This is a great way to plant tomatoes when you do not have room for a garden - I am purchasing 6 more for next year - beats hanging flower baskets

      Pros

      • Can use in small places
      • Has reservoir for water
      • Reasonably attractive

      Cons

      • Can't see water level

      Best Uses

Comments about Plowhearth Bottoms Up Veggie Planter:

Works great on my small patio with the small-ish tomatoe plant I planted. But you cannot see how full the reservoir is unless you look down into it. Since you have to hang it high, that's a problem.

        • They are nice and sturdy

        Cons

        • Too much water to plant

        Best Uses

Comments about Plowhearth Bottoms Up Veggie Planter:

Other products seem to dry out so fast. These seem to overwater, will try covering the top and control entry.

              Pros

              • Sturdy

              Cons

              • Hard to add fertilizer
              • Often doesn't water soil

              Best Uses

              • Deck tomatoes

Comments about Plowhearth Bottoms Up Veggie Planter:

Using on deck for tomatoes. One really works well at keeping the plant watered, but the other one seems not to do well at all. I keep moving the watering wick down to the soil, but it still isn't doing well. They are also almost impossible to get fertilizer directly into the soil: the water tanks are incredibly difficult to lift up once the plant is hung.

Thumbs Down for Upside Down Tomato

              By Gardener

              from Chattanooga,TN

              Verified Buyer

Comments about Plowhearth Bottoms Up Veggie Planter:

I was very disappointed with this planter. The wick did not keep the planter watered - I finally started pouring water down between the reservoir and the side of the planter. My plant was wilting with the reservoir full of water. Another drawback is the open top where heavy rainfall keeps it full to the top and the water gets green and slimy while the plant dies from lack of water. It's hard to believe that this product was tested before being offered for sale. Even more difficult for hot southern climates where we have nonstop weeks of 90 degree weather.
