I'm embarrassed to admit that what I thought was just a humerous gift is really a great and practical gift. It's amazing how often we reference the clock.

Logo MUST GO
Comments about Product:
The manufacturer is in love with themselves. Their HUGE Logo takes up the bottom portion of the clock and distracts from the over all beauty and functionality of the device.

The greatest, most used, and most appreciated retiree gift ever. It's a great conversation piece and every retiree who sees it, says that is just what they need.

Fun to have hanging on your wall.
Comments about Product:
We display it in our dining room and use it daily to keep on top of our lives. We have a lot of fun when we have company and they discover it is a day clock. There are times when it has lost a little time and the days don't line up.

Early Days "Day Clock".
Comments about Product:
I am retired and handicapped. Each day seems like the next day, and this clock is very helpful for me to keep track of the days.

very helpful
Comments about Product:
Helpful for our parents who don't work anymore and lose track of what day it is. We wish the words on the clock face could be larger (many older folks have vision impairments).

The PERFECT gift for the retiree!
Comments about Product:
This clock appeared on my father's wall as a gift and my husband and I loved it! We are both now retired and we spend time in our cabin in the mountains...we really don't have a time clock anymore...but it is nice to keep track of the days! What a clever gift! The day clock actually moves through the day and in the evening you will see it creep closer to the next day...it comes in two different shades...we have the oak one. We like it and would recommend it as a perfect gift!!!

The Olla: A Brief History

Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.

When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.

The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.

Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!

How it Works:

Water is pulled directly through the terra-cotta!
