Comments about Product: Bought the lamp to go on the patio next to a couch. It is very nice but limiting illumination to a 13 watt CFL means only 60 Watts worth of lighting. Really wanted 100 watt to read by but bulb cover only allows for smaller CFL units.
Comments about Product: Put this lamp in my sun room. Well made and sturdy. The bulb is a little dim. With all the weather protection in the shade area, the manufacturer should have used a brighter bulb. I will see if I need a higher watt bulb, otherwise a very nice outdoor light.
Comments about Product: The finish on this lamp comes off with just a light touch - the lamp is already nicked and almost appears like styrofoam underneath the brown color. It also does not throw much light - do not plan to read by this lamp. It is cute though and I assume safe because it is outdoor rated.

Comments about Product: This lamp was the perfect fit for our sunroom and compliments the wicker furniture very well. We searched high and low for a lamp to place in the sunroom, and we found the price was very reasonable.
Comments about Product: Great for the porch and illuminates well for night time. Not good if evening or a stormy sky. Well constructed for the money and seems weather proof so far. Old fashioned style but couldn't find a modern looking outdoor floor lamp.
Comments about Product: I was a little disappointed in that the decorative spindle at the top of the lamp is crooked. Not from operator error, just poor workmanship on the manufacture of it. But I do like the general look of the lamp, and am surprised at how well it illuminates. I think the bulb will be difficult to change, but I understand it need to be locked away and secure because it is an outdoor lamp. Great value for the money I paid, though.
Comments about Product: The lamps work great. It isn't as bright as we wanted. But I think that is the bulbs' fault and not the lamps. I am planning on switching out the bulbs. The lamps have a great heavy base and they are VERY attractive.
Comments about Product: It is very useful on our screened in porch and the bulbs are very adequate for reading at night.
The biggest con is that both the table lamp as well as the floor lamp are not level when assembled. We returned the first ones we purchased and just purchased another set which are also not level.
Comments about Product: Bought the bronze floor lamp for a sunroom which gets a lot of oceans breezes and the lamp hasn't tipped yet. Don't expect a brightly lit room but it does give off a nice warm light and provides plenty of light to read if you have it next to your chair. Works beautifully with dark brown wicker furniture. Buying the matching table lamp next!
Comments about Product: Floor lamp looked great, easy to assemble but not weighted well at all. Used it on our screened-in porch. But it blew over, shade came off, metal supports for the glass fixture broke so it's useless. Still can't decide if we should buy another.
Comments about Product: Love this lamp; very sturdy and nice-looking. My only issue was with the 13W CFL bulb included. It gives off only very dim light. The description on this site says it can take a regular 100W bulb. I called the manufacturer to be sure, and they said that since it's an energy-efficient fixture you MUST use the 13W CFL. Using even a 60W regular bulb is too high of wattage. To get brighter light, they said to get the CFL bulb called "daylight" or "cool whilte."
Comments about Product: I love it! It is a great addition to my back porch. I was very pleased when the day after I installed it we got a rain and wind storm and it did not blow over. I would give it five stars but there is a slight flaw on the shade but not worth sending back.
Comments about Product: The lamps are a perfect complement to our wicker resin porch furniture. They are pretty and especially stable and weighted adequately to endure the outdoors. We were not actively looking to replace our previous lighting, but when we saw them in the catalogue, we knew they were a perfect replacement. We are very happy with our choice.
Comments about Product: Presence of defective part made assembly impossible and therefore the unit was useless. Recently bought entire room of wicker furniture, [*], and every piece was defective in some manner and had to be returned. This appears to be the norm for products [*] --- even those of supposedly higher quality.
Comments about Product: Exactly what I needed to replace a 34 year old set we had on our Gazebo. High quality, easy to assemble - the reports here to the contrary are really "operator error". Predict these will outlive me. Already receiving complements.
Comments about Product: I use the lamps on my screened porch behind my gliders for seated reading at night. They provide just the right amount of light for reading (I have the white shade) yet they are not too bright for the overall lighting/atmosphere of the porch. The base is heavy enough to prevent the lamp from tipping over.
Comments about Product: The lamp gives off a soft warm light. Not bright and overbearing. The only thing is that you have to remove the shade and the guard when changing the light bulb. The 3 pieces are hard to line up to screw on the final which hold the pieces together.
Comments about Product: A nice lamp for our screened porch. I don't know if it was exceptionally windy this summer, but the lamp did tip over fairly often. However, due to the design, the bulb and everything were fine.
Comments about Product: This is a great lamp. I was worried that because of the light color, it would show a lot of outside dirt/pollen, etc. But I've had it on my screened porch for several months now and it somehow looks clean. It was very easy to assemble and looks great.
Comments about Product: Have this lamp on my screen porch. It is great to sit out there in the evening in the summer and read. Gives off enough light. I want to get another one but can't decide if it will be the table one or another floor lamp. A great product would reccomend it.
Comments about Product: This floor lamp added the perfect touch to our outdoor seating area. Even with an energy saving "bug light" in it we are still able to use if for reading. Our patio cover sometimes leaks in strong storms and I was concerned that water would get in the light bulb socket. I didn't realize this lamp not only has a shield above where the light bulb is but the light bulb is also covered by a nice glass fixture, kind of like a huricane lamp. Out of an abundance of caution I still would not use it in wet conditions but I don't have to worry about the socket filling with water. The price was much less than other weather "resistant" lamps. Lampshade is attractive and appears durable. Lamp could easily be transformed into an indoor lamp especially if you changed to a fabric lampshade. Would definitely buy again.
Comments about Product: Disappointing The catalog says up to 100 watt bulb but that is NOT what the enlcosed material says- this is a very dim lamp Cannot read by it And it tilts !! really disappointed Too much energy to send it back but disappointed.
Comments about Product: This item is very attractive and will be easy to clean. The shade can be rinsed with water. It provides just enough light for reading without taking up much space. This coordinates very well with wicker furniture. Assembly was easy.
Comments about Product: I love sitting on my screened in porch in the evenings and reading. This lamp is perfect for reading when sitting close by or for ambiance lighting at a party.
I love the bronze color and this product can compare with others at twice or three times the price. I like to get a bargain, but also appreciate quality. I have checked out other "ritzy" catalogs.
It took a little while to get all the pieces screwed in correctly, but it is sturdy and weather resistant.
Comments about Product: I carefully read the reviews of this lamp, and all were right on the mark. The lamp is quite heavy, the all weather wicker shade is thick and tightly woven, and the finish is high quality. The brown metal is similar to a very dark, smooth oil-rubbed bronze color. I'm extremely pleased with the lamp. We used it indoors all winter and just moved it outside now that the weather is nice.
Comments about Product: While the lamp looks good and is sturdy, which is important for a screened in porch, the amount of light it puts forth is very limited. Perhaps it's because we chose the brown lamp and the shade is dark, but it hardly sheds any light - the main reason why we purchased the lamp.
Comments about Product: All of the catalog descriptions are on target. It has proven to be exactly what we had hoped for & needed in our screened-in porch. We use them year-round . We have found nothing that isn't great. Highly recommended.
Comments about Product: Bought this lamp for my Mom's newly renovated porch which has wicker furniture. Matched perfectly. The table lamp is the perfect height for reading (not too low) and gently illuminating the small area. Nice touch that it came with a FL bulb too.
Comments about Product: I really liked how this lamp was multipurpose, and could be used both inside and outdoors. It is perfect where we have it, in our sunroom. It is amazing how they package the lamp into 1 medium size box. When I got it I was expecting a large slim box. It was very easily to put together and seems to be fine. I haven't had it long enough to see how durable it is, but so far I am pleased.
Comments about Product: We ordered 2 lamps for our covered patio. We replaced the bulbs with the yellow outdoor bug-repellent bulbs and just love the light effect! These are very sturdy lamps that won't blow over in high winds. The shades are made of woven plastic that looks like wicker but stands up better to the elements. I would definitely recommend these lamps to anyone!
Comments about Product: We attempted to screw the lamp pole to the base, but the grooves were stripped, making it impossible to tighten the two elements. The shade also seemed pretty tacky, considering the price. We returned ours, and did not opt for a replacement.
Comments about Product: Can be exposed to the elements. I don't like that I cannot use a bulb larger than 60 watt. A larger bulb will not fit inside the glass container that is necessary to hold the shade.
Comments about Product: I chose this lamp for its function in damper Northwest weather, and for the year round durability, It assembled quickly and it is easy to move and clean, I recommend it highly if you are looking for a well priced, durable product,[...]
Comments about Product: Being able to use these lamps outdoors means that they're nice and substantial in weight. However, the design is such that they are simple and don't look awkward using them indoors. We use them on our bedside tables. Inevitably several nights a week my husband and I go to bed at different times. Being able to dim these lights have been a saving grace for when the other comes to bed in the pitch dark. We have the bronze color and they are beautiful! The pattern that shows up on the wall when you have them on is really neat too. It almost looks like little waves…maybe just a side treasure, but a really cool effect.
Comments about Product: These lamps have been great for our large second floor sleeping porch. We have three table and two floor lamps. The bronze is a rich color, they are heavy without excessive bulk, weather worthy, and give a beautiful glow to the porch on summer evenings. The grand kids like the dimmer switches which they adjust when watching movies during their sleepovers. Everything about these lamps is terrific and the price is outstanding for the quality.
Comments about Product: Used on my screened porch, especially at the bridge table. Excellent light source. Have been searching for an outdoor lamp for a long time, and happy to have found one that is so good looking.[...]
Comments about Product: nice light for late night reading or crossword puzzles on the porch. Seems durable. has good heavy outdoor cord. Only had it since Father's Day so don't know how long lasting it is after some hot months outside
Comments about Product: Very attractive resin wicker lamp which casts nice light. Was purchased for use on sun porch. Would not hesitate to use it outside as it is quite heavy and seems very durable. Excellent buy!!!
Plan to purchase matching table lamp in the future.
Comments about Product: I looked for weeks online to find an affordable outdoor floor lamp. They were, invariably, hundreds of dollars. Finally found this lamp for under $100. Everything about it is just excellent. Heavy, so it doesn't blow in wind (and we have a lot of that!); very, very attractive; dimmer switch (which was a nice surprise); just excellent construction and engineering. I could not be more pleased!
Comments about Product: Great lamps for our screen porch! I was looking for reading lamps that could withstand wet weather and wind. These are good looking, weather resistant and heavy enough to remain upright during a heavy and windy thunderstorm!
Comments about Product: It was very difficult to install. I had to take it to a lamp repair store and the switch was bad on it. When you screw a blub in you can't cover with the glass fixture so it's not water proof. It's made in China, I wouldn't have bought it had I known that. Poor quality.
Comments about Product: I have this lamp on my screened porch. I didn't think there would be any way the lamp would stand up to the wind but the week I received it we had strong winds and rain and it survived without ever turning over. I love this lamp and the dimming feature was a great surprise.. Such a nice addition to our screened in porch.
Comments about Product: I placed this lamp on my front porch next to a chase lounge near my entrance. It adds the charm of an indoor reading lamp with the durability of a heavy duty outdoor fixture. I also ordered all weather wicker side tables that compliment the lamp. I recently discovered Plow and Hearth and am really impressed with the service , merchandise , and fair pricing !!!
Comments about Product: We love this lamp.(Bought the bronze finish). We have a screened in back porch with wicker furniture. The only thing missing was a lamp. I had given up finding one that was beautiful, well made and affordable. Was skeptical when I ordered it, but delighted when it arrived and I discovered that it was all of the above. I love the way the light dims for mood lighting.
Comments about Product: The cord was too large for the allowed opening. It was EXTREMELY hard to pull thru the base. When you started screwing the parts together, the cord was so tight that it developed torque - so when you let go it spun back, causing it to loosen up again. If you got one piece tight, the other piece loosened up. I finally had to super glue it to get it to hold.
The floor lamp, on the other hand, went together with no problems.
Comments about Product: After verifying the quality of this lamp, I bought another, so we could read at night on our screened-in porch. The lighting is not quite bright enough for reading without strain, but we love having the extra light when we want it. The lamps are very durable and a heavy, good quality. It looks great. I put one in the bedroom during the winter months, it looks good enough to use inside, too.
Comments about Product: Didn't know what to expect; never bought an outdoor lamp before. We use this in a screened gazebo on top of a wicker table. It has stayed in place during horrible storms and heavy winds. So glad I bought it!
Comments about Product: I have been looking for several years for a lamp that would be appropriate for our front porch and hold up to the weather. This lamp is so wonderful, especially like the dimmer switch (an added bonus)because it softly lights our front porch and is very welcoming. One of my friends was so impressed with the lamp she ordered one for her front porch. Now that is a double endorsement!!

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
