Reduce, reuse, recycle. Remarkable. If you’re still searching for outdoor furniture that requires no maintenance, you may not have heard of POLYWOOD, a Plow & Hearth favorite that’s made in the USA. Watch the video:
VIDEO It has great features you can’t find in most furniture, and it’s environmentally sustainable. Did you know that your used plastic water bottles could be repurposed to make a bench? That’s right. Here’s how it works: 1. Used milk containers, detergent bottles and other post-industrial material are blended with safe additives and UV-pigmented systems (yes – to protect the finished product from fading!).
2. This blend of reused plastics is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for compounding. 3. It is then composited into the material we know (and now you know) as POLYWOOD. This finished product contains over 90% of recycled plastic by weight. With the look of wood but without the warping and work, it’s only right that the finishing touches are high-quality, too. Stainless steel hardware is marine-grade, which means it is resistant to moisture and won’t rust. All hardware is coated with protective Xylan® to prevent wear, keeping your furniture looking young.
So it’s not actually wood…it must be easy to clean, right? Yes! It’s as simple as gently scrubbing with soap and warm water.
Durable POLYWOOD has exceptional resistance to oil, salt and weather elements. No need to touch up the paint – the color runs all the way through each piece and won’t ever fade.
So… where can you find this impressive wood alternative? We have plenty of seats and tables on our website to inspire outdoor entertaining ideas. Want in?
