Comments about Product: So I've had other brands of solar lights in the past, none of which performed as good as these! Within the first day of partial charging, I was excited to see the brightness of the LED lights. I can't wait to see the full effect when spring/summer rolls around and they are able to get there max charge. A great purchase - I'm planning on buying more strands to string around by grapevine hanging globes and get them hung around my yard.

Delightful Solar string lights
Comments about Product: They are absolutely just what I wanted/needed to highlight the bridge over my new Koi pond at night. No electric cords to trip on and no worries anyone can accidentally miss the edge of the bridge at night. Wonderful.
Comments about Product: I have purchased two sets of lights for outdoor decoration. One set would not work and was exchanged, the new set now will not work for more than two days with new batteries. The other set works but will only work in the flash mode. These lights are beautiful and a wonderful idea but someone need to have a serious talk with the vendor about the poor quality of their product!
Comments about Product: The product is easy to install and looks beautiful. The downside is the batteries need changed every two weeks or more. It is great when the lights stay on and don't blink but the trouble is the blinking mechanism won't always shut off. We decided to use these further back in the garden so if they go out we don't have to run out right away and put new batteries in (batteries are rechargeable)and install electric lights in the small front trees. I have no problem with the beauty it is just the maintenance.

These lights are pretty and dependable.
Comments about Product: I use these lights around my gazebo. They come on dependably every night if there was just a little bit of sunlight during the day to charge them. They twinkle delightfully. I have been completely pleased with them.
these just don't work
Comments about Product: I really wanted these to work. We tried two different sets twice but they just never worked properly.
Very Bright for solar lights
Comments about Product: The lights really showplace our yard and I love seeing them light by themselves each night. They are so pretty. We had a little trouble with turning off the blinking and staying with the permanently lit because when we put the batteries in we put the screws in too tight so we loosened them a bit and they stayed on without the blinking.
I would buy this product again
Comments about Product: Gave as family gift and they used it on child's jungle jim where is viewed form patio and also from house thru patio doors.
Comments about Product: I attached these to my pergola by my pool. I love it when evening falls and these lovely lights come on. They power lasts all night (I've seen the lights still on at 5 am!). Love them! And best of all, no "electricity guilt"

Very poor product-
Comments about Product: The lights never worked properly at all...so very disappointing since I purchased a number of seta to decorate mt garden for an outdoor party.

Comments about Product: nce product
Comments about Product: Put the lights on an iron garden trellis. Asoutly beautiful, many compliments, have refered Plow & Hearth to others.Service was fast........Thank you for having very affordable quality products.I am a retired florist, and enjoying all these things at my own home now.
Comments about Product: We bought a set last year and they lasted for the summer. Of the set we bought this year, one strand would not turn off in daylight and doesn't charge. Cheaply made [*] electronics.
solar string lights
Comments about Product: I ordered two strings, and one doesn't work at all. I've used it different places, thinking maybe it wasn't getting enough sun, but it hasn't helped. The second set works but the lights go on only for a short time. If they worked well I'd be delighted, but as it is I'm sorry I spent all that money.
My daughter in law loved the solar light
Comments about Product: My daughter in law hung the solar lights on her Swim Pool Fence. She thought the solar lights were so practical. Very pretty to see at night while in pool and/or from deck of master bedroom.
The subtle evening lighting is unique.
Comments about Product: I have purchased three sets of the garden low glow lights - very peaceful. I display them with the solar dragonflies in my garden along the carport and also in the window box. Three sets - three areas example 2 sets for the carport and one set for the large window box.

Almost sent them back!
Comments about Product: neither the instructions with the lights nor the catalog made clear that these solar batteries actually improve their output over time, so I nearly returned them during their first weeks. It seemed as if i needed to live on the equator in June to get the advertised light time. However, after enough sequential sunny days (not always frequent here in the snowy northeast), they would stay on until dawn! so they work both better and worse than advertised, but a cloudy day gives me very little light time.
the quality of the wires sucks. have had to repair them in two places already where birds pecked right through the flimsy wires, since the light strings were installed near the bird feeder at first.
I would say too much money for what i get.
Comments about Product: Along rear yard fence - subtle accent lights
By Russ the farmer
Comments about Product: It worked only for a few days. Just not up to the usual quality. I replaced batteries, used a Volt-ohm meter to try to trace problem, no luck.
These are wonderful!!
Comments about Product: Love them - they make the garden sparkle at night!

not lit long enough
Comments about Product: living in fla, i would expect a brighter and longer lasting light
Comments about Product: Purchased two sets of these lights. One set was returned because of bad cover. At that time we ordered a third set. The last set it has a defective switch. The idea of the lights is great, need better quality control.
Don't Buy These!
Comments about Product: After all the trouble of stringing these up, they didn't work. It wasn't a matter of just one, I bought two sets and neither worked. I even changed the rechargable batteries that came with them with brand new ones and no go. These are not a quality product.
Comments about Product: Have the light string along our front porch railing. Replaced exisiting non-solar lights with this product and have not been disappointed. Considering another set for our backyard deck area. Would strongly recommend this product for anyone wanting to save energy and be pleased with presentation at the same time.
Don't purchase this item
Comments about Product: This item is hard to install with 2 separate wires. I ordered 5 and none of them worked more than one night!!!! All are in full sun

Now that we've had them for a while...
Comments about Product: I wrote a review on these when we first put them up, so I feel it's only fair to ammend it to paint a more accurate picture. The lights are still lovely and charming. . .when they go on.
After a couple of days of working perfectly, they started to act up. Anywhere from one to all four strands will be out on any given night. If we play with the switches, we can usually get them going again, unitl the next night. For our installation, reaching the switches requires getting on a ladder, and moving that ladder around the deck a few times.
If they worked like they should, I'd still say the lights are very pretty, but taking into account how techtchy they are, I just can't recommend them.

Outlining my Dock
Comments about Product: I am using them to outline my dock out over a lake......very dramatic at night...I often use items differently than originally planned & may eventually move them to another spot! I never know....I'll spend a bit more for a unique product . My brass sun-dial on the same dock came from a local thrift store & only cost $15....I love bargains !
I would buy these again
Comments about Product: I have them on my deck and they create a very soft atmosphere.

So Far, So Good
Comments about Product: We got four strands to string to a rooftop pergola, and so far they've worked beautifully. The lights are not super-bright, but I'm not sure they're supposed to be. They give off a lovely starlight twinkle, and that's exactly what we wanted-- the effect is very charming and lovely.
I can't speak to durability as we've just put them up.
A caveat: Because it's the middle of summer, and they're on our roof, our panels get an enormous amount of sun, and that might be an important consideration.
Comments about Product: We use these lights on top of our Pergola on the patio. We ordered another 2sets to make it brighter when needed on the patio. That will make us 4 sets for the 12x16 Pergola.
Comments about Product: Installed on top of a new pergola. Easy to install. Can have the light on steady or flashing, we like better steady. The only down side is they do not come on early enough. Wish there was a way to manually turn on as well.
love the glow and ambiance, perfect!!!!!
Comments about Product: Purchased as a gift. They loved them and put them on their pergola. The glow and ambiance is so perfect at night. They loved them so much I purchased 2 more sets for them. Great product!!

Pretty but Fragile
Comments about Product: We have had 50/50 results. These lights are strung along our fence and light up well at night. No problem with the solar function, it works well, but the glass bulbs are extremely fragile. We broke a bulb putting them up but the surrounding solar light still works so not all bad.
One other string broke after a few days. Also lost a few bulbs on that string and then it stopped functioning altogether. I wish there was a way to replace the glass bulbs.
Not what I expected.
Comments about Product: Put them around my deck but the lights are so small and do not stay lit for more than a couple of hours even after being in the sun most of the day. One string is off more than it is on.

Beautiful Twinkles at Twilight
Comments about Product: Wrapped these lights around my arbor and have enjoyed the twinkling every night since.
If I awake at 2 AM or 4AM and look outside, they look just as bright as they did when the sun first went down.
Save your money
Comments about Product: I was surprised that the quality of the product was so poor. We've had these lights for about 3 weeks and they've stopped working.
Comments about Product: This is a product that makes my yard come alive at dark...what could be more romantic?

solar string lights
Comments about Product: gave lights to both sons for birthday gifts
both really liked them and thought they were unique
they thought they "dressed up" yard
They're great while they're working
Comments about Product: I love Plow and Hearth, because they always try to accommodate their customer. My gripe isn't with them, but with the maker of these lights. We strung 2 sets on our 12 x 24 pergola. Every 2-3 nights, we were having to go turn on (or WAKE UP) one or the other of the sets. Recently, we turned them on to find out they only worked in flash mode (which we don't prefer) for a short time (?!), then would shut off. Plow & Hearth has offered to replace them, or issue a refund upon return. Our dilemma is, it took 2 days to get these installed, by the time we carefully stapled the lead wire to conceal it, and wrapped and wrapped the strings. I fear, because they seem to have identical defects, we'd receive 2 more sets with the same problems!! I really love them when they're working, though... so we're trying to figure out a solution, ourselves.

Sparkles in my Dogwood tree
Comments about Product: They are fun to use in our Dogwood tree. Obviously, the lights need sunshine to recharge & that's not always possible in upstate NY in the Winter! Still, cute when they're charged.
Let the lights shine in your eyes!
Comments about Product: We bought solar lights for our trellis out front and use it all year round for decoration and also to make the trellis entrance more noticable. During Christmas our nativity scene is highlighted when we put it under the trellis.
Our other set of solar lights I wove around a little iron fence we have surrounding our flower garden by the sidewalk which leads to our front door. The lights are beckoning friends at night and not visible by day. We've enjoyed their small lights.
We bought solar lights for our hot tub on the back deck. The hot tub is enclosed with a tent and so the solar lights' collector is stuck on the top of a wooden windbreak. The lights come on at dusk and when we go into our hot tub area we have just enough light to give the right ambiance.
Unfortunately all solar lights depend on the angle of the sun and so in the winter we do not have as much light as long as we do in the summer. However, that has not put a damper on our enjoyment. It may be that just that bit of acknowledgement of our sun and its relationship to our solar lights makes us more appreciative of that big round orb of ours.
my garden and sanctuary
Comments about Product: the lights are so lovely...not overdone and so inviting to others to enter into the garden at night.

Let There Be Light - Total Satisfaction
Comments about Product: These solar-powered lights are wonderful in the garden at night, providing a sense of enchantment with no impact on the electricity bill. They come on at dusk and last several hours, blinking like fireflies ... which is just what we wanted. We've been using them for a couple of months now with no problems whatsoever!
I'll try again
Comments about Product: These were purchased for outside in a moderate to very sunny area. One worked for 2 days then stopped, 1 only flashes (I don't want flashing) and 1 seems to be working. I'm exchanging 2- hoping the replacements are better. They require FULL sun to function.
The one that works is very pretty- like "fairy lights" as my neice calls them.
Not worth the money
Comments about Product: Never did work properly and too expensive for what you got.

no light from solar lights
Comments about Product: I purchased 2 sets of lights in the beginning of the year hoping to use these as decorations on my garden trellis. The first 2 sets didn't hold a charge for more than 2 hours. The exchange was easy but the second set of lights wasn't any better. After several days, they didn't hold the charge either and the amount of light was barely visible when they did work.[...]

Solar String Lights
Comments about Product: I love the idea of the string solar lights, but I can't seem to change the mode to non-flashing. I have two sets. One set goes on regularly; the other does not! If they worked better, I'd buy more!
BIG LETDOWN !
Comments about Product: Short light time, comes on at different times, not worth the price

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
