large wood racks with finials and they are very attractive on each side of my front steps. We are all very happy with the purchase. My "MENSA" son analyzed the design of all the carriers and told me to buy this one. He has not found any faults with the design.

Poorly made piece of junk
Comments about Product: I cannot believe it got good reviews.
I had a bad feeling about it when I took it out of the box. The metal plate with the "Plow & Hearth" logo painted on it was all scratched up and dented. I put it together figuring it is going to get use anyway.
This cart is flimsy and poorly made with sub-standard materials. I read the instructions which said not to load it with more than 150 lbs., so I weighed a few of my pieces to get an idea of what it should hold, and with less wood on it than the one in the photo with the woman, it bent about four inches above the axle where the handle is attached.
The metal is way too thin for carrying firewood. While the design is clever, the angle section needs to be much thicker, reinforced steel instead of the flat metal which--I measured--is only 1/8" thick.
I am going to call the company and see if we can get our money back.

Comments about Product: My husband and I received this as a Christmas present. It came to us assembled so that was a plus! My husband was very skeptical about using this for the first time because it did not appear very sturdy, but it was awesome! We are getting up there in age and were very surprised to find this product made it much easier to load wood from our wood pile to bring into our house for our wood stove. It is very easy to go up stairs with a full load, and we are making less trips out to the wood pile. We are really enjoying this product.
The shaft broke after three uses
Comments about Product: I had this wood carrier for about two weeks and bringing it up the stairs the main shafts broke so it can no longer can be used. Very flimsy.
Worked well...for now
Comments about Product: Just purchased. Put together in about 20 minutes with socket wrench and pliers. Frame seems solid to me however wheels are a bit wobbly and I question if the pin holding them on will stand the test of time. In 1 trip to the woodpile I brought in (with much less exertion) what typically would have taken me 4 trips with handheld log carrier up two separate sets of steps (about 10 in total)...no problem. I have very standard/uniform sized pieces of wood that are roughly the same length, which fit perfectly. Others could have issues with longer pieces. If I had more confidence in the wheels I'd be fully pleased.

Assembly Difficulty/Wrong load rating
Comments about Product: The tubular wheel spacers were about 3/32" too long which prevented the cotter retaining pins from being installed...had to shorten to assemble.
Catalogue showed 200# load rating. Mfgs. instruction sheet showed not to exceed 150#
Airless tires are great!
Not as easy as it looks.
Comments about Product: I'm not a weakling, but I had a hard time pulling this cart up my back stairs. I could not fill the cart with as much wood as it says you can. I ended up carry the wood by the armful. Much easier and faster. This is a fine product to move wood from one area to another but not for stairs as advertised.
Bought one and then bought a second!
Comments about Product: I fill the indoor wood storage area by wheeling in 4 or 5 full cart loads once per week. For each of two stoves, this is be single best thing we could have selected other than the wood stoves themselves!
Makes my life easier
Comments about Product: I love this! I have a bad back and can still get the cart up the stairs to my front porch. It was a bit hard to assemble, but I appreciate that it was to ensure the stability of the cart - besides my tools left something to be desired...
handy but needs work
Comments about Product: This product would be far more useful with some sort of wire mess between metal frame so the wood doesn't fall out. Also, the screw holes were not all pre-drilled.
Well worth the money!!!
Comments about Product: We have a wheelchair ramp on the back porch, so this product is excellent for easily bringing a large amount of wood to the fireplace in one load. It is balanced well when loaded and easy to move and handle. The nuts and bolts have to be tightened occasionally, but overall, this had made the chore of moving firewood easy. Simple to assemble.
Cheap and Worthless
Comments about Product: This has to be the worst product that I have ever purchased. On the second trip hauling wood the brace that connects the handle to the base split in half making this product nothing more than a very expensive yard ornament. This company should be absolutely ashamed of itself for marketing such pure junk.
By Love to Use Our Fireplace
Comments about Product: Our whole family loves this rolling wood caddy!! We used to use a wood bag to haul logs from our detached garage into our house, but it was difficult and took many trips. It hurt my lower back, made my husband cranky, and our 2 teenage boys would moan and groan when asked to do this task. Now bringing in wood is a pleasure. The caddy rolls easily over ice and snow, up granite steps, and into our house. And we only need to make 2-3 trips to bring in a LOT of wood. This was a great purchase for my husband and me as we are aging, and we know our teenagers will not always be around to help out!
I did have a friend assemble it for us and he seemed to have no problem with it.
The only "con" I can think of is that the caddy is rather large and needs a good-sized space in our garage to store it.
Comments about Product: This wood caddy was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my husband, but we opened it over a month early and have used it daily since then. The balance is excellent - just tip it back and go. No heavy exertion required.
A great asset when needing to haul wood
Comments about Product: Saves wear and tear on the back and shoulders. Rolls easily and is easy to manuver up a couple of stairs and through doorways.
Great little device. Carries more.
Comments about Product: I use this cart to bring wood from my storage area to the house. Each load equals 5 loads per hand carried devices.
wood caddy is great
Comments about Product: I bring firewood from our barn to our back porch. I wanted to be able to lift the wood to the porch, up the steps, so I wouldn't have to unload it twice. While the cart works well and seems quite sturdy, I did decide to put part of the wood in a rubber maid tub on top of part of the wood, take it off before pulling the whole cart up my two steps, then putting the box of wood back on the cart after getting it up the steps. Other than that, I love it. I like the filled tires, it maneuvers well, and hauls a decent amount of wood.
It works as intended.
Comments about Product: I assembled it in about 20 minutes. It hauls bunch of wood. I have a tendency to overload things, it carried more than I can manage. I'll have to deal with my own weaknesses I guess.
Most wood should be about 16 inches in length. There is plenty of room for that. Put short pieces on top between longer ones so they don't fall out. Longer pieces can go on above the wheels and stick out the sides.
It beats the heck out of a log carrier bag!
A Handy, Easy to Use Tool
Comments about Product: Caddy works great to haul firewood. Makes it easy to move firewood from Pile to Fireplace. Works well if wood pieces are not too wide, for me less than 20". It is much easier than other totes or carrying an arm load. Easy to pull up a step to get it in the house.
By Gifter Giver
Very Easy way to move wood
Comments about Product: Assembly was a problem due to one axel shaft spacer being too long and had to be filed off with a grinder. The entire item is much stronger than I thought it would be, very pleased with it.
By Mike the fire builder
Sturdy & handy for the price
Comments about Product: We use this to bring wood from the woodstack outside, up the shallow porch steps into the house. My wife usually does it easily. The large, bicycle-type tires do the trick!
I would buy this again
Comments about Product: Like I tried to say in the pros. column the large-solid tires cut right through snow, and also back up steps real easy. What more could you want?
By Less work more play
exactly as discribed. Great quality
Comments about Product: We use it to load wood so we only need to make one trip. Saves a lot of time and work
a little clunky
Comments about Product: this was bigger than we thought, hard to fit in small spots, a little clunky for getting in and out of the house
Comments about Product: Our wood cady is used to haul less than the max weight of split firewood from barn to house. It has to go up an incline and that seems to put stress on cart. It is weak at bolt holes on lower part of handle. Wheels wobble. And handle could be a couple inches longer for comfort and ease. The design over-all is a great but does need improvement.
Take the good with the bad"
Comments about Product: It definitely has made transporting wood to the door quicker and less painful however the large wheel design has not held up due to the weight of the wood. Both wheels are wobbly and bent. I should have went with the small wheel design.
By Dan and Julie
Comments about Product: It took us less than 40 mins to assemble this wood carrier. The only tools we needed were two 10 mm wrenches. We have a narrow stairway to our wood room, but this carrier fit just fine. It carriered long pieces of wood just fine, but really short pieces tended to shift and fall. I think we will just have to learn how ro load this crrier so that we can get the best use. It will take trial and error but we are very pleased with the results.
Comments about Product: Wood is a primary source of heat for us. Had a smaller iron cart with small wheels. This one looked bigger and described as strong. Very disappointed when pulling the third load up the step and the wood fell back into the yard.
Far from heavy duty.
It is amazing
Comments about Product: We have a fireplace on the second floor. This cart is great to carry large amount of logs up the steps. We like the clean design of it as well.
good idea poorly implemented
Comments about Product: Reading the other reviews, it's hard to believe I received the same product. Perhaps mine was part of a different batch from a new manufacturer.
The one I received does not work. The angle in the frame between the axle and the handle is unreinforced flat metal bent to angle. When the cart is loaded, that angle bends easily again making it impossible to lift the loaded end of the cart. I reinforced the angle by triangulating it with galvanized hanger strap. The cart is now usable but with difficulty. I have to push down hard on the handle to lift the load even when I load mostly toward the handle. The axle needs to be closer to the load and/or the angle in the frame more acute in order to balance the load properly.
If that doesn't scare you off, there were other problems as well. The axle was welded to the frame off center. To mount the second wheel, I had to trim 3/16 of an inch off one wheel spacer with a hack saw. That worked, but left an unpainted end that would eventually rust. The paint cover was also incomplete on the other pieces, most notable both ends of the axle which were already rusting out of the box. Finally, the foam handle grip arrived with a piece torn out about an inch across.
I love the concept of this cart and wish it worked; but I am disassembling mine and sending it back.
Comments about Product: This makes bringing in large loads easy.
Just the thing.
Comments about Product: We store our wood under the deck, and have to bring it across the lawn and up two steps, to get it to the indoor storage area. This cart is great, easy to stack wood, easy to pull, and with the big wheels, easy to pull up the steps when it is loaded. I'm really pleased with it. It's what I needed.

Make 1/3 as many trips carrying firewood
Comments about Product: It's my 16 yr old son's job to bring firewood in to the greatroom from outdoors. He used to roll his eyes and resign himself to the task every time the indoor firewood box needed to be refilled. But that was because he could only bring an armload of logs in at a time with a leather sling carrier. It took forever. This wood caddy changed everything. Now he can load it up and roll several armloads of wood indoors at a time. The large wheels make the caddy roll smoothly and effortlessly. And filling the indoor firewood box takes a fraction of the time it used to take. Now if only Plow & Hearth would make a tool that would make cleaning his room more fun, we'd be all set!

Great useful product
Comments about Product: I heat all winter with wood. This has been a life-saver, even the grandkids like to haul a load of wood in for Gramma. A bit difficult to get up steps with a full load, but I bring one load into house and leave second load at side of door, ready for use when needed.
Expensive, but worth it
Comments about Product: This cart makes hauling wood a much easier task. The cover is especially helpful!
Comments about Product: This is a wonderful alternative to using a heavy wheelbarrow to transport my wood! The large wheels make it easy to maneuver. The construction is great and was easy to assemble. I would recommend this to anyone!

Wonderful wood cart..my second
Comments about Product: I love this wood cart. my old one was great too the the wheel split this summer I will buy more wheels for it. Goes over snow well, brings plenty of wood for the \\ the wood box, from wood shed. such a pleasure. cant do without it. super gift, my sister gave this one to me. I thank her every year.

Comments about Product: Love my new wood caddy, Its cut my trips to the wood pile in half. The large wheels makes for easy driving.
Comments about Product: this is my 2nd purchase....got about two years out of first unit, then pipes bent ! However, I have a bad back and the large wheels make for much easier access and ease up the stairs into the house.
Comments about Product: I love this wood cart! It took a little bit of getting used to because it pushes/pulls nothing like a wheelbarrow which is what I used before, and it holds more wood that the barrow!
Comments about Product: not as heavy duty as the older model week wheels and smaller area to carry the logs, will buy again. quality of product is lesser than it should be. my first one lastes 13 years and i only heat my house with wood. i think this one might make it a year or two if im lucky before i have to replace the wheels. and since it is smaller i will have to make more trips to the log pile.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
