Beautiful & Well Made
Comments about Product:
This beautiful mat is sturdy & well made & resides at a side entry door.Delivery was a few days earlier than expected & was packed well. Too soon to know how it will hold up or wear but under a protected area should be fine. The colors are lovely & warm...soft mossy greens, warm beiges bordering on rustic tan & some soft dark brown all on a warm beige/khaki background. I don't see any orange tones at all but more coppery looking. Looks great with my bronze bench. The size is adequate for a regular sized door but wish it was offered in a larger size. Love this mat!!!

Perfect colors for what I was wanting
Comments about Product:
This would complement any shades of brown/beige/caramel. It is durable and will be good for wet weather shoes and keeping the moisture off the floors.

Very attractive, durable, non-slip mat!
Comments about Product:
I bought this mat thinking I was going to place it just inside the front door - however, it was too thick for the door to open over it! Instead, I use it in front of my sink, where it looks beautiful on my tiled floor, and is so much better than the 2 or three flimsy kitchen padded mats that I have had over the years! This rug won't move around, has a great non-slip backing, and the edges are graded so you don't trip over it (this had happened often with the padded kitchen mats, which don't have graded edges). This is a lovely, substantial rug which also is a decorative accent.

Wipe your feet!
Comments about Product:
The mat is a good size and seems to do well with rain and moisture. I was surprised that the color is so bright and orange. By the picture I expected to see more brown/tan earthtones.

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
